That's all very easy for you to say but some people are made to feel guilty that you are not helpful and not helping towards a National Flu Survey. Think of the older people that you are harassing who don't know about MORI or TPS and are having their peace at home disturbed. I had a call this morning and quite frankly, the Scottish woman was quite brusque with me and made me feel as though I was an unhelpful person because I told her I resented cold calling on a Sunday morning. Just because it is your job doesn't give you the right to hassle people like this.

Just called by this number, no message left.

I usually tell these nuisances that I'm very happy to answer as many surveys as they wish....andf my charges for this will be £200 per hour, or part thereof (plus VAT, of course... lol)!

If I wanted to ask myself some bloody questions about something I would just bloody well do it. I don't need some bloody Scotch person asking me questions about something. I would do it my bloody self I I bloody well wanted to but I bloody well don't!

Phone rings and when you answer no-one says anything in response to 'Hello' and then the phone goes dead.

I am going to change my answerphone message to: "We don't answer the phone because 90% are nuisance calls. Please leave your name and number if you require a reply."

Several calls at different times of the day. I'm hoping that by not answering the calls they will go away.

I used to work for Ipsos Mori.

If they have your name/number then they got it from the organisation that commissioned them to do the research, they have a variety of clients, it could be anything from the Crown Prosecution Service to your bank.

They also use random digit dialling, meaning anybody can be called.

The TPS is irrelevant, you guys should actually read what you're signing up for
    From: http://www.tpsonline.org.uk/tps/faq.html#17
"Will registering on the TPS stop market research calls?

No, market research calls are not covered in the Privacy and Electronic Communications (EC Directive) Regulations 2003 therefore companies conducting these types of calls are still allowed to call a TPS registered number. If you do not want to receive such calls, inform the caller to remove your details from their call lists."

Ipsos Mori was one of the companies that helped to set up the TPS.

If you don't answer the calls it doesn't mean they'll stop calling you, if the dialler reaches an answer machine it assumes the person isn't home and will call back in three hours or so when they may be available.

The only way to stop them calling you is to ask to be placed on their Do Not Contact database.

If they call again - ask to speak to a supervisor as u want to be added to the 'Do Not Recontact' List!

The 'TPS - Telephone Preference Service' only stops 'SALES' calls but not market research calls. Also with the TPS you need to re register every 12 months!

They should not be doing this - I have worked as a Telephone Interviewer for MORI and we were told to ask people politely ie. 'Can you spare a few mins to take part in some Market Research ?' They should not be making you feel guilty for not taking part! I would write a letter of complaint - the telephone interviewers work from the office at - 2 Links House, 15 Links Place, Leith, Edinburgh.

They won't stop calling - answer it and ask to speak to a supervisor about being added to the 'DO NOT RECONTACT' list - they are not allowed to refuse!

Its not a scam! Its genuinely market research - not selling anything! Just looking for ur views on a particular subject! I know cause I worked for them a few years back! If u want to get rid of them ask to speak to the supervisor as u want to be added to the DO NOT RECONTACT list.

They don't get ur number from anywhere - they use 'Random Digit Dialing' which creates all possible combinations of telephone numbers and the ones that are actual numbers they then call!!! IPSOS MORI is a legitimate market research company (regardless of all the messages on this site - these are written by people who don't have a clue what they are talking about!) and at the end of the survey (if u take part) u are asked for ur name and u can refuse to give it but still take part in the survey!

I LOVE your replies - hopefully these people will get the message that IPSOS MORI are a genuine well known market research company. I worked as a telephone interviewer for a bit and loved my job and was really good at it - actually thinking about returning! I learnt so much and got to speak to lots of nice people!

This number called on 29/11/11 asking about pension credits and would I answer a few questions.
I just laid the phone down and carried on reading, but the caller hung on for about 5 mins. before hanging up!
My number is registered with TPS and ex-directory so where do they get your number? Do they just dial every number in turn until they get a "bite"?
Either way they are a blo--y pest!
