I received a call from this number.  Asked if I would accept a collect call, I said yes and was disconnected.

call came in to my "cell" phone which is a number I do not give out readily.  I received 2 calls within 5 min of each other and no voice message was left.
I don't know anyone in jail either so I will continue to ignore.

i need to know that jail mane, so i can load minute to my home phome

i get theses callz in between 6-9 and i do know some one in prison but the thing is i have blocked these callz and they keep calling so i dont k now what else to do

Ignored a call from this number and received a voicemail saying press 7 to accept or hang up to ignore collect call.  Definitely no one I know is in jail.
How do you stop this?  I never answer the phone on calls like this, so "stay on the line and hit 7 " doesn't work for me.
Is this number even real? I never answer numbers that I do not know.. This is bull sht.

i got two calls one right after the other, today at around 6pm. i didnt answer because i thought it was a credit company or something like that. when the number came up, i knew ive seen that number before but didnt know why or where. i didnt answer either of the calls because it was a 888 #. i now think my friend who was/is in prison used it to talk to me months ago, but im not entirely sure. im still wondering what the deal is with it and if they call back, whether or not i should answer it.

Yes it is a number from a Jail. My son is in Jail in Ventura, CA. This number is their Internet Phone system.  It generates the call from the inmate and send it to your phone via the internet. it is a prepaid plan so in order for you to accept the collect call you need a prepaid account set up.  When you can do when you try to accept the call.  Hopefully you know the inmate calling you.  Sometimes someone just gets your number, you take the call set up the account to see who is calling you and you end up not knowing them.  However you can cancel the prepaid account at anytime and get your money back.  I wont do the account, my son needs to learn how to use a pencil and paper and dicover the US Mail system.

Keep getting calls and can't understand who is in jail or the name of the facility.  I am a supervisor of many employees and who knows it could be one of them.  If it's not and its a scam - than I don't need the stress.  How can we tell if it is a scam or if someone really needs help

I just got a cal from this number a few minutes ago, i live in northern Arizona ... at first it was speaking what i believe to be native American, then it said the name of the county correctional facility. i hung up right then and there im waiting to see if it happens again WTF is this !? an no i don't know anyone in jail or prison to my knowledge

I have been recieving this call for the past week. One of our attorney's is waiting for the call from a client, but i advised him that no one is on the line its just dead air, he still thinks i should give him the call! Oh my goodness, College Graduate! Book smarts but no common sense!!!!

i got a call from this number at 7:42pm not knowing the number i did not answer so i googled it found it was for inmates not knowing if a family member got busted i called it and it just wanted me to set up an account how do i find out who called me

I just bought a phone from a man on craigslist and there were MANY missed calls from a guy who was called "Alex" in the phone and his number was 888-288-9879... I'm feeling like this could be a stolen phone or something. Does anybody know anything about this?

Got a call and it was one of my renters that was in the Vista Jail Near San Diego..I did not pick it up and went to voice mail saying it was a collect call from vista Jail and it did say his name.....
