received a msg from an unknown no. requiring me to contact one Lucy Palmer of C.A.R.S on 01256 306797. i did called but Lucy was never there. After insisting, the man on the phone said she is on leave for 2 weeks...

i doubt that this lady exist.

Be careful - sometimes these numbers charge you hundreds to call, hence the scam.

I had a text message today as follows:-

Could Mrs S Farrell please contact LucyPalmer URGENTLY on 01256306797 quoting ref no. ******* and it said this was from C.A.R.S.

I tried to call this number and got an answerphone so hung up.  Judging by all the other comments I have read I think it best to ignore this message.

I just had a phone call from Lucy Palmer .

I propose starting a list of all their known numbers. I already have 3 saved in my phone listed under 'dont answer'. The drawback there is I have to answer a number I don't recognise to be able to add it to the list. Maybe if they're listed here it would stop us all having to do that.
I have zero debt with any company, but they continually say I owe money for a caravan I've never bought. When they call they ask for my name and home address, and now they get told the same answer with every call.... hold your breath waiting for me to give a random stranger on the phone my home address details. Maybe they want bank account details and the password to my emails too?

Despite discontinuing my membership and returning the gym card I was charged for another 2 months. So had no choice but to go to my bank and cancel the direct debit. Now I had letters at my old address requesting money. Called fitness first and explained the situation but they said they didn't receive the cancellation form. Fair enough, I will send you another letter to say that I have cancelled and you can check my card has been inactive for a long time (dnt even have a card). Now I am getting these texts from CARS asking me to call them urgently. Well if you think it is that urgent y dnt u call. Anyways I called to see who it was n a stupid chavy sounding woman replied with no communication skills at all. Just to annoy her I said oh I thought u were the company who are returning the extra month membership fee FF owes me but now since you are asking for money I am hanging up boooooppppppppppp.

I got a text from C.A.R.S. tellin me to call Lucy Palmer as a matter of URGENCY on 01256306797 quoting Ref No 3698643.

3 days later i get another text from C.A.R.S. tellin me to call Robert Parker regarding the same thing and using the same numbers.

Wow it's a relief that I'm not the only one, I was gettin worried. So it's definately a scam, thank God.

Everyone else out there who's gotten a text from C.A.R.S. beware: they're apparently a scam and they'll use the guises: David Shaw, Lucy Palmer, or Robert Parker

Yes, Lucy Palmer text message with ref number and to call 01256 306797 which is a Basingstoke area code.  I suspect this is a debt collector as I terminated my Nuffield Health gym membership as going there once a month for £52 a month was costing me just a little bit too much.  I have one months notice but seems I just missed 'their' cut-off date for terminations.  I shall not be calling Lucy Palmer !!

This isn't just LoveFilm, I used to work for this company and it is a debt recovery agency, However the managers there are nothing more than a bunch of children, They wont leave you alone and they also wont take you to court!! Just say it's the wrong number over and over and eventually they will give up, Trust me!!

Thanks Patrick!! This is exactly the information I was looking for! That's what I assumed it was, since I am in a similar situation with Fitness First. But they don't have my new address and I've since then changed gyms and they are just rubbish so they can sodd off. Thanks again for sharing this info to you and everyone so now I needn't waste my time worry about who it may be.

I just received a short ring before I could even answer only to then hear a very 'sharp' message from 'Lucy Palmer' calling from CARS (I think, as she spoke so quickly) asking to call her urgently before further action is taken. I duly called back and the same curt woman answered the phone and before even asking why I had been called apparrently I owed money to 'Love Film' which I cancelled membership for about 6 months ago and why I had not returned any communication from the letters they had sent? No letters nor previous calls had been received either by themselves or LoveFilm. Called up LoveFilm only for a more polite answer stating 'Sorry, we must not have received the films back in the post, we'll take you off our list', I thanked the gentleman and the issue is now resolved. Who can be contacted about such companies as Im sure they cannot conduct their business in such ways. Im absolutely fuming!!

I received a text this afternoon from CARS asking to a call Lucy Palmer urgently on 01256 306797 with the reference number. Thanks everyone for posting on here. Thank god I haven't called them. Where do they get our numbers? My mobile number is brand new, only got the contract 2 days ago?!?

Anyhow, they won't get a call from me, if they call me they will get told where to go.
