- Doug| 1 replyI also got a call from this number saying it was the fraud department of Bank of America. Base on a post from "k" it seems to be an old phone number for the bank and isn't being used any longer. Do NOT give any personal information to this number. It is likely a phishing scam. BEWARE!!!
- Jon replies to DougGot a call from this number. Provided last 4 of card. They asked for nothing else. They said suspicious activity on card. I logged into account while talking and saw suspect activity and confirmed fraudulent to them. They said they would deactivate card and send a new one. Then I googled this number and got here. So called regular BOA number and had them transfer me to fraud dept. I ended up speaking with the same person that called me. So...who the hell knows. Be careful.
- RGot an e-mail about suspicious activity on my debit card and to call that number (1.877.833.5617) to verify my account etc, etc. Being suspicious, I logged into my account to review and the contact number on the BoA secured site is the same one-- calm down people, not everyone is trying to scam you
- No One(877) 833-5617 was the number which the Agent on Live Chat gave me. It is a legit Bank of America Number TO CALL INTO but if you receive a call FROM IT, the odds are high that it was SPOOFED.
This is the Bank of America Risk/Fraud Department but only if you are calling INTO IT... If they call you, treat it as SPAM, hang up, and call the number on the back of your card to confirm if you are having account issues.- Caller: Bank of America
- SteveSCAM Bank of America number!!! Do not call them and give them any information
- Caller: Bank of America
- PThe number is legit. Just hung up from talking to BoA representative.

- jessicaIf this was not a valid number before for Bank of America, it is now. I called the number on the back of my card and they verified that both that number and the email they sent were real
- Caller: Bank of America
- Lime TabascoThis number is apparently legitimate, they were able to correctly identify a purchase I'd made on Yahoo about 5 minutes after I actually did it. The corresponding email with this phone number was listed as an alert on my actual online Banking account for BoA
- Caller: Bank Of America
- JenLEGIT!! I got an email saying it was from BOFA, they detected fraud on my account and call them at this number. I went straight to their website and called the number that they had listed there instead of the one in the email. They had shut off my card already due to this activity. Had I assumed it was a scam and not called (the number listed on the website) I would be have been very embarrassed later while trying to purchase a large amount of groceries.
If you get an email from ANYONE you have an account with and want to be safe call the number on the website or back of the card. If it's a scam you have warded them off, if it's not you may find yourself up a creek with no ATM / credit card.- Caller: BofA
- DeanThis is legit! I received the email, went online and looked at my alert history and there in plain site was the exact wording of the email including the phone number.
- Caller: Bank of America
- HalieI got a text from BofA saying that there was suspicious activiy in my account. I then checked my email and there was an email from bofa that said the same thing. I called the number they provided. They didnt ask for my social or anything but it turns out that there was some charges on my card that I didnt make. I then claimed fraud and called thier claims department and got refunded. I was feeling suspicious about the situation after the phone call and everything so I went into my actual bofa account and looked under "alerts" and the same message was there. SO it is legit but it does seem really scetch.
- staceyGot a email from BoFA this morn regarding "irregular activity" of my account. I called the number listed (877-833-5617 ) and i imput my credit card number and a lady answered. Asked me my name an employer, sounded odd so I asked "is this really BoFA?"
She replied "call the number on the back of your card"
So I did which is a 1-800 number. got in touch with the fraud dept and they told me that it was a legit BoA number, also they could see the note she made of where she told me to call the number on the back of the card.
this is a legit number; however, When in doubt ALWAYS just call the number on the back or look it up on the legit BOfA site... never hurts to take that one extra step.
what alerted mine was, I was in another state for a bit, I connected it to my AmEx prepaid swerve online and I had a change of address. - KarenGot this from "irregular card activity" from B of A, I called the number and they wanted all of my card information to verify. I didn't feel comfortable, especially since they should have that info and need a better way to identify. B of A DID have irregular activity on my card, I called them directly and verified the activity as well as forwarded the suspicious email to their fraud department.
The guy told me since I wasn't comfortable giving info over the phone, to go into any location to verify the irregular activity. I'm not entirely sure it wasn't legit, but I'm not comfortable with the way they wanted me to do it. - Michele LevyGot a call from this number stating unusual baklnk activity was reported

- SMARTI just received a call from 315-724-4022. The number 315-724-4022 is the phone number on bank of america's website for their international fraud department BUT when you answer the call it states that their is fraudulent activity on your bank of america atm/debit card. The automated message states for you to call another number of 877-833-5617 WHICH IS NOT BANK OF AMERICA'S NUMBER. THIS IS A FRAUD. I called Bank of America to confirm and they stated that the number given is not theirs. The scam is when you call the fraudulent 877-833-5617 and enter all of your information from your atm/debit card, social security number, expiration date and the code on the back. It is then collected by the scammer and used else where with all of your correct information that you just provided by touch dialing it in to the key pad. DO NOT FALL FOR THIS! THIS IS A SCAM!

- danIn my experience the # IS associated with B of A. It is annoying that on a number of occasions my ATM/Debit card has been
frozen due to "suspicious" activity - especially when I drove 50 miles to pick up much needed work supplies and when they consider "suspicious" as being a large purchase from a store I have been doing business with for over 8 years. But...I digress. I went into the bank branch to complain and have them lift the fraud freezing thingy for a couple weeks as I was going to be driving cross country and did not want to have my card declined as I am trying to gas up my car in bu**f*uck Wyoming. That 877 number is the number the branch manager gave me to call if there were any more problems - danoops I should clarify my above comment as I now see there are many phone #'s discussed here..
877-833-5617 is the number I am referring to. I went online here because I found this# on a post it in my wallet. after reading this forum I remembered it was from my visit to the branch office where the manager used green pen on a blue post it - JeTelling me about calling for foreign trqvel

- ZeusKittyThis number, 877-833-5617, is totally and completely legit.
I have text alerts connected to my BofA account.
I was attempting to make a purchase at one of my favorite local establishments, using my debit card, when they had a minor equipment error. They tried to run my card again, and my card was declined. At that point, they started the entire transaction over. Once again, my card was declined. Just as I was checking my balance through my on-line banking, I received a text alert, directly from BofA, stating that there was irregular activity on my card. The message directed me to call this number, 877-833-5617. I did, and the issue was handled within minutes.
This all occurred within a closed loop between my merchant, BofA, and myself...
I know, long story, but the number is legit.- Caller: Bank of America
