- DJ replies to Mr. W. MannYour experience with Chase is nearly identical to mine. I am sick and tired of being harassed continually; I've never done business with Chase and I've had the same cell phone number for about 10 years--it is now being changed.
- JayC| 1 replyMy two cents: If you don't pick up, and they don't leave a message, it can't be legit. These scammers thrive on getting a "live" person on the line, perhaps a senior citizen, from whom they hope to extract information like SSN's by rattling them a bit.
If I have a spare moment and opt to answer the call, I simply say, "I'm glad you called; I want to talk to you about this. But can you hold a second?" Then, I play this wonderful recording from YouTube:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8-yU5Ekv14U&feature=related - Ritta replies to Hate Chase FinanceBe very cautious! This number shows up many times over in this forum as being a scam. I need not remind you that getting our personal information like account number, names, emails, address, or any other public information is just a click away and not very difficult or expense to obtain either. So just because the call appears legit because they have some personal information you do not give any information over the phone. And if you consider doing so not until you have done your research too. I received a call from 800-848-9380 on 7/10/13 at 4:45 p.m. and once this person by the name of Vanessa identified herself and established the reason for her call at my request, I then listened patiently. Before complying with her request by answering any of her questions, first and foremost, I exercised my rights by asking questions of my own. Usually most scam will not allow to be scrutinized and at this point would have hanged up or shown some sort of hostility towards my questioning. But Vanessa remained calm and told me she was calling on behalf of Chase Manhattan Bank, she proceeded by adding she was in "collection" and our conversation may be recorded and in the pursuit of collecting a debt....the usual legal statement used by collection agencies in general. I asked for her full name and was denied. I asked for the business phone and address and was given 800-848-9136 but Vanessa replied she can't provide an address. I asked why she replied cause there is no address, I continued to push the issue and explained that my rights were being violated and asked to speak with management because without full disclosure to determine if in fact they are who they say they are I would end the call. I was put on hold until Vanessa went to fetch mgmt. Please remember that when you're on hold they can still hear you, and it does not necessarily mean you will be speaking with a manager. You may be speaking with another coworker-- You just never know. Because this idea of protecting themselves by not given full names is a lot of non-sense and I just do not buy it. PEOPLE! We have a right in this country to establish and verify the legitimacy of an unsolicited phone call by asking for full names, rank, title, contact information, address, department, etc., prior to volunteering any personal information to anyone regardless who is asking regardless of who it is or what they say!! And make sure to ask for proper spelling. No back to this fiasco, I was transferred to someone who claimed to be the "escalation manager" whose name is Kristopher and was told that they are located in Panama City, Panama but that he "...would not provide an address because it is company policy". At this point the conversation is terminated by the simple fact that I am unable to verify the legitimacy of the call and I was not in any obligation to provide them with any answer. Not just simply that I am unable to verify their claim that "this caller" is Chase but this "collection department" has not right to contact me since my loan is in good standing. In addition "they" do not reside in the United States and thus have no jurisdiction over my loan. Well, to say the least, I took control over this infringement and advised them as to what to do with their questions and to stop the harassment by not calling me again. Simple has that! And may I add that while I was on hold waiting to be connected with management I dialed the number shown on my caller ID 800-848-9380 and the one Vanessa gave me 800-848-9136 and both responded as being Chase. Still, and please remember, you have rights too under the law. Excise your rights!!!
- robertthey called @ 8 am i wish call them back ass=holes
- Tess replies to Hate Chase Finance| 1 replyComcast lets you block calls so they won't ring through at all. I don't remember how many numbers they allow you to block for free. I think it is between 10 & 20. I would imagine most phone service providers offer this service. Good luck!!!
- Van Venn replies to Hate Chase FinancePlease take a message for me and post here what they want. I had the same phone number as you with Cricket.
- Google Voice replies to TessI give out my Google Voice # and block them.

- AppleMan replies to Chase CustomerUmmm it absolutely IS a chase number! It's not a scam it's the collections dept number for mortgages. It's even on their statements..
- NotAScam replies to JayCI work as a collections agent and 99% of the time we don't leave messages. Some states don't allow us to and we can't give even a reason for the call on a vm anyways. Unless I verify that I'm speaking to who I'm calling for I can't give the reason for the call it's personal info . Everything is not a scam ppl! If u don't do business w this company then block the # or ask them to remove it. We don't call ppl for no reason. If u lent someone money to buy a home and they stopped paying u, wouldnt you call them???

- Kimberly FordI am the Office Manager for the Reclamation District 784, located in Arboga, CA. We have been receiving hang-ups from this number around 8:20am every single morning, now going on 3 years. We have reported it before. I have called this number but cannot get a live person just an electronic recorded message stating "Welcome to Chase, please enter the last four digits of your social security number then #, then please enter your account number then #, then please enter your mailing address zip code then #". But it won't accept any numbers it then states " Please hang up and call back when you have that information." It will not give you any options to speak to a live human. This becoming almost harrassing. It interrupts our business daily and sometimes calls again in the afternoon. I have tried to answer this call when it rings but when I answer it hangs up. Please give me direction as to who I can reach to put an end to this.
- Caller: Chase Bank

- OliviaChase is my mortgage company so I have lots of experience with them. For many years I did not work - my spouse did - and occasionally the mortgage would fall behind. They called frequently during this time. A couple of years ago, I started a job and was able to put the mortgage payment on autopay - a HUGE accomplishment because it was almost two months behind when I started and the account had to be completely up-to-date before it could be done. 3 months ago I lost my job; my boss went to work for another company. I've had to remove the account from autopay because of financial downsizing and I've paid the last two months before the end of the month with late charges. This is the way Chase explained it to me a couple of years ago when I discussed their calls at length with them. Chase can call me any time they please regarding a payment that is due after the first of the month. EVEN IF the payment is not technically late until the 15th ... they can call you asking when you plan on paying it. They say the payment is DUE on the 1st and they have the right to call about it any time from then. I advised them they were not giving good customer service by doing this since most people had no idea exactly when they'd be able to pay at the beginning of the month for that month or the next. Yes, they've even asked me when I planned to pay the next month's. I don't want to lie to you, Chase, but you're not accomplishing anything by forcing me to state a date I know I can't meet. I don't ever give them a date. I just paid the payment for July 2014 on July 31. That was 3 business days ago and I received a telephone call from this number today. I'm sure they'd ask when I plan on paying the August 2014 on 8/4/14. The man wouldn't speak to me since my spouse's name is on the account and I didn't bother to remind him that I am authorized to speak on it - I handle all of the finances. I didn't receive any calls while the account was on autopay. Obviously, nothing was late but the autopay was set up to take place on the 14th of every month, just before the late fee would kick in, and was not paid directly after the 1st. I'm sure Chase identifies accounts they think are questionable and calls them accordingly. [[SHRUGS]] It feels like harassment when they call a couple days after the beginning of the month. I'm sure others would say they are protecting their investment.
