Got this call today, 10/22 @ 6:55 pm.  Lady came on and asked if I had any fire extinguishers in the home.  How odd, so I hung up.

My phone has been ringing none stop for 3 days now!
My answering machine is full.
Caller I.D. shows 1-401-401-4010...
I can't eat, I can't sleep!
I'm afraid to leave my house!!!!

I just got his call myself. It was on my answering machine.  And the caller ID had that number on there.

I got this call a while ago , and stupidly answered it without first thinking, because I have a friend in R.I. and if I would have thought about it,
I would have realized it was a bogus number 401-401-4010. Beware and do not answer this call if you have caller ID

A call from this number came through on our voice mail at 6:10 PM this evening. Oct. 23rd. Just scratchy noise.

I actually answered this call since we don't have caller id.  It was a young guy with lots of noise in the background.  He said his name was Kevin and he wanted to know if we had working fire alarms in the house! I *69'd it and then *57 to trace it.

I just got this call Oct 24 7 pm ...man on the other end saying to check my battery ...I ash him his name and phone number and he hung up...

Got the sam call as Ken received ...when I asked for a name and phone number to cal bvack ...they hung up.

They called me about noon on a Monday and they actually talked to me!   They said they were with some "alarm company" offering a special deal.  The caller had such a bad middle eastern accent I could hardly understand the 3 letter abbreviation of the company he said he represented.  I told them I was on the DNC list and by federal law they were required to give me their company name and phone number.  I asked to speak to the manager or the callers boss.  I couldnt understand the second person that came on the phone either.

I continued to [***] them out for calling me!  ITs my phone, if they wanna bother me I'm gonna give em [***]!

They called me around 1:00 today asking whether we have fire alarms installed...same deal...annoying. I'm glad this web site exists

someone just called my cell 4rm this # (oct. 27, 2009: 6:00 p.m.). It is wierd how that number is so random ppl actually look it up when it calls...lol:)

Have received calls from this number several times, the most recent was today at 6:37 p and 8:01p. He called land line and I let machine get it. He started singing, how funny.

Got this last night.  Went to my land line but had my all-in-one printer turned on and the call went to my fax line.  Hope they liked that sound in their ear!  :-)

i just got the call earlier today as well. at 6:19pm Central time.

I answered the call today at 3:25 pm.  A woman with an Indian accent tells me this is not an "(inaudible) call". She just wants to know if I "have a smoke detector, yes or no". In the past few months, I have received a few calls from a man with an Indian accent with basically the same script: "I am calling from (inaudible). This is not a sales/marketing/(inaudible) call. I just want to know if you have a smoke detector, yes or no."  I NEVER answer 'yes' or 'no'. I simply reply I am not answering any questions and hang up. I don't want my answer being recorded as authorization for some illegal activity or international calls. The time before this call, when I asked the gentleman to repeat where he was calling from, he wouldn't answer me, he just repeated his smoke detector question, more insistently, asking me to answer 'yes' or 'no'. I made it a point to tell my husband & kids that if they forget to check caller i.d. and they answer such a call, never answer questions.

The no call lists, phone companies, politicians could care less about the public being inconvenienced by these cretins.

You need a computer, voice modem and easy to setup.

Just received a call from the number in question and, like others, looked it up.  Am posting to continue the trail of phone calls.  I'm in West Virginina.

Got a call here today also (WV)...they must be hitting 304 area code today...LOL
Didn't answer, my machine auto-blocked it, so it's obviously not originating from the area code in the caller ID. SPOOFED.  Better luck next time ;p

Received the Rhode Island call 2nd time today (11/2) at 1 PM. First was a day or so ago. He asked about smoke alarms. I told them not to call.
Land Line 610 area.

I just got this call for the first time today!  Call came in at 11:33 AM EST from 401-401-4010 and I just had to look this up and here is this amazing thread about this very number!!  For tracking...I live in Southern Pennsylvania...let the tracking continue!  It was a very scratchy line and was a female voice that I could not hear very well at all...EEEK!!!
