Stephen Walters law office is in Mississauge and the collection co. in Hamilton is part of his business.  This collection co is using illegal tactics to collect on behalf of premier and Stephen Walters should be reported to the law society

Hi I'm so glad this forum was created.  Received the same message as above re: claim.  I can't wait to get out of work I am going to call and [***] her out so badly.  The only gym I ever belonged to was years ago and Premier Fitness was never in Canada.  

I'm going to advise her that I know her location and I'm calling the cops to pay her a visit.

Been hearing from her for the past week. Thing is I never belonged to a gym but then again I've had collection agencies after me for years. Still haven't paid any of them yet. I figured this was either a scam or a poorly trained collection agent (yes I did this kinds job for about 4 weeks. Couldn't stomach it any longer). She gave me a deadline for Friday @ 5pm then gave me the same deadline for the following Monday.

Guess I'll carry on with ignoring her calls and deleting her voicemail!

Michelle Smit has called our house three times, using my husbands and my names- which are not the same. Each message has become increasingly threatening.

I have no outstanding bills of any sort that would involve any type of action therefore I wasn't particularly worried. When I return her calls I go straight to a voicemail. My messages have become increasingly firm as well. She seems to favour MOndays as all my messages have arrived about the same time on MOndays. Mine to her today was explicit and firm- produce a client and detailed information or cease your calls. I went on to let her know that collection companies have guidelines they are required to follow and she is breaking several of them with her behaviour.

I called my phone company looking for assistance in tracking down the main office number as I was intent on getting her fired for her abysmal approach. They helped me find this website.

She is obviously working from some type of list as there is no other way she would have both our names. I encourage anyone getting her messages to be firm, record her messages and if possible her calls and call the police if she does not cease after a reasonable effort on your part.

Even if you have an outstanding bill, small or large, there are LAWS regarding the collection of those bills to protect the dignity and credit of honest people in difficult situations. Stand up for yourself!

Since my comment on the 14th I have resolved the issue.

I received another message and when I returned the call I spoke with her directly. I requested the information on the client she represents and her main office number as I had no faith in her honesty. She encouraged me to check out her company's veracity on the Upper Canada Law website. When I did, the number she gave me did not match the numbers on the website. And,as it turns out, the client she was representing had no claim. Although two cheques had been returned NSF I had called the company before the bank did to take care of it via credit card and had my proof.

I refused to share any information with her over the phone. My last message to her was to inform her that I had proof of payment and any further communication was to be written. As she was supposed to have my file she would already have my address so I would await her notice.

I then contacted the company in question both their accounts receivable and head office. I detailed the matter via email and received a return email assuring me they would call off these collection gorillas.

I also contacted the Upper Canada Law Society to lodge a complaint; the BBB of Ontario; the Consumer Protection 'agency'; and left a message on another forum.

A part of me really hopes she calls again today as I would love the chance to take it one step further. Michelle Smit is a nasty piece of work and the company she represents have the ethics of a terrorist.

claudia called my parents house a few days ago leaving a message saying I was supposed to call her on wednesday and that it was very important for me to get a hold of her.  I didn't know anyone named Claudia so I called back on Sunday morning hoping to get voice mail. Needless to say these people should be sued.

Just received a call from here "claiming" TO BE FROM S. WALTERS LAW FIRM. SOMEONE/ALL of us should contact the BBB or the police or somebody about her!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So far just 1 call at work.  I did some searching and found this website.  My membership was cancelled over 2 years ago and I had some rude guy named Danny call from Premier to say I owed $600 and threatened to send me to collection.  I am glad I looked before calling, which I will not be doing.

so i just got a call at work from Michelle Smit of "Steven Walters Law Firm" also.  same old bs, says i owe money to Premier, threatened legal action and to ruin my credit rating, blah blah blah.  

for those of you who have experienced something like this, please visit the ctv.ca forum (google search "premier fitness ctv" and it should be the first link. there is some good information there from a poster named "seekingjustice" to help all of us who are potentially being scammed by these [***].

I just received a call from Michelle saying she was from Stephen Walters Law Office. She left a message on my answering machine.I can't talk do to an operation on my throat. I have not found any law office called that. The only thing I did find is a number of people getting similar calls.

Again, I suggest we all quit wasting our time on here and call your local MLA,City Councillor and newspaper and expose her and M. Walters to the b.s. they are involved with. We might also want ALL send e-mails to Premiere and express our frustrations at this B.S.

Just got yet another call from this "Michelle".  I am always at work and never around to answer her calls luckily.  Glad I found this site too.  Question though, I have never had any dealings with any of the companies mentioned so far here, and I live a fair distance from where she is calling from.  What other "clients" are they known to "represent", and one know ?

Has this stephen walters co every followed through with their threats.  I have received a very nasty letter.
