- Hubert SammReceived call, wasn't legit, but said it was BOA fraud.. hung up, and called # on pack of my card.. in deed, a fraud charge had been made on my care.. BOA cancelled the accounts & are sending out new cards.
- Caller: BOA
- Austin, TXI have received at least 4 phone calls from this number in the past 24 hours. This morning, I also received a call from another 302 number that left a message saying there had been suspicious activity on my credit card. Shortly after receiving the phone call, I got an e-mail alert from Bank of America telling me there had been "irregular activity" on my card. The e-mail gave me a fraud protection website to go to and view recent transactions to verify whether or not they were legit. There was also a 1-800 number to call, so I called it, and a BoA rep walked me through the transactions. They were all legit, but there had been several charges in a period of 3 or 4 days because I had been out of town, so they just wanted to verify that I hadn't lost my card or had it stolen.
So I think this number is for real, amd you should take the calls seriously, but DO NOT give them any information. If you are getting calls from this number, first verify that you haven't lost any of your credit cards. If you have, call the customer service department for the missing card. If you haven't, you still need to call all of your CC companies just to be safe. Someone could have stolen your card number even if you still have the card itself.- Caller: Card Services
- counselorkayI was receiving anywhere from 2 - 8 calls per week from a variety of numbers which, when googled, all pointed back to BoA. I never answered them nor did they ever leave a message. Eventually the calls stopped. Until tonight; I just got another one from the above number.
The interesting thing is that I do not have any BoA credit cards of any kind. I done no business with them, nor they with me.
I have always lived by the tennent that if the call is legit, they will leave me a message. And so far, I haven't been wrong!!- Caller: Unsure
- BillReceived a call from this number today, do not have a card from BOA so just do not understand why I got the call. Stop it, I don't like calls like this.
- WLEThis number is the Bank of America fraud dept.
I had just activated my replacement card (old account canceled due to fraud charges) and had a couple of hospital bills to pay so three charges within 15 min and they just called to verify those were legit charges. They do monitor all activity 24/7 and do call immediately if they suspect fraud activity.
They do ask for your full card number, name and billing address when you call back & also ask for the last 4 digits from any other debit card you may have with the bank in order to verify that you are you.
Feel safe knowing this is a legit number, but call the 800 # on your card & ask to be transferred to the fraud dept. if you are uncomfortable giving this info to the 302 number.- Caller: Bank of America
- JeffGot a call from this number, it was Bank of America's credit card fraud department. The message was a recording and they were asking for two people who's accounts they believe had fraudulent activity. I don't know why they called my number, but I indicated it was the wrong number and was done with it.

- Amandathis number called twice this morning, and similarly left no message. when i called back, it gave a busy tone. yesterday i made a purchase online. and think this may be linked to it.
- mimithey called me Sep-17-2010 , I don't answer, I was in meeting. what's they want ?
- windyhamsI got a missed call from this number, no voicemail. I called back from a different number no answer. I dont have a BoA card or acct. Very confusing to why they called. I probably wont answer if they continue to call. They should leave a message if it's a ligitimate call.
- windyhamsI got a missed call 9-17-10 from this number, no voicemail. I called back from a different number no answer. I dont have a BoA card or acct. Very confusing to why they called. I probably wont answer if they continue to call. They should leave a message if it's a ligitimate call.
- Tillie S HalliganI rec'd a phone call from this number on 10-4-10 but didn't answer because I didn't recognize it & try to avoid solicitations.
I then got curious though, called the number & IT IS DEFINITELY THE BANK OF AMERICA FRAUD DEPT. I got information from them that validated their identity. (I didn't just accept that the person who answered was who they said they were.)
They are well-known for declining large charges they don't "recognize" on at least some of their client's cards. Such a charge was being made this morning on my card & they were calling to verify it.- Caller: BANK OF AMERICA (FRAUD DEPT)
- sandrakept on calling....
- KayThis is Bank of America's fraud monitoring number; I was attempting to make a purchase online but it wasn't going through. I got this call and they told me that I was entering the expiration date incorrectly

- Daniel Morin replies to JODARI received two letters from Bank of America from the Fraud Detection Department.
The first letter was asking me to call 1-800-635-0581 and the second letter was asking me to call 1-800-427-2449 or visit www.myfraudprotection.com. When I called the number, I noticed something strange asking for the full account number and the social security number. Instead, I called the number behind my Visa card and Bank of America told me this letter was not from them. I am investigating a bit about what is going on, however I would recommend to be careful with this letter. - MarionI rec'd a call without a message from this number. I ran it via this site and learned it might be a a B of A fraud alert number. I called B of A on a different/ known B of A number. I was transferred to the Fraud Alert Dept. The Fraud Dept advised the number was one of theirs and that they had placed a fraud alert on my B of A credit card. -- They were professional and verified the past few transactions on the card.
- Caller: B of A Fraud Alert Dept
- MeTooThis is the Bank of America Fraud Protection Dept. checking on unusual credit card activity. They called me at 8:30 a.m. today (Sunday) but did not leave a message. I also received an email Alert and an Irregular Activity alert on my online account, which was for something legitimate that I had done yesterday. I was happy to be able to resolve it online. It is nice to know that the Fraud Protection department works on Sundays and that they contacted me through every available means possible. I would recommend that anyone receiving such a phone call to NOT provide any information on the phone but rather resolve it through your secure online account, or if not online, call the phone number on the back of your credit card.

- Dr. PheliczarWhile I doubt many people will read this far down, if you happen to catch this, I offer you one word of advice - while it may be B of A, I am certain that neither my wife, my associates, nor myself have a B of A account. Further, we do not hold accounts under their umbrella of other companies. For them to call my private office line, which is a number only held by a few people such as close family and emergency situations, I say this -- BEWARE
As legit as it might be, for them to even attempt calling me at this number is cause for concern. I have absolutely no affiliation with Bank of America. None. Anyone that I do have accounts or credit with is not privy to this private line, and nobody that has the number would give it out to someone known simply as "Card Services."
I will not be answering this call again.- Caller: SCAM
- Concerned ConsumerThis I'd a fraud attempt. I calle both my bank (as I am not a b of a custumer) and b of a and they BOTH confirmed that callers from this number are ATTEMPTING FRAUD! Under no circstances should you give any information to the caller from this number. If you question them they will transfer you to the actuall b of a card services call center so it seems legit... IT IS NOT! I suspect that posts on this sit to the contrary ate an attempt by these scammers to legitemize this number. (302) 731-1166 IS AN ATTEMPT AT FRAUD! BEWARE OF CALLERS FROM THIS NUMBER!!!!
- NinerFanThis is legit. I called the BoA 1-800-427-2449 and they confirmed that someone got my card number and charged it for $400 in GA (I live in CA). They denied the charges fortunately, reissued me a new card and are sending the fraud form to fill out.
- Caller: BofA
- RRGot a call from this number, but they left no message. Caller ID did say "Card Services"
After finding this site and these posts, I called Bank of America, using the 800 # on my card. Sure enough, they transferred me to the fraud department and there was a "block" on my card because of suspicious activity.
Only problem was, the "suspicious activity" was my husband traveling out of state on vacation, and trying to buy a week's worth of groceries for a camping trip! So the charges were not unauthorized, and we sure would have appreciated BofA not making this so awkward for him. They said this was a new policy, and any time we traveled we should call and let them know. Yeah, right! Well, I guess they were looking out for us but I still wasn't very happy, neither was he. What happened to asking for ID at the point of purchase?
It would have been nice if BofA would have let us cardholders know to call them when they instituted this plan. Obviously, with them having to pick up fraudulent charges on your account if you dispute them, this way they avoid that altogether - at the inconvenience of their customer- Caller: Bank of America
