I just received a call from 302-731-1166, but since I did not originate the call, I called Bank of America and received the news, my account had been charged with three separate charges, none of them by me.

I had two calls from this number today - I'm not sure why they don't leave a message.  After finding this page of comments when searching the number, I decided to call the number on the back of my BofA Visa card.  They said that it was them trying to reach me.  There was a $1.00 charge made at 12:30 a.m. with my card on Google.com.  They are closing that credit card account and issuing a new card.

Even if I had answered and they said they were BofA, I would not have given them any info, but instead would have hung up and called the number on the back of my card anyway just to be safe.

This number called me while I was busy on teh line placing an order with a merchant, but left no message.  I returned the call and it was answered by "Card Services Fraud Department"  I gave tehm my name and asked what card they were calling about. The man said he didn't know they service many cards for numerous banks. He asked for my card number which I answered with "For which card ? I have many cards" There was no way I was going to give them my card number.  He couldn't answer for which card and said I should call the number on back of my credit card.  After searching the internet, I found this forum and decided to try Bank of America.  They confirmed they had made the call --apparently suspecting fraud with the order I was placing when they called...They are quick but they really need to do something to make their inquiries appear less like a phishing expedition

If it is in fact BOA, I'd love to know why they're calling me when I do absolutely NO business with them. They called my cell twice within a few minutes, neither time leaving a message.

Received several calls from this number in April and May 2012; When I call back: says: you have been called for telemarketing purposes. If you do not wish to be called again, and to be put on our own do not call list, press 2. I press 2 and get recording that voice mail box is full. I think that I may have been scammed, that by pressing 2 I indicated it is a working number.

this number is BofA Fraud Protection.  Best thing to do when you get this call is hang up, then call BofA at the number on your card just to be safe.  They just told us someone was charging on our card for NetFlix - which we never charge.  I love B of A - they watch for stupid stuff like this and it works.

I can confirm that it is Bank of America fraud protection.  If you don't feel comfortable giving them your account number as verification, just hang up and then call the fraud protection hotline from their website.  That's what I did, and it turns out there was a fraudulent charge on my card.

We have received calls over the last few days from 302-731-1166. The location is identified as Newark DE only without further information. It is a Sunday and I am unable to reach anyone at BofA but find no unusual activity online. It would greatly surprise me if BofA were so unprofessional as not to divulge it's name on caller ID. It is even stranger than their computer would be "programmed not to leave a message" as someone claimed.

This is Bank of American credit card fraud department calling.  It is an automated line which asks some questions about your most recent charges on the account.   You do NOT have to give them any information, but they do ask you to verify by pressing "1" if charges are valid.

I received a call from this # and missed the call. I called them right back and they did not identify them selves to me. Every time I asked a question they would answer it with a question. This caused me to get on the annoyed side. I asked three times what bank or credit card company they were calling about. Then I had to explain that I wasnt looking for an account # just the company. The women finally answer the question and stated it was Bank of America. I was on alert before this because of the way the conversation was going, now I know something was wrong, I have not had a B of A account in over 3 years. I contacted B of A and they told me that there are no account, there was no activity, and that their company did NOT contact me. Beware of these people. If you are concerned about account activity, contact your local branch or call a number you recognize and know is from your credit card company

I got a call from that number today.  I logged in and saw nothing out of the ordinary on my accounts, so I started a chat session with a customer service rep.  I figured I'd just copy what they said since they said it was not a legitimate number.  Here you all go:

Thank you for choosing Bank of America. You are now being connected to a Chat Specialist. For security purposes, please remember to close your chat window when completed.
Maureen: Hello! Thank you for being a valued Bank of America customer! My name is Maureen. May I have your complete name?
    You:
    Maureen: Hi Duane.
Maureen: How can I assist you with your personal checking or savings account today?
You: I wanted to check with the bank. I got a phone call that left a message saying it was Bank of America. The message was cut off because it started before my voice mail message was done evidently. It was from 302-731-1166. Is that valid for Bank of America?
Maureen: I understand that you're contacting us about the phone call you received.
Maureen: Please give me a moment to check it for you,
You: And is there a way you can tell why they might have called if it was legitimate?
    You: ok. Thank you.
    Maureen: You are welcome.
Maureen: I see that this is not from Bank of America.
Maureen: Did you see any unauthorized transactions on your account?
You: I went and checked before I brought up the chat. I don't see anything out of the ordinary, no.
Maureen: Thank you for the confirmation.
Maureen: Keeping your financial information secure and confidential is our most important responsibility.
Maureen: I can also provide you with the link which will provide you with more information on how you can prevent, detect and resolve fraud.
    You: Ok. Thank you.
    Maureen: You are welcome.
    Maureen: Please click here.
You: I had heard that number has been tied to fraud against BofA customers for years. That was why I checked with you. Thank you for your help.
Maureen: You are welcome, Duane and thank you for bringing this to our attention.
Maureen: Were you able to view the link I have provided?
You: Yes, I was. Thank you.

Same thing happened to me today. Message started recording before my voicemail picked up. When I searched number online, a few forums mentioned boa so I called number on my cc and there were no fraudulent charges on my acct. Customer service guy said they will never call and ask for personal info. Best thing to do is call number on cc, don't call back the 302 number. I also reported the phone number to the federal trade commission

Legit!  I didn't answer, looked it up and saw what people here said about it being BoA.  Sure enough, there was a fraudulent $348 charge to my card that they caught!

Got a call from this number and Caller ID said Delaware. Didn't answer it, figuring it was a telemarketer. I did get a recorded message telling me that it was Bank of America, calling to let me know that "a recent change" made to my accounts had been completed. I had changed my address with Bank of America online the day before so I think that the number is legit. There was nothing in the message to indicate that anyone was looking for personally identifiable information or account numbers. There was just a callback number in case I had any questions and that's it.

This is the Bank of America fraud Department and is legit. They left a msg and asked me to call 18665590025 and enter a 6 digit code to confirm activity on my card. I just purchased a $2500 airfare to Australia and they wanted to know if my card was stolen. The only information they ask to confirm your identity is you billing zip code.

I missed a call from this number today, and when I called back it was busy.  I googled the number and found this page.  I called BOA's number on the back of my card, and there is no fraudulent activity on my card.  They advised to do the following:

NEVER give your personal or card information to anyone who calls you, no matter how legitimate they sound.  Hang up, and call BOA directly.
