The caller claimed to be from Dell. I did fill out a survey and complained about not being able to do ‘one time payment’ on my account. He wanted my SSN to fix the issue. It sounded legitimate but I still did not give out my SSN and told him that I would continue with automatic payments until the website was corrected.

Dell would not need your SSN. Not to take a payment or correct a problem. This was a scam.

You are either a SHILL or living in a fools paradise.  I have had many calls from scammers who spoof the number and the name Dell in my caller ID.

Read back over the posts here and you will see that your advice is bad and calls can be anything but "valid."

Got a call from this #, I didn't answer. Came here and saw people posting this is a legit # RE orders for Dell. I didn't buy anything, didn't call, nor did I email. Nothing should have prompted this call. I call BS, probably a scam/phishing call.

Received a call for owner of business.  Jarred said he was from Dell and was our new point of contact.  I let him know he would be able to reach the owner via email.  At first he said that he had the email address, but he did not and I did not provide.  Sounded phishy to me.  Glad I read your comments.  I will not be leaving message for owner.

Received a call from a woman with an Indian accent who said she was calling from Dell amd wanted to confirm an order.  I have not shopped with Dell nor ordered anything from Del.  But oddly enough she knew my name.  I told her she had the wrong person, and that I had nothing to do with Dell.   She said she was so sorry and hung up.  Very odd.

It is a bit much as you cannot understand half of what they are saying and they tend to get annoyed because you ask them what they said. They are extremely nasty and rude most times.  Dell took and outsource the jobs to East Indian and tap into a billion of people to work for cheaper labor....  There is apparently pro and cons to every situation but the CONS appears to be LEAVING many Americans without out jobs.

"Maybe the guy works for Dell, but I still found his questions suspicious...and apparently unneccessary since my order shipped.  I can't help but wonder if maybe the employee might be doing a little identity theft on the side." I totally agree.... Mr. Dell does not realized how deceitful some of these people are from that culture in East India.... They need to vet who they hire better.

Here's the situation as I see it. I've dealt with Dell before. The number is legit, but that does not mean that all the reps are. Some of the phone calls you receive from this number might be legitimate, but I also feel that Dell employs some overseas employees that are a bit shady. I also think some of these reps might pass along your contact info to people for unscrupulous uses. I'm not making a judgement on ALL these people. The USA has a ton of [***] people too. Also, there are many methods to make a phone call appear too be from a # you know, but in reality it isn't. If you've had recent business with Dell, I'd take the call, but would be extremely careful about the information I gave out

I applied to reopen my Dell Financing account through the Dell website. I was approved, then placed the order. I started receiving calls from this number. I contacted Dell myself and asked if it was a legit call. But today, I received a declined application for Xbox All Access that went through on the same day as my Dell application. I had to dispute the application and put a freeze on my credit accounts. I will not respond to the phone call messages at this point. People are just horrible, and it can’t be a coincidence this went through on the same day I put in the application.

I used to be a Dell customer, but it became clear the number was both being spoofed AND my Dell info had been either hacked or sold to scammers in India. Their name and number on incoming calls can not be trusted. Ever.
