I am on the Do Not Call List...have received three calls from 401-401-0125. I have Verizon FiOS bundle of Internet, Phone, and TV. I called Verizon to see if charges were accruing on my telephone account, but so far they are not seeing any charges. Each call, there is background noise, but no one speaks until I say "hello," then the ?Indian? person mentions the "survey" and goes further into Smoke Alarm and Fire Alarm routine. I have both of those, so I am not interested, tell them I am on the Do Not Call Register and I hang up. But, they are persistant, one call has dropped off my Calller ID, but the second call registered April 1st and then another call registered today April 8th. I registered a complaint with the FTC, it is a generic complaint, only if there is fraud will they turn it over to the Local Authorities.

I had a man call me and tell me I won a home security system also!  I told him that was not possible, I am in college.  He asked my age, (I'm 20) but I told him I was 18.  He then asked my name and when I replied 'Jean,' he began murmuring about how beautiful it was and I am.  I said goodbye and he replied that he did not want to offer me anything just to talk to me and there was some noise in the background.  I hung up immediately.  I am very disturbed by this caller and I hope that some type of authority puts an end to this soon.

I don't have caller ID so don't know for sure the number that called me.  With the Indian accent I didn't understand the name of the company the guy gave but said it was "not a sales call" and did the whole fire alarm survey thing.  I answered politely until the end when he asked for my first name.  I said "no."   He said he couldn't complete the survey without it.  I said "not my problem" and then he got rude.  I told him to remove my number from his list and not call back.  A few minutes later I got another call.  I said we had just received a call and not to call back.  The guy got vulgar with me.  I have seen similar stories on other sites.  The thing that most people have in common seems to be having an unlisted number or being on the do not call list.  My theory is that this scam is a way to get around the rules of the do not call list.  Some groups are exempt -- like charities, surveys and companies with whom you have a previous relationship.  I think that using the survey is a way to collect enough info. from people so they can call back later saying they have that previous relationship.  I think that's why the guy got so rude when I wouldn't give my name.

Got several calls from this # over the weekend at our office -- no message left. Caller ID and number looked bogus, so I Googled it. Here I am. Caller ID said:

Non-native English speaker wants you to take a survey about smoke alarms.  Has called four times.  I told them I have filed several complaints and did not want to be called.  Caller quickly hangs up if you indicate you don't want to be called, or ask for specific info on the name of company, etc.

grace from general electric she said keeps calling a business number 5-7 times a day. when we ask her to stop calling she starts screaming "what you say?" and she can no longer understand english or hear me.  She then hangs up.  who is this???? and how are they getting away with this????

wow the same happened to me on 4/12 he called about the smoke alarm couldn't understand him af first, then told him I'm not interested so he told me go to hell, this guy or people need to be stopped and tell your friends/family this people could be calling to see if you have security system so they can brake in to your home. someone needs to do something asap. I'm going to call cox and block that number and hopefully trace it.

Regardless of the 401 area code, this is NOT a Rhode Island based number. If you attempt to call the # back, your friendly neighborhood pre-recorded operator will notify you that the call cannot be completed.

I got a call from this number today April 15,2010. It was a foreigner guy who said he was not trying to sell anything he also asked me if live at this particular residents. I told him no because I felt something wasn't right. He told me to hold on then he hung up after I told him I was a friend visiting.

I have also been getting these call from this number and today the machine picked up and a woman on the other end kept saying 'hello, hello, hello,' and then just hung up.  Thanks go for caller ID. Frigging scammers....u just gotta keep ahaed of them.

they just called,5:50pm central 16 april. I didn' t answer but I got a voicemail saying hello over and over. [***].

same as all of the above.  Fax printer prints out caller id reports, which shows, XXXXXXXXXX  4014010125 RI    
However, phone id just says "ringing".

I didn't answer it. I looked it up here and am glad I didn't. I"m gonna block the number now on my VOIP.

Received this call this even.  Caller ID said Rhode is Call.  A foreigner asked to speak to the 'homeowner' and I hung up.  My number is on the 'do not call register' so I made a complaint.  I would like to urge everyone who gets this call to make a compliant if they have register a phone number on the 'do not call register.

i am nineteen and they called my cell phone.
didnt answer and googled the number.
all results said it was a scam and you couldnt return their call.

Same thing here just a few minutes ago. Said his name is Sol.

Got the same call about smoke alarms. Twice. By two companies with different three-letter names.

I got this same call on my home phone and the caller id had all xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx plus the 401 401 0125

I just got the same call from this number - as with other callers, when i called it back message it could not be connected as dialed.
