This is Dell Technical support follow up call on services provided to make sure all was OK. Yes they speak with a heavy accent but they know what they are doing and have called at least two more times after the issue was resolved. The callback they give is a different number along with an extension for them directly. It is a different number than the one shown here that also shows up on the caller ID as 800 456-3355.

I found a message on my work phone this morning from 800-456-3355.  I could not understand the name of the person who called from Dell because he had a very thick Indian accent.  He was calling to let me know that my recent order for 3-24" monitors was placed on hold and could not be shipped because while I update my address, I updated the P.O. Box.  They can not deliver to a P.O. Box.  He wanted me to respond to his email......of course he didn't leave an email address.   I never placed such an order.

Just received a call for "Dell" wanting to confirm my order and account. I didn't order anything and don't have an account. It's a scam of some kind!

Someone is definitely ghosting the number. In my case I had to ask 3 times before I understood he was saying "Dell Financial Services". He then said he was calling because our previous call was disconnected and they hadn't confirmed my mother's maiden name...seriously???  I haven't purchased from Dell in over 2 years and would have to have serious short-term memory issues to forget if I had been on the phone with them previously!

It may a call from Dell, but they have my email and can contact me that way. This number calls and never leaves a message. I personally doubt it is from Dell and more likely a scam call. The persons herein saying it is Dell are likely cohorts.

    Beware of this scam!!!!
SCAM! SCAM! SCAM!! I originally got a call from this number 3/23/17. The caller did leave a message stating they were calling from Dell and wanted to confirm an order I had recently placed. The number she gave me to call was not the number that called my phone. The number she gave me was 866-821-0268. When I call that number it rings once then it states, "thank you for calling Dell Financial services, please hold for the next available representative. I didn't hold I hung up. However, I didn't recently place ANY order with Dell!! I called a number for Dell that I found online and asked if they called me? She asked if I had placed an order. I told her that is what I was trying to get to the bottom of. They told me most likely it was someone trying to scam me. Today I actually was able to answer the call from the same number that called me 3/23/17. A man with a thick foreign accent stated he was inquiring about an order I recently placed. I told him I didn't order anything. He then said oh well then someone must have fraudulently ordered something in my name and he would be able to open a case and get to the bottom of it. He then stated he would need to ask me a couple of questions then he would provide a case number for me. I had to put him on hold for a moment, when I returned to the call I asked what his name was. He told me it was Ivan. He then proceeded to ask me for the best number to reach me at. I told him it was the number he called me on. He then asked for my address. I told him if he was really calling from Dell he would have that information and how about he tell me and I would tell him if it was correct. He then said, "Do you live in MD?" (well duh he knows that from the area code of my phone number). I said yes. He said, " okay then." I then asked him if he had the street address? He said, "Does it start with a 1?" I then told him I would call Dell directly myself and find out what is going on. He said let me give you the number. I told him that was ok I have it. He then willingly gave me his employee ID/badge number. I have searched on Dell.com and found no number on their website matching the number that called me I also have gone onto Dell Financial services website and found no number on that website matching the number that called me or the number that was left on my voice mail. THIS CALL IS DEFINITELY A SCAM!!!!! BEWARE!! DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFORMATION AT ALL NOT EVEN YOUR ADDRESS.  If this was truly Dell and you have an account with them they wouldn't ask for any personal information as they would be able to tell you what they have in their system for you and then you could tell them if that was correct or not!!! I hope no one falls for anything these idiots are trying to do!!!!!!

Got a call a few hours after I placed my order. Was odd since it was 9:30pm but I guess it might not be odd given the caller was in India. The order had a different billing and shipping name and address so it makes sense that might flag something. He did ask for name on the Billing Address. He asked to confirm the shipping address and my email. Then said he was going to email me and I needed to confirm the order. Below is our exchange:

The email I received only said Hi
    I then responded Hello
He responded : need your ID prrof
I responded: read your email again. It does t make sense
He responded: Its Ok sir you understood that you need to provide ID proof
I responded:that is not even English. What is ID proof
He responded: Sir We need your Drivers license or Passport copy
I responded: Absolutely not. Dell would never ask for that
He responded: thank you for your verification. Your order is processed

I also then received a legitimate confirmation email from Dell that he order was processed

My verdict- this is Dell but the person calling was definitely shady and was trying to get extra information that wasn’t really needed. Maybe for his own gain.

Received call from this number on my work cell phone I was driving so I did not pick it up.  I used to work in telecom so I know that while the number itself might be legit, the system making the call can display any number they want.  I don't know any reason Dell would have to call this number.
