This IS Dell. They were following up on a repair I had made to my son's laptop.

    Irked at Dell
Legitimate or not, they do not need to be calling my cell and my home phone repeatedly one time after another, up to 4 times in a row per phone within a 5 minute period, before 7 am!  Plus, yes, i own a Dell.  It was new a year ago.  At that time, i could nopt get help with my issues for the life of me...  and was chjarged $150 or so dollars just to speak with a rep who talked me into buying a service contract, which cost me another $150 (for 3 service assists/1 yr--only if they fit into the strict parameters of their deal), and the one time after that I did call for help I had to spend over five hours on the telephone with some guy from India who I had trouble understanding, and was sooo late for work, with my problems largely still unaddressed.  After that I have been gun shy about calling for my other computer problems, even though i have the contract paid for, cause I do NOT want to spend another freaking five hours on the phone with India dude for all the tea in china.  But, I digress...
SO, if this is Dell, then they have also been calling me from another 800 number.  800-289-3355.  Same MO.  I do not answer, but they call several times in succession late at night or too EARLY IN THE MORNING, AND THEY ALL BOTH MY LAND-LINE AND CELL PHONE AT ONCE.  i OWE THEM  NOTHING SO IT COULD NOT BE IMPORTANT REGARDING  MY ACCOUNT..  I PAID it off within a month of (sorry caps) when I bought it.
    Grrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!  Aaarrhhhhhghhhh!!!!

    smarter than scammers
I received a call (on my cell phone) from 800-456-3355 today around 4:30. I missed the call but they left a voicemail. It was a man with a strong Indian accent telling me my Dell order would be cancelled if I didn't call him back at 866-383-4713 x 4161467 ... he even hesitated as he gave the extension number... (I guess he dropped his cliff notes)....

I don't own a Dell, I've never ordered a Dell, I've never gone to the Dell web site to look at a Dell, I've never called Dell.... nor have I placed an order for anything including pizza in the past month!

I did however google both the above numbers and it seems that somehow someone has used that d@mn software to make it look like they have called from a legit Dell phone number and are trying to get me to call back a fake number...

I have visions of that credit card commercial spoofing boiler room overseas customer service departments... 'hello, my name is Peggy'

Nice try..... And you expect me to call back.... good luck with that!!!

These guys are scamming.  They told me that there was a conflict with my computer.  So, I believe that someone that works with Dell is giving/selling phone numbers for hackers/scammers to call and harass.  They have been calling my home phone also from (999) 910-0328.  So, I think Dell employees are giving out the numbers of legitimate customers.

Made a massive server/station purchase from Dell a couple months ago. Today the phone calls as noted above have begun. We are a business, the caller ID was blank except for the number, the caller never identified themselves and asked only for the owner of the business. of course the owner wasn't (and what business owner ever is) available to take the call and the caller refused to leave a message or their name or their company name.

Someone please forward these messages to Dell.  Stop outsourcing/selling sales info.  Use names and leave messages if calling on legitimate business.  Fire your call center and find a new one if they cannot comply, and you know, HIRE AMERICAN!

yep - confirming this is a dell phone number.  i saw this number on my phone several times after having helped a friend get some dell warranty service on a laptop, but they never left a message.

then, as i was on this site, i received an e-mail from dell regarding the service call/warranty issue.  the e-mail mentioned them trying to contact me over the past 3 days, and that they were unsuccessful.

so, for me, continuing to ignore the call paid off.

Its Dell. I was doing a replacement and while I was speaking to a customer service rep to send back the laptop, they called me on my cell to confirm the shipment of the replacement.  So no worries.

No identity theft going on there. He was asking all those questions because he wanted to make you feel committed to buying something else he was going to offer from Dell. This is usually a warranty type of service. I must've recieved like 6 of these calls in the months following my purchase of a laptop. It gets really annoying with them always pressuring you and trying to make better and better offers. He was probably just preparing to charge your card again or something.

This is one of Dell's technical support lines. I had ordered a warranty replacement hard drive and they were calling to make sure that I had received it. For those of you who didn't have any dealings with Dell, they most likely had a wrong number.

Three calls to my office on Sunday. Devi from Dell left a message that she will call again. We use Dell but do not have any open issues with them.

An 'East Indian' type male left a message on my machine that he was calling from Dell just to make sure my 'machine' was working all right. He said he was sorry he missed and that he'll call back. He didn't leave a number so I could return his call.

I've been using Dell since late 2004. This is the first time ever that anyone supposedly from Dell has ever called to check if my computer was working OK.

I'm very suspicious of calls that are not from people I know. Too many of these 'lower credit rates' calls. Calls where no one answers. Calls where a person who's never lived here is asked for. And so forth. All are annoying but I don't answer them anymore. If they wish to leave a number so I can return a call, I still will check both numbers prior to doing any return calling. There's always someone out there who wants to help me lose weight: i.e., take my money from me!

A legitimate follow up call from Dell Technical Support.

I initiated the transaction on the internet, and gave them my number.

I got excellent service, by the way.

I recently ordered a DELL computer. They ONLY asked my middle initial & THET told ME what my address was. So I assume that I forgot to add that while filling out the on-line information as I ordered the PC. However it doesn't hurt you when they call. Whit the increase of idenity theft, this could actually help you - provided someone has your credit card information.
