I received a call on my cell phone telling me that someone was calling me collect from a Ventura County Jail facility, that the call would be recorded, etc. if I accepted, I pressed the button that it told me to reject the call.. Hmmm... Makes me wonder... Hmmm... I for one didn't know my cell could accept collect calls... Also, there's only one person I know of that may be in jail, but I'm prolly the last person this person that this person would want to talk to,as I filed for custody of this individual's children. I dunno.. seems weird that so many people are getting calls from the same number... Hmmm... Wondering if this is really a Ventura County Jail number, a hoax or ???

I received a call from this number that said it was a call from an inmate from Ventura County Jail.

My father is in Jail in VA in Hanover County Regional Jail (Pamunkey Jail).
He is being held on Immigration Charges Which as many don't know are Federal Felonies! ANSWER THE PHONE AND SEE WHO MAY BE CALLING IT MAY BE SOMEONE YOU KNOW!

IF IS IS IN SPANISH JUST ANSWER AND SAY:
1.¿Tienes el número equivocado (You got the wrong number by mistake)

2.Yo no te conozco y  no hablo español! (i don't know you and i don't speak spanish)

3.Aquí nadie con ese nombre lo siento tienes el número equivocado! Buena suerte en tu búsqueda!(No one by that name is at this number sorry wrong number,Good Luck on your search)

It's so annoying, supposedly from an "inmate" it the Lincoln correctional center named "Jessey Wilcox" only thing is, that name is not in they listings or database.

This is crap! I was driving home from work when I got this voicemail saying I have a collect call from someone in vista detention facility.. They mumbled their name and it sounded a lot like my boyfriends name.. He wasn't answering his cell...I was freaked out. And I get home and he is sleeping w his phone next to him! This is the worst scam phone call ever! Lol

We want the call to stop now. We dont know anyone in jail and if we did they can stay there.

This is the main number from a large company called PCS. They sell their services to prisons across the country. If someone keeps calling you, contact the facility they are calling from. It will tell you "You have a collect call from "John Doe" at "Yadda Yadda Correctional Center," if you wish to accept and pay for this call, dial 5 now..." and so on. Call the institution, tell them your number, and they will find out who it is that has been calling you. You press 7 to ignore calls and the person calling will not be able to call you anymore. Other people from the institution can though.

It's 9 times out of 10 someone from a detention center/jail calling you.

I too was getting ten calls a day from this #, so i called PCS and the customer service rep told me to just dial a 7 or 9 when i answer and it will block my phone number. Anyways just passing the word on. Good Luck All!

I received three calls in the middle of the night from this number: 4:27, 4:31, 4:33.  Luckily I didn't hear the phone or I would have been upset.  I just thought it was strange, and now that I see this happens regularly, I want to know what it is about!!!

one phone number for the whole entire jail system? what if it was someone that you knew that needed help, not just some idiot dialing the wrong number? there should be a way to narrow it down to exactly which facility it is coming from and a way for the caller to announce their name on the 15 sec voicemail that ended up being blank on my answering machine. looks like the only one getting anything out of this tool that should be to help someone get out if they need to is the PCS company. like the others said - what a waste.

Called my cell phone number and I am on the DO NOT CALL list.  I have received at least 3 other calls from these people a few month ago. Some at 3:00 a.m.! I don't know how to stop the calls.  Can someone help?

This is a phone call from an inmate at a local jail/prison.

The thing is if you accept the call it is expensive!  They ran my debit through to authorize it (the caller in the situation is my boyfriend) 53.00 (fyi) and it was denied...however they still took the money out of my bank account?  I have been on the phone with my bank all morning trying to get this straightned out and refunded but my bank had a hold on my mail which caused the decline in service.

They are just a collect call service provider but their rates per minute seems cheaper in the long run than the other ones he has called me off of.

I was helping a Spanish speaking women(her husband is in jail) and she asked me to call 1-888-288-9879. She doesn't have a bank account and said she would give me the money if I called this number and gave them my bank information so her husband could call her cell phone. She told me it was to put minutes on her Cricket cell phone number. She said this 1-888 # is a phone number for the company Cricket. So either she is totally clueless or her husband told her something else.

I don't know the women very well, so I will not be using my bank information at all, but I said I would call the number and see what they needed in order to put minutes on her phone. Well I have never heard of such a thing, so checked out this number and found this site. Also found this website that explains more:

Now I understand how it works, but I will not be using my information to buy her time for her husband to call her. Knowing how debt stuff works....I could see them renewing their time using my bank account and I do not have time or money for that.

I received a call from this number.  Asked if I would accept a collect call, I said yes and was deconnected.
