- LoganI don't know why some people are posting that this number is a scam... it is NOT.
I received a call from them just minutes after I made a particularly large online purchase (I didn't answer because it was an 877 number). The voicemail message said there was possible fraudulent activity on my account and gave me a case number. Thinking this was a scam, I ignored the call. The next day they tried calling again (did not answer) and got another voicemail with a new case number. I was sure at this point that this was a scam (especially when the case numbers they gave me did not match each other). I called my bank, just to be on the safe side, and they informed me that YES this was a real, legitimate message and my transactions had a temporary hold until they could verify with me that my recent transactions were legitimate (and future transactions would be blocked on my card if I did not resolve the issue).
So I called the number back and entered my case number. At NO TIME was I asked for personal or bank account information, except to verify my name and the last four digits of my SSN. They went over the last few charges on my account to insure that they were not fraudulent. Turns out it was that one large online transaction that triggered their system.- Caller: Fraud Protection
- dvs765| 1 replyI have missed this call numerous times, on purpose. I decided to call it back tonight. They wanted my name, I gave it them, and my zip, then I stopped and asked them who they were. They said Fraud Detection Dept for Mainsource Bank and gave me the last 4 of one of my debit cards. They wanted my address, I said no, I know my address, you tell me my address and I 'll verify if you are correct, they wouldn't give out any info they said. They did give me a case number and the date of the "suspicious transaction", tomorrow I will go to the bank and verify it. Then I will reply to my own post to help settle my conscious and maybe help someone else out too.

- dvs765 replies to dvs765I just got off the phone with my bank, it was legitimate. Granted, it wasn't fraudulent, but a automatic software renewal (that I forgot about, 3 year subscription) attempted to charge my "old" debit card. I have received a newer debit card since the order. The bank declined it and thought someone had my "old" card trying to use it. SO IT WAS LEGITIMATE!! NOT A HOAX!!!
- croesusWell, I'm on the fraudulent side of this conversation. I bank with a brick and mortar and an online bank and checked with them. None of my accounts have any fraud alerts. I gave both institutions this phone number (they can check that) and they said that it is not a number that either contracts their fraud alerts through.
- Not So StupidMy wife has gotten two calls of this nature this week, both claiming suspicious activity on my card...and both were fraudulent in nature. Always call the number on your card first...in my case, they verified that there was no activity on my card, proving this to be a scam.
- Garyi got a call from this number. Suspected fraud and called back. They read off recent transactions and found 1 that I wasn't sure of for a $3 bill to the U. K.
I'm going to my bank to confirm this call. - MTHarpoonerThis is a legit fraud alert call. I used my debit card on vacation and then when I got home and it alerted on a few sketchy transactions. Enter zip code and confirmed the three questioned transactions and everything was jake.
- Vet SupporterThis IS A legit company, It is a fraud detection agency. There was unauthorized activity on my debit card and the agency caught it.
I received a call from this number on a Saturday before the banks opened. I'm leary of such calls so I tried to check it online - I ended up here. There was a case number but I didn't have anything to write it down on. When the bank opened I called them and with it being a phone call the bank told me of a charge but couldn't tell me who it was so I wasn't sure if it was a charge I'd made or not. Thankfully the company called back and we got it settled. That number was from 800-279-2674.- Caller: Fraud detection agency

- NaviMendVoice mail on the business line: It was an automated message that began before the machine started recording so I did not know who had called or what it was about but the message gave me a case number and the 877 number to call. I called, no company identification when the call was answered. I said I'm returning a call, I don't know what it is about, but I have a case number. She said something about web purchases - there was a bit of a language barrier. I asked that company had I called and she said entertainment services of some sort. I said so if your company didn't call my company for business purposes, I don't need to talk to you and she said, "right".

- PhilThis is actually a legit call. I called my bank instead of the number left on my voicemail, was a real call and a real number. It was suspect activity on my debit card.
- JessI called my bank and they gave me the fraud protection number. Called and they said that it was not them and that my card and account was fine. When I gave them the number that called me they said it was absolutely not them.

- EACThis number calls my cell and hangs up after two rings. I called back from my house phone and wasn't able to get the person/company to identify itself.
- MarissaIgnored the call, but knew it had to be fake by the voicemail. I'm 15, I have no credit/debit card, and the phone number is not registered to any card.
- Caller: Fake?
