I got a call from this number and no one answered or said anything.

received a call from 8005551212 said my name had been given to them for a free security system.... then he ask "if he could just have my name first and last" really???? you just said my name had been chosen.  Oh he said I'm just in a call center I have to transfer you to the right people. OK? NO. he hung up!

This call is unidentifiable and seems to come for the Carolinas.  Don't know anyone from the Carolinas and don't owe anyone any money.

Got a call from this number today but didn't answer. Thanks to all who posted something...it confirmed the need to block this number.

It is only Directory Assistance if you call them.  It is a scam if they call YOU!

Robo call--claims to be offering a security system; if you listen to the end, they offer the option of pressing "2" to be removed from their list, but I'm not sure that will actually work. Seems like I've had this number call me before.

They didn't leave a message but they're consistently calling me from the 800 Directory Assistance line 555-1212

Scam call for winning prize from foreign country

I got the same thing today.

I received a call from this number today. No one answered and the call ended right away. Tried calling it back and it went to AT&T Toll Free which asked what listing I was looking for. I tried stating the phone number and got nothing. Not sure if this is related to the 3 other calls I got yesterday from unknown numbers from Bedford, NH, Clayton, CA, and Buckinghamn, PA. No one on the line when I answered. When I called it back, it did not identify which company it was for and gave the option to be put on the Do Not Call List.

I got this call number on my cell phone. I do not answer unknown callers. Glad I do because after reading in this whocallsme site, I identify another one of many scams to phish for information.

For the past few days I've been getting spam robocalls, this is one of them.

Recorded message saying they were AT&T directory assistance.

I think the telemarketers are spoofing a legitimate number for directory assistance.  So if you call that number back you will get the real directory assistance, which is voice-activated, not the telemarketers who want your information.  Maybe they think that because the 800-555-1212 is a recognizable legitimate number for "directory" you will be fooled when they tell you they need your info for their "directory."  However I just saw a missed call from that number on my cell phone and the caller ID says FRONTIER.
