they called this afternoon but I was busy checking out who was naughty.

I got a call tonight from 401-401-4010.  The man on the other end had such an accent that I could not even understand him.  He immediately put on his "supervisor".  She also had a strong chinese accent.  I asked her several questions.  I asked her where she is calling from.  She said Rhode Island.  I asked her what company was she representing and she said Monitronics.  I asked her a phone # as where  the company could be reached.  She gave me the phone # 772-965-8929.  I asked her what her name was.  She said "Sarah Lynn".  I asked her her nationality.  It took me 4 times to understand that she said "Singapore".  I repeated to her the phone # as where they could be reached and told them I was on a "DO NOT CALL LIST". She then hung up on me. I found out that the area code is not Rhode Island, but from Florida.  So, let me get this straight, I get a call from Rhode Island, that is actually Florida, and the woman is really Chinese!!!  I looked up monitronics on the internet, and called their company and told them to not call here again.

same call ... gf answered and it's a tele-marketer or something asked if we have smoke detectors! said we weren't interested and do not call back.

We have gotten calls from this number twice this week.

1st said we had been picked for a free home security system.  2nd said we had been picked for a $1200 GE.

Both times we said we weren't interested and hung up.  

Don't usually answer these types of calls but was caught in a rush and didn't have time to check the number.  Was expecting an important family call.

Guy on the phone had a heavy accent - could barely understand him but he is trying to sell home fire alarm systems ... the only way to shut him up was to hang up!!

I never answer my phone until I hear (or see) who's calling but every once in a while I check out the numbers my caller id is saving for me.  This one seems to be calling me a great deal and getting absolutely no response.  Of course it wasn't alone.  I would love for someone with the technology background to tell me where to get the phone tone that tells these callers that my line is inactive.  I would love to make "the tone" part of my phone message so all the automatic dialers on all the computers would drop my number and real people would have to call and leave a message.  Wouldn't it be lovely?

Are these people reallly this stupid?
OK..you got me down from a ladder hanging a new kitchen light and I stubed my $%^ toe running to pick up the phone ...then you breath at me and woill not speak. Try to call back .."not aworking number".
Is anybody really so dumb that they think this is a good way sell something?
Anybody find out who owns this number?

Received a call at 8:31 and I let it go to voice mail.. no message, but an immediate call back at 8:32 to which I picked up the phone just to listen.

There was a woman on the phone, not foreign, with a large amount of background noise- people talking, I could have sworn I heard silverware as if she were at a restaurant- but she said 'Hello? Hello?' giggled, and then hung up.

No more call backs but I had to look up the number because I thought it could be a prank call from a program like Skype who gives a number of 012-345-6789 when you call a land line from a computer. Nothing useful as such, just a bunch of websites like this to report them publicly- so I figure I'll do so.

Funny, I'm the girlfriend to a man who's going through a custody dispute, we just dropped off the child to his ex and she tried to start a fight in front of the child- CLASSY- I figured it could be one of her goons- but apparently it's a scam company. Interestingly enough...

Received the same call about smoke detectors about 9PM-Man had heavy Indian accent--I spoke like I did not speak English very well--I just kept talking like I didn't hear him--the guy then said f.... you! and the guy hung up

Called on Thanksgiving Day just as we were sitting down to eat. They said this was not a sales call, we hung up on them...

Made mistake of answering call. Guy comes on with super thick indian (or one of those countries) accent & quickly says company name(so you couldn't understand), then asks if i have smoke alarms. As soon as I said I was on the do not call list & why was he violating it by calling he hung up. I did some lookups on the internet & all that I could get without getting a pay subscription was that it was a mobile phone & from Rhode Island.

Got a call from 401-401-4010 with "XXXXXXXXX" as the name of the business on the caller ID.  Didn't answer.  Immediately Googled it and found this site.

I have received calls on my home and office phone also my mother has received the same.   Representative Jessica stated that she was calling for Monitronics.  Jessica stated she could not give me her telephone number or address.

Since this business is violating the do not call registry I have today 11/27/09 filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) who enforce the Do Not Call Registry.

Although this company states they are not making a sales call but they are trying to get you to make an appointment to hear about their smoke detectors so I call that a Sales Call.  If you are registered on the Federal Do Not Call list you can file a complaint and if the feds get enough info they will file a class action suit.  If you are not registered you can register today.

Call received 8:05 p.m. Nov. 27, 2009, caller ID said Rhode Island. Person asked if we had smoke detectors in the house. Just hung up on him

I got a call from that number on my cell phone at 7:05 p.m. EST on Nov 27th.  For years my current cell number was my business land line number.  I was in a different part of the house when the call came in, so I didn't hear the phone ring.  BTW - I am on the DNC list.

Got a call from the same number on 11/27/09 at 12:08 p.m. We did not recognize the number, so we let the machine get it.  They did not leave a message. As soon as we saw the number, figured it was spoofed. Also on the DNC list.  Hopefully they will give up because we will not answer the phone! If they continue to bother us, the number will be reported.

This is the 3rd time number 401-401-4010 has called me.  First time they called (11/25/09 they immediately began by asking questions about my smoke alarm (how often did I change the battery etc)  I told them my alarm system was hardwired and told them not to call again.

2nd call went to answering maching and they left no message.

3rd call was the same as the first call but I told them I was living in an assisted living facility and had no control over the smoke detectors.

I think I will take Cheryl's advice and notify the FTC since my number is already on the do-not-call list and this company (Metronomics) is in violation.  Hopefully we can win a class action against the company and get some $$ sent our way!

I keep getting calls from this number too, abd as some of you, I checked the number on the internet with no satisfaction as to who is calling, so little miss noisy me called it back and some hispanic sounding woman answer, lot'sa noise in the background and when I didn't say anything to her "hello" she hung up.
