Got a call from the number, but no message.  Called the number back from a different/unlisted number, and an automated menu for "PCS" answered.  I have no clue what "PCS" is.

I received a telephone call from 888 288 9879 Sunday, May 1, 2010...I was asked to punch 0 key to talk...there was to be no charge to my telephone....I asked the man if there would be a charge and he stated it was debit call he was using...his name was said to be George Silva or Silver...he was asking for information regarding a relative who is incarcerated and wanted to know if this relative of mine had been released....I told him no....he said they 'needed to finalize their plans' for whatever that means!  I have been unsuccessful in obtaining information regarding any such person.

This isn't exactly a jail. They tell you where the call is from and who is calling you. The operator prompts you in the beginning with all the information. I got calls from Willacy Detention Center in Texas from someone I knew. So your best bet is to pick up.

I got this call yesterday, but unlike other people here reporting, the prerecorded message I recieved when answering the phone only said " To accept, press 1, to reject, press 2 and hang up" Afraid it was a collect call, I pressed 2, but the same message repeated. I called the number up and now it was saying it was PCS telling me MY # and asked if I wanted to check my account balance. By then I was really wondering, so I called the phone company repair #. They didn't even have this much info as I have read about here.

Called twice and left two automated voice mails saying they were calling collect from the Franklin County Jail; calls came back to back in late afternoon, week day.

In my case, altho I've had the phone number for a year, I get a lot of calls for the person who owned the number previously, and he was - based on the voice mails that are often left - a very obviously less than law-abiding citizen, so it's quite possible the calls were legit from someone looking for a buddy to bail him out.

In any event, thank you for this website!  I didn't answer them -- the number they called is a prepaid cell phone and it would cost me actual cash money to answer the calls.  If anyone I know lands in jail, they can rot there!

Inmate telephone service is provided through Public Communications Services, Inc. (PCS). To help the inmates stay connected with the outside world, PCS provides the following multiple calling options.

Collect Calls - Inmate places a collect call which is accepted and paid for by the receiving party (e.g. the friends and family) Note: Inmate cannot place Collect Calls to Cell Phones, Business Phones or numbers that are blocked from receiving collect calls.

Prepaid Calls - (Daily Dial)- Prepaid call accounts are set up by an end user (e.g. the inmate's family/friends.) to eliminate the problem of blocked collect calls. Inmates can place prepaid calls to cell phones, office phones, hospitals and other commercial phone numbers that normally do not accept collect calls. When an inmate calls the end user, the call charges are deducted from the called party's prepaid account.

To receive prepaid calls, Inmate Family/Friends and others can easily and quickly set up Prepaid Call Account by one of these methods

    a) Calling PCS at 1-888-288-9879
    b) E-mailing PCS at customerservice@pcsdailydial.com
    c) Visiting PCS' Website at www.pcsdailydial.com for more information.

Debit Calls - Inmate prepays for debit phone time and places a call to their friends and family. Inmates can buy debit phone time through the Commissary in $10.00 and $20.00 increments. Debit calls can be placed to cell phones, business phones and international numbers.

Blocking / Unblocking Numbers: PCS' inmate telephone service allow you to block your number so that inmates at the San Diego County Sheriff's Detention Facilities cannot call your number. You may also unblock your phone number.

For other Customer Service Issues regarding Inmate Telephone Services, please contact PCS at 1(888) 288-9879.
