Just had the phone ring once - 401-401-4010.  CID said it was Rhode Island.  4:43 pm eastern time.  Seems like the telephone spammers/scammers have hired a bunch of folks who can't even manage a telephone conversation.  Sometimes karma gets you!  LOL!

extreme background noise. couldn't understand the woman because of it and her thick accent. i was stupid and told them i was the baby sitter. lol guess i should lock the doors =\

Just received a call from same RI number 401-401-4010 at 8:10 pm on 10/8.  Did not answer, no message was left on my VM.

I took the call at one of my phones that doesn't have caller ID. Heavily accented male. I didn't get the company name (if he even gave one) but he started on the fire alarm survey. I just told it wasn't any of his business whether I had an alarm or not, and hung up.
If they call again I'm going to drop a dime on them.

It's now 9:00 PM 10/08/09.
I called the national DNC number (1-888-382-1222) and listened to and followed the prompts.
Apparently "survey" calls are allowed, so by starting their pitch that they are taking a survey on whether we have a fire alarm or not is perfectly acceptable.
Next time I am going to play along!

These are like baiting calls.  After you answer their questions, someone else from Monitronics will call to try to sell you a security system.  I got the follow up call from 401-385-3583.

I answered a couple before deciding that I did not care to confirm or deny anything to them.  I asked her to repeat the company name (Metronics? - still did not understand completely) and told her that wanted to be removed from all their phone and mailing lists (at which point she hung up on me without a word).

the number showed up on caller id, unknown!  didn't answer it.  they called back again right away when my machine picked up they hung up again!  who are these people?

Having worked in telecom, I'm worried that they may be making phone calls through your phone. I would contact your telecom provider and ensure that you aren't getting long distance charges. If you voice mail has a default pass code, then it's time to change it asap.

Got a call at 9:20 P.M. from this number! The first time they called I answered and all I heard was clicking noises, no one answered, so I hung up. They called back a min later and a woman with an accent started talking. I have no idea what she said other than that it was a survey and she was wondering if I have fire alarms. I told her it was after 9PM and to take me off the list. She hung up on me.  Lets see if they call back.

I just got the same call from:  401-401-4010.  Indian man, said only a survey and not a sales call.  Asked if I have smoke det, and replace batteries, asked if I have fire extinguishers in the house.  Then asked if I had alarm system.  Asked which I was most concerned about:  fire, burglary or medical conditions, or all three. Told him all of the above. He was polite but confirmed my name and wished me a wonderful day.  Now, I am concerned because I am on the no call list!

dude this wierd mexican guy jus called and was talkin to my sister bout smoke alarms, then he just hung up. so freakin wierd

I received a call from this number on 10/9/09 at 2:41pm. The man made it clear it wasn't a sales call, however, had survey questions about smoke detectors. I was making sure not to say "yes" to anything because he was wanting a yes or no answer.
This man was insulting to me. He said "Do you know where I am? I am in India? Have you heard of India?" I said yes and was laughing because it was a ridiculous question. He said "We like American girls." This man has alluded to the idea that I am an ignorant [***]. He was never in an attacking tone of voice, however, this is not appropriate behavior and should not continue.

just received this call.  Caller ID had "Rhode Island Call".  When I picked up, no one was there.

They just called back asking about "home security" - I told him that I didn't want to answer a survey and to take me off whatever list I was on.  He got rude with me and told me "listen - listen - listen - this is NOT a sales call!  I told him to remove me from the call list and I was very secure in my home.  He hung up the phone abruptly."

got the same call...answered it and it sounded like someone strumming a guitar and didnt wanna talk .....

NO FVCKEN ANSWER TO MY VERY POLITE HELLO!!!...THERE WAS LOUD HUMMING IN BACKGROUND...MUST HAVE BEEN VIBRATOR FACTORY....HOPING SOMEONE WOULD ANSWER SO I COULD USE MY VAST KNOWLEDGE OF PROFANE WORDS!!!

I have been receiving calls from 401-401-4010 for about a month now. If an answering machine answers they are instructed to hang up immediately. If you answer,they offer to install a home security system in your home in exchange for letting them place a small sign in your yard. The installation & 6 months of their service is offered for free. I warned the person that I was on the Do Not Call Registry, but was told they were not selling me anything. I asked what happens after the 6 month free service, won't they be trying to sell me a service contract then? At this point, I was told that since I would have agreed to the installation & sign placement, I would have shown interest in their business & therefore have given them permission to contact me regardless of the Do Not Call Registry. This company claims to be in Rhode Island & uses a 3 letter company name. This is just a telemarketing trick to bypass the Do Not Call Registry.
