- Adrian Smith| 1 replyThe caller tried several times. At first we assumed it would be a nuiscance call so ignored it. Then it occured to us that it could have been relatives trying to contact us in the U.S. so i answered only for there to be nothing on the other end, no noise and no hang-up like other nuiscance (computer dialled) calls. The number has now phoned us up every day since around 4 times a day (last 5 days).

These where calling on behalf of Severn Trent Water, but perhaps you have a different water board...

- spacegirl| 1 replyThank god I googled this number and found this page. I too thought it was an american number, it's been calling me around midday everyday last week. I was coming home from work 1471 on the phone and panicing that someone was desperate to get hold of me and I couldn't phone them back. I signed up to TPS who are supposed to stop these type of calls, aren't they??
- Dongot the call at about 4pm today (14/02/08) when answered no one there, thought it was a USA/ Canada number. Not listed in my personal address book, so tried google, if it does originate at a company linked to severn trent, do what im doing ....................... complain to severn trent.
- ClaudiaThis number has been calling me up to 6 times a day every day (including weekends) for many months - too many to remember(4 times in the last 5 hours). I work nights and this is playing havoc with my sleep - due to long hours I get little sleep at the best of times but this is just getting ridiculous... I have to leave the phone plugged in to the wall as there is no mobile signal in my area and I often receive important work related calls during the day. I am nowhere near Severn Trent's service area...considering paying £3.35 per month for BT's 'choose to refuse' service...
- ClaudiaRe. above - just tried calling this number whilst witholding mine and got the following message - 'You were called today by Homeserve. We will try again later' - not if I've got anything to do with it they won't... NB I am registered with the Telephone Prefernce Service and I NEVER agree to to have my details passed on by any company that I deal with. Will be looking into complaining to BT, OFCOM, Telephone Preference Service, Office of the Information Commissioner, possibly my water board if relevant etc etc.
- Claudia| 1 replyRe. above - e-mail sent to webteam@homeserve.com. Interestingly they do not post any information advising how to make a formal complaint of this nature to them on their website. Complaint also registered with BT, if I receive any more calls then I shall be lodging a formal complaint with the Information Commissioner. Let's see what happens... Anybody had success dealing with this yet?

- Roger CrockerReceived a call from this number. Ours is a personal preference line and so the caller is acting outside the code of conduct even if it is Homeserve.
- BobThe phone rang at about 19:30 and I answered, after a long delay someone asked to speak to me, I realised it was a nuisance call and immediately hung up without acknowledging the caller

- RosieThis number has been on my 1471 every day for a week. I don't know how many times I've been called, I'm just glad I haven't been here to answer! I got curious when no message was left on my answer service and found this page - invaluable! I do have a policy with Homeserve but not for much longer if this carries on! My phone doesn't show caller ID so I will consider getting one that does, but why should I be out of pocket? I am already ex-directory so would have thought that should be enough.

- Malcom Robinson| 1 replyAfter various unsolicited nuisance calls i have decided to email "Homeserve" with the following message;Dear Homeserve
Very recently we have been receiving unsolicited and unwanted cold call sales enquiries from your organisation, as have many others it seems from my very quick survey of your number on an internet search engine. There are two options that you can take. The first is to stop these unwanted nuisance calls and so resolve the issue immediately. The other option is to continue calling our ex directory private number in which case we will have no other choice but to pursue legal action against your business. This will include amongst other actions contacting BBC Watchdog as well as the local Chamber of Commerce in Wallsall. I do understand that you have your sales targets to meet; i also have the right to privacy. Please read this email carefully and make notes of its content as failure to do so may well result in litigation.
