i got the same message from davd shaw this morning. i also have an a/c with fitness first that i have cancelled. i think the last payment might be in dispute as they kept not cancellign it when i kept asking them to. i hate their cancelling policy.

does anyone know if fitness first take it any further if you dont reply?
and does anyone know how i would prove i cancelled. i just sent a fax. but i didnt keep a copy :(

Ive just a tx too, reference my fitness first account. I owed 2outstanding payments but i explained to the (not so understanding and rude) lady on reception that i had moved very far from the area and could no longer attend. She then proceeded to say "well we'll send the debt collectors round then". Unlike previous gyms where they have been fine with this situation - fitness first are being complete [***].
I havnt told them my new address and i havnt had any mail forwarded onto this present address.
Where do i stand If they dont have my address? Can i get away with ignoring this?
I am writing to their head department (fitness first) as i was sexually harrassed by one of their personal instructors and that was one of the main reasons i didnt just travel the long distnace for the last two months.
I never made an official complaint but its totally unacceptable.
WHAT DO I DO?

just got a text from david shaw telling me to call URGENTLY but they are shut i just cant work out where they got my mobile number from its not registered anywhere and although i owe money its being paid back no outstanding debts

A google search returned a bebo profile with a message from a friend who says it's his work number. Click his profile and he says he works at a debt collecting company. No idea why I get cold calls from them though. I don't owe nobody nothing.

Got a text this morning with my name on it saying contact mr david shaw urgently on this number and with a ref number, just woundering how they got my name and mobile as i don,t normally give it out unless i know them, so will not be ringing back if it it for real they can send me a letter.

Had the same text message and a further call from a mobile number. I called back only to speak to a rude pr**k on the other end of the phone who told me to "wait for my next call" giving me no details of who or what they were. I then called the David Shaw number where I spoke to a rude b**ch who agressively asked me to confirm my address - no way i said, and she refused to tell me who she was or what it was regarding. I told her if she did not tell me I would inform the Police (what with all the scams around today). She said "thats fine" how unprofessional can you get!!

Anyway - since reading this blog I have come to realise that this has been instigated by Lovefilm with whom I only signed up for a promotional "FREE" trial SHAME ON YOU LOVEFILM. Had no idea a free trial with such a company could end up with me being harassed by a bunch of rude unprofessional cowboys!

I got the same urgent text from David Shaw-I straight away googled the number, thank God for the net. I will not be wasting my credit calling them I know it's Marks And Spencer Insurance so they can wait, i've got other more pressing debts.

yep just got the same message! i think it may be something to do with fitness 1st, are they really a debt collection agency? if so they cannot really expect to be taken seriously if they communicate via text-thats crazy! any advice anyone? what will happen if I ignore them? as i do not intend to call such a dodgy place back!

I just recieved the David Shaw text saying to call them URGENTLY and quote a reference number. i goggled to telephone number and found this page. been watching alot of "real hustle" recently so wanted to check out the number before i called it.
now that iv found this fourum i have a feelng it is to do with a dispite i have with FITNESS FIRST. Well I have spoken to thier head office and sent off a copy of my cancelation form which says my last payment was to go out in June and so I do not owe them any money, they can contact me directly by letter if they wish but i will not be calling this number back.

I too recieved the classic "dave shaw" text today. i funnily have a good friend called dave shaw so i thought it was a scam, judging by the other posts i too am being stalked!

I had a dispute with fitness first about my account because i have moved away from uni which my gym membership was with, but ah well nevermind - they can waste their time

i do believe you should all check the law before posting untrue damaging coments, i have just finished a degree in debt law, and no court has to judge if a debt is valid or not, that is un heard of, please look look up harrasment laws and court procedure you will all find out that even thou this seems dodgy its all above board, check it out if you dont believe me

Also cancelled a fitness first account and just got this message.

Got the text message aswel. I dont answer witheld calls, nor reply to dodgy text messages. If someone wants to talk to me, they can ring me instead. I wont go out of my way to call them not knowing who it is. so david shaw can scuk my dcik

A call from David Shaw with a refference number asking me to call him on 01256306796. Fools and idiots are best ignored for real, it's a waste of my time and effort but if they ever put any funny thing on my credit, i will make sure whatever company he's calling from eats his heart out

This morning i also got a text from this "Mr David Shaw" arrogant [***], requesting me to call back urgently, i did call with holding my number to enquiring what company this was, which David replied do you have a reference number, i replied "no", at which he said i suggest you call back when you do, in a not so pleasantly manner.
I can tell you something i certainly WILL NOT be calling him back,ever again if thats the response i'm gonna get, and he didn't know whom he was speaking with. I could of been the Queen for all he knew.

this site is very handy, why the hell dont they just call you. i aint wasting my credit on debt collectors

Guess wot..got a text too - urgent apparently...don't think so..urgent has many definitions and nasty collection agencies should get a dictionary.  
Got a very nasty red letter with large heading CONFIRMED RESIDENT - lol been here for over 10 years.
This one is for 'excessive interest rates' vanquis credit (aka provident) card and I do owe them money and need to reduce my monthly payments (victim of XL workforce). I've written (recorded) many many times but they completely ignore me and keep passing it on to other collectors. I'm willing to pay my debt off and do send the reduced payments but they are just brainless, useless a--holes..they ought to listen to their customers and read the letters sent instead of acting like bullies - they aint gonna get paid that way - be nice!!! lol

I just had a text from David Shaw. His mobile bill must be HUGE!!
probably something to do with my cancelled Fitness First membership.
I cancelled it a week ago!
I won't be calling him back.
