Sounds to me like this is a legitimate number from Dell, but scamsters are also using technology to have this number fraudulently show up on caller IDs.

Got a call today - Just a checking if I was satisfied with Dell.

It always bothers me when a person calls and immediately asks if I'm (insert first name here).

The proper way is to introduce yourself first, as in "I'm Bill (Indian accent) from Dell, is this (insert first name here)?" That's the proper way to do it.

Dell, you need higher standards for your reps - they are acting as your agents - they're you.

Got a call my cell from this number.  Answered it but no one was on the line.  I waited a good 4 minutes waiting for someone to come on the line to ask that my number be removed from their "service".  No one ever did.

Got a weird call from this number tonight from woman saying she was from Dell to verify an order I'd placed. Fair enough - it was a gift and so the shipping address was only not the same as my billing address (not unusual) but not in the same state. She asked me to confirm the ship to address, which I did, but only gave the street address, not the city or state for privacy. She then asked for my billing address. This brought me up short. While I've not found it unusual to be called to confirm an order, especially if I've never ordered from a company before, they've never asked me for anything like my billing address. I asked her why she needed that. She wouldn't tell me, but repeated her question. I asked if there were another way of getting this done. She just kept repeating she wanted my billing address. I asked to speak to her manager, politely. She refused. I asked again. Got nowhere. I hung up, called Dell customer service and ended up getting sent round in circles, hung up on, told my order was in some sort of limbo as I explained this over and over and over again. I FINALLY got through to a lovely man called Surria in Sales, who told me he had no idea why I was even called to confirm the order in the first place - it was out and on it's way. ??????

I found this confirmation call to be odd, to say the least. It was unprofessional and the information asked for would not have prevented a fraudulent purchase. Obviously, whomever made this online purchase  - and that would be me - had the necessary information so the order wasn't "kicked out" at checkout. If Dell's calling the phone number on the order, then the person answering is going to be able to confirm everything, since they put it in. It's like a snake, swallowing its tail.

Here's a thought, Dell - ask the person for nonsensitive information, such as the order number.

I just received a call from this number.  It was Dell calling to verify my order that I placed with them last week.  They didn't ask me for any information.  They just wanted to confirm that I had placed the order and told me when to expect my items to be delivered.

We got a call from this number today- twice in a row.  the second time they left a message.  it was a woman who sounded Indian and said that she was calling from Dell, that they had received my return and that my account would be credited within 9-10 business days.  she then left a phone number and extension to call back.  Considering that we have not returned anything to Dell, I was pretty sure this was a scam.  And there are ways of stealing phone numbers or phone IDs so a legitimate phone number shows on your caller ID rather than the true phone number of the caller.

I just got the same caller who tried to sell me some additional software support for $235.  I told her no way and called Dell.  Dell informed me they had gotten many calls about this and just ignore them.  I closed my account.  I was told by Dell Financial Support that they couldn't have gotten my information.  The account had my husbands info but they called me.  So how else would they get it.  If the account is closed that's one less scam on my credit.  LOOK OUT FOLKS. IT'S NOT DELL CALLING!

I received a call from 800-456-3355 claiming to be Dell wanting to sell me software support for my most recent purchase on my credit account.  I said no of course.  It sounded fishy right from the get go because Dell had my husbands cell number and email and they called me on my digital phone number and had my email address.  Dell don't have that info.  When I contacted Dell Customer Service said they had been getting a lot of these caller complaints and that it was a scam, just ignore them.  I spoke with the Financial Support department to verify my account was still balance zero and they said no way the hackers got into their system.  I said bull.  If these folks had my account number they got hacked.  I closed my account with Dell.  This isn't happening on my watch.  FYI

I did this week buy a computer from Dell, but didn't answer since it ID'd as TOLL FREE CALL. Came here and find out it's Dell, and this is their main customer contact number. If you haven't bought anything from Dell then there is a problem.

Legitimate call from Dell. I had called Dell recently about an issue with an order of mine. The person on this call addressed me by name and referenced the specific product that I had called earlier about.

I get calls from these people 2 or 3 times a week, 2 each day they call. They are trying to lower my credit card interest, which means for dummies they want me to give them my card number. Not damn likely. This is NOT a Dell number. I don't know where you got that info from but it is wrong, I just got 2 call from them in the past hour. NOT DELL!!!!!!!

call came in from this number. but when asked for call back number, was given 512-725-0452. Why would we be given a long distance number to call back on? It is a scam. just got off line with Dell and this call back number is NOT one of theirs and the account number this person gave me was not valid. They tried this back in November too.

This number is in fact a legitimate Dell number. I recently looked into financing a new Dell, then decided against it. It seems the information got to Dell even though I'd assumed I'd cancelled it before completing the application. In any case it was Dell verifying the order and financing, which I declined. All things aside, this is not a scam number as far as I can tell and it does go back to Dell.

I received  numerous calls from this number.  A partial ring, not fast enough to pick it up. Then it continued to do the same thing about 7 times.  I'm not calling it back after reading all these messages..
