Now a weekly event, always at an inconvenient time. How many times do I have to say I don't want this cover from Homeserve? I have now entered this number into my BT "chose to refuse " list.

    Hi folks,

I'd been getting the phone calls for two weeks straight. They'd ring, it'd go to answer phone but they wouldn't leave a message. Was starting to bug me. So I found this thread, sent an email to customerrelations@homeserve.com basically saying if it came down to a choice between having an undisturbed evening or moving my policy it wasn't a choice.

I sent the email on the 5th August. This morning I received a letter dated 6th August apologising, saying they've removed me from their telesales lists and the calls will stop within four weeks. And I've not had one since.

So fair play to their customer service bods. Oh and I also included a link to this page in my email to show I'm not the only one who isn't amused by their telesales policy.

Surely if the nuisance caller is known, BT can do something about it.
Thanks to Google, we can find out who is calling.

I have had the same problems, i rang them up on 0800 7830951, had my rant and moan at the guy who said he couldn't give me the details due to data protection. I spoke to a supervisor and made a formal complaint, number should be off their system now apparently!!

Having been away for a day, found 3 calls listed on call minder to this number - no message left. This site is a great way to check if its likely to be a hoax/nuisance or if it's necessary to phone the number back. I always think that if it's urgent or important they would leave a message and why waste time wondering who it is - but curiosity draws you in and you end up looking up the number on the web and finding sites like this and I'm now happy that I don't need to be bothered about this number and to ignore the calls.
    Thanks!

19th August 2008 at 12.46 two rings on the phone....then stopped.......rang 1471, got this number. Wondered about the dialing code after scanning thro' my phone book. Had a bright idea..GOOGLE IT! Just put in the STD; got Walsall. Thought "In for a penny in for a pound" ...put the whole number in and dadoing! Here you all are, having the same grief (and some of you coughing up good money to prevent it too)! Does Watchdog know about this? Thank goodness for this site. I wonder if Claudia had any success ?

Have had calls from this number 3 days in a row. Managed to catch the call today. The lady who was on the line said she called from Homeserve, with whom we have a policy through South West Water.
Seemingly they are trying to sell us more policies. Said sorry to interrupt ,but not at all interested.
They leave no messages on our BT Callminder, but the number is recorded and revealed.

I wasn't in. I shall try to find out where they got the number and how they bypassed the TPS agreement. I will post again if there is any news.

i know someone who works at homeserve, my friend works in the call centre at walsall. homeserve is a legitimate insurance company, with automated dialer system, if you have policies with them you would have given your number to them when you had registerd or set up a policy. this is why, like any other sales companies, they will try to sell you secondary policies. so i wouldnt worry as it is not a fraudulent company. what i suggest is when you are called, answer the phone and listen to what they have to say, because if you put the phone down, then the dialer would see it as a unsuccessful call, and would call out to you again and again untill you have been contacted.

Just missed a call from whoever this is (Homeserve or some scam artist) and found this page after 'googling' the number.  I always try to track down unknown numbers rather than calling them back.  Thanks to this site and this page I now know to ignore this call!  Thanks.

I'm getting fed up with calls from this number, I get them weekly - and I'm on the telephone preference service. Surely there must be something that can be done about them.

Been ringing us a few time recently, I answered today, and the guy said he was ringing on behalf of Anglian Water, called himself Home Call or something like that.

As several of the other complaints getting these calls several times a day, I now have turned the answerphone off they let it ring about 6 times and cut off.  If you do pick up there is nobody at the other end.  Total Timewasters.  Even though registered with the TPS these calls still get through HOW??  What good is the TPS

I am not going to tell any of you that you are wrong and we are right but i would like to point you all in the direction of the posts by Simon and Anon. They are absolutely right in what they say. If you email us then your dtails will be removed. And do not save the number in your phone to avoid. You will rarely be called back by the same agent and each agent has  a different extension so you will never avoid all the numbers. Get in touch by either phone post or email, let us know you are not happy with receiving the calls and your details will be taken off the diallers.

Sorry forgot to mention what Von said. You details will be gained fromthe water boards who pass them on or either from a company called experian. You have probably all seen them on the net offering free credit reports. If you really really dont want your details passed on then speak to either of those companies also and not just Homeserve
