- e.haDon't think it's a scam. I got a call from this number, but became suspicious when they asked for my account number and birthday. So I asked them to leave their phone number with me. Meanwhile, I called the number on the back of my Chase card, and sure enough, there had been some major unauthorized charges. Whether you believe this number is fraudulent or not, if you get a message/call from them, you REALLY, REALLY need to call that number on the back of your Chase card to make sure everything is ok with your account.
- Caller: Chase
- ALMI received a call from 800-955-9060 and (at least for me) it was legitimate. I called the number on the back of my Chase card and they confirmed this for me. I do think it is important to call the number on the back of your card and have them transfer you just in case.
- Chasesketchy...but not a scam. Told me to call 1-800-955-9060. Just hang up and call the number on the back of your card.
- SONJATHIS NUMBER IS NOT A SCAM !!! IT IS IMPORTANT TO CALL THEM RIGHT AWAY IF YOU DO GET A CALL FROM THEM IT IS THE CHASE CREDIT CARD FRAUD DEPARTMENT SO PLEASE IF YOU DO GET A CALL DO CALL THEM AND IF YOU FEEL UNCOMFORTABLE ABOUT IT AT LEAST CALL THE # ON THE BACK OF YOUR CARD!!
- Caller: CHASE
- ValerieIt is not a scam number. It is the direct number for Chase Fraud Dept. I got a call about suspicious activity on my Chase/Mileage account. Guy wanted me to verify myself and asked who my mortgage was with and what I paid per month. I told him it was none of his business and how would I know who he was? He gave me this number to call back, 800-955-9060. I called Chase Customer Service on a different number, 800-537-7783. They transfered me to the Fraud Dept and we cleared this up.
- Caller: Chase Fraud Dept
- AdamGet a call from this number today. And at the same time, my credit card's internet account is partially locked.
I call back on the number at my credit card, and ask the operator to transfer me to this number, it is a good number. They know that I made an international purchase yesterday, amount, company, country...
Still, I do not think it is a good idea to call this number directly, because they will ask a lot of sensitive personal information to verify that you are the real owner of the credit card. - HenryCalled the 888 number on the back of the card instead and I was directly transferred to the fraud dept. There were ~$2K of attempted unauthorized charges on my account today. The number is ligit.
- Caller: Chase
- TCNot a scam - I got the call about an amazon visa applied for in my name, which of course I didn't apply for...
- RobNot a scam. Just called # on back of my card and transferred me to Chase Fraud division. Confirmed that 800-955-9060 is direct line to Chase Fraud division. No worries.
- Caller: Chase Fraud Dept
- Melchior"Got a message from 480.902.6000 about a suspicious activity on my chase visa and asked to call back at 800-955-9060. I called the customer service number on my visa to verify. Turns out to be a legitimate call. Someone tried to use my card (even though I have the card with me) at a Walmart in Georgia for a $700+ purchase!!"
I happened to have the exact experience with this gentleman/lady except the last part. It was a less than 15 dollars international purchase by myself triggering the process. My online access of my credit card was locked down so I know this might not be a scam. Since only Chase has the authority to put my credit card dysfunctional. No scam can do that. - JerryIt's a VALID call. I got the message from this number. after I call back, and enter some information, I stopped since I thought it's suspecious. I call the customer service on my card back and was told this phone number is form chase fraud department. they tried to verify something unusual on my card activities. so just called you customer service number and get it verified.
- LauraI was suspicious too. I called the number to see who it was, but I wouldn't give them any information. I called the number on the back of my credit card. And when I entered in my information, it transferred me over to the fraud department. There were some weird charges on my credit card.
So it does seem like it's legit, but just call the number on the back of your credit card instead. That's the safest thing to do.- Caller: Chase
- Tom FThe 800-955-9060 is the fraud activity number for Chase. I too was suspicious, so I called the number on the back of my card. For some reason, they said 2 fairly routine charges appeared to be "out of the normal pattern" for purchases on that card. They were minor purchases I had made. I confirmed with the operator that the 9060 number also belonged to Chase.
- www.bestdye.comTOTALLY LEGIT! This IS chase credit card. I got the call today - called back later to the phone number on one of my chase credit cards. The call was for an old creidt card I'd forgotten about and not used since 1999. They had sent me a new card to an old address I'd not used in 6 years. If you call YOUR credit card and they "don't know what you're talking about" then ask if you have an inactive account or another account they might be calling about.
- Caller: Chase Fraud Dept.
- tmcThis is NOT a scam.
I called Chase back directly twice - once using the number on the back of my card, and again from the number on their website. They transferred me directly to the fraud department, and I confirmed verbally with fraud that 800-955-9060 is valid.
THIS IS A VALID NUMBER. Being skeptical is important, but regardless of whether you believe this or not, call your credit card company and confirm. Not doing so means you are not letting their fraud department do their job.- Caller: Chase
- JasabbThis is most certainly a scam. Whoever is reporting that this is not a scap probably works for the scammers. Do not even call the company back. Contact your local credit card company to verify that there has not been any fraudulent activity. Then, post your experience here.
- Larry P in RaleighAfter seeing these comments, instead of returning the call to (800) 955-9060, I called the number on the back of my card. They went through a lengthy verification process before confirming that the number I was given would have gone directly to their fraud department. Lisa then confirmed that the Chase fraud department had called me to verify a charge (which we did not make). The card was cancelled and a new one issued. ALWAYS stick to the number on the back of your card ... better safe than sorry.

Phishing e-mails have been around for years. The term phishing comes from the use of increasingly sophisticated lures to "fish" for users' personal or financial information. In phishing, the scam artist usually sets up a spoofed web page, which looks like the real one, but is owned and operated by the phisher.

I received a call today saying it was from a fraud dept. on my amazon visa. I stopped using that card years ago, and am worried, yet they wanted all kinds of information that I refused to give them other than my name and phone number. The number is 800.955.9060. When I googled that number half of the people said it was a scam the other half it is legit. I want to know from Amazon if this is a good number. I should have NO activity on my card, and see no purchases on Amazon other than placed myself not using my amazon card. Please respond

--------------- - LevMy wife called me at work and told that we have received a call about my Chase card, and that I have to call them back at 800-955-9060. I googled this number - and found this and other web sites discussing the issue. So I decided it will be safer to call the number for customer service on the back of my card. Customer service has verified my information - and confirmed that yes, the call was legitimate, and the 800-number is legitimate. They called because they blocked my card this morning because of recent internet activity - and they wanted to verify that I recognize the charges. After i confirmed the charges - they removed the block on the card.
