Getting slammed by this number since the 14th of Sept.  Don't have vmail on land line so it just rings.  Pretty positive this RI thing is a spam/tele-marketer call.

I received this same call last night. I've had a bad experience with solicitor's harassing me on the phone for bogus information, so I decided to have a little fun with them. The caller id was "XXXXXXXXXXXXX RI" and I knew it was a bogus number, so I answered the call like and old man with dementia. Poor girls introduced herself as Jessica and I said, "Oooh, Jessica? I've been waiting for your call, where's your mother?"  I went on blabbering nonsense to her and she hung up after about 20 seconds of my unintelligible mumbles. It was immature, but it felt damn good doing it. Dang solicitors.

Yeah, sooo San Antonio, TX here. Got this call on 09/16/2009 at 10:18 AM. I didn't answer, but the name was the same as a previous person: "XXXXXXXXXX RI", ending in RI likely because that is the maximum number of characters my phone can display.

Theory: Since this seems to be a recurring event, and not so random as to be evasive, and further that the 401 area code correlates to Rhode Island, and that Rhode Islands top export is "scrap and waste" ($143 Million/year), this must be a newly proposed program from the state legislature where in they intend to export their waste and scrap to other areas of the country to fund a revised health care package, health care involving trash of course. Brilliant.

They called this morning @ 9:30 am EST. I'm at work so it went to voicemail. They left no message. I tried calling the number back, but got a "number can't be completed as dialed" message.

received this call at 3:30 pm.  Asking if I have smoke detectors.  Told them I wasn't interested.  They tried to say it wasn't a sales call.  Told them again not interested and they hung up on me.  id said international.

Got the call as well, 3rd time now, I just answered the phone saying "Stop calling here"

Next time I'll get more creative.

Called @9:06pm 9/17/09 no message let machine pick up.

Same thing here...a lot of background noise, and a woman who sounds like she floated here on a door started asking me if I have smoke detectors. I just hung up on her without saying anything.

Been getting calls from this # all week.  As soon as I answer, they want to know if I've got smoke detectors.  I say, No, I'm not interested and they respond that it's not a sales call.  I told him today I'm on DNC list and he says ( in a really thick accent like the two callers prior to him) "Oh really, when did you register? Again this is not a sales call, I only have a few questions to ask for the safety of your community."  I hung up.  Lots of noise in the background.

Man with Indian? accent asked If I had fire alarms in house.  I hung up.  Spoofed number was either trying to sell something or a prank call.

I received my first call from this number at 6:15 9/19. I let the machine get it and they left no message. Like everyone else I searched for it and was lead here. The second call came in at 8:30 9/19. I answered and was told in a heavy and hard to understand accent that said they were from MTronics and asked if I had a smoke detector. I replied that it was odd that they were calling since I was on the Do Not Call List. The man immediately said M'Bye Bye and hung up. I, of course searched online and found this website   -   www.mtronics.com  which is for a company that sells electronics out of Huntsville, Alabama.

I received a call at 11:15am EST on 9/21.  They did not leave a voicemail.

I just got the second call in a week from the same heavy accent male who immediately said it was not a sales call...I told him again I was not interested and hung up...am going to call my local NBC station and have their consumer dept look into this "not a sales call"...and I am on a DNC list as well...interrupted my last few minutes of Ellen!! aarrgghh..

I just got a call from this number. I live in New England. I don't know if they are only calling New England or the whole country. I'm too busy now, but if I get this call again, I will report it to the FCC.

Crooks can spoof Caller ID, but they can't spoof the phone company's own call records, which the FCC can subpoena, if they get enough complaints. Your Caller ID should also show the accurate call time, because it syncs with the US atomic clock regularly. That'll help them find the caller.

Never answer for an unidentified caller. Never call them back. A lot of this stuff is done by housebreakers, pretexters, kidnappers, and organized crime. Tell your children to do the same.

If you call them back, it might be a charge call. They're not all 900 area code numbers.

Called but hung up on answering machine. Too bad, I could have told them about a lot of my victims who will definitely be in the market for smoke alarms and fire extinguishers. (just kidding)

I hope this [***] calls again, just so I can waste his time and get his knickers in a knot.

The 401-401-4010 number isn't found on that website, but that phone number is connected to them and took me right to their site.

I just got this call today (sept 22nd) @ 6:15pm. I picked it up and it was very noisy. The woman on the other end kept repeating that she was calling from somewhere I couldn't hear because of the noise and saying she was calling to do a fire survey. I kept asking where she was from and she kept repeating everything over. On top of that the back ground noise was horrible so I hung up.

This is a scam company that did not reveal their name, but wanted to know If I was a home owner, if I had an alarm system and how much it costs per month.

Got a call from this # at 9:10 pm 09/23/09. all X's instead of usual caller id's.  No message. Whoever just hung up after answering machine went on.
