Just got a call from this number saying they are a government affiliated debt agency

Went along with the guy saying i have £200,000 worth of debt;and  that i owe money to the devon donkey sanctuary and the hot tub superstore for the hot tub i had installed in my one bedroom house, the guy didn't quite see the sarcasm or irony.

Anyway they are sending me out some crap in the post to my alter ego Mr Jim Morrison; whatever they send me I'm going to pass on to relevant authorities, as i assume their documentation will show their correct Uk trading name

I just got an email from my wife confirming she received a call from the same idiots so I Google the number & came to know this useful information thanks to all.

She sounds like Indian women to her. She was saying all the crap etc and trying to ask how many credit cards & savings we have, wife was clever enough and said none in reply to all the question and in the end she gave up and put the phone down....cant someone track and stop them on Govt level.

I wish I would have answer it.

My 'phone has been ringing intermittently for 2 days from this number - I also have TPS but it doesn't capture these calls.  This is one number of many that I have been bothered with - I never answer calls if I don't recognise caller I.D. - if someone wants me badly enough they can write or leave a message on my answer phone.  This type of call should be stopped - it should be illegal - there should be something more done to protect people from these nuisance calls.  I personally find it extremely stressful and disturbing.  I don't know who the company is but assume it is the same as some of your other reported details.

these people must have called about 20 times in 10 minutes. it would not stop, i would just let it ring after a while and still it kept on. someone needs to stop these guys.

Spoke to my husband a few weeks ago saying he was from government etc but when I heard he was asking for personal details I took the phone n hung up! They called back at 7pm last night and again today at 9.30am but I never answered, when I did 1471 got "number not recognised" message

I keep getting calls from this number, and on occasions of answering they have told me they are part of a "Governement Debt Scheme".  I told them I had absolutely NO debts whatsoever, so they are wasting their time and should remove our EX-DIRECTORY! number from the records........yet STILL they ring and today they have rung me 8 times continuously!  Getting fed up now & cant seem to get them to stop grrrrr!!

Whar is the solution to this as I am getting calls for the last owner who moved out 8 years ago? I feel as if I part of some Indian Saturday night TV show specialising in prank calls. Maybe its a strange National Service scheme that India puts its youth through.
I am also on TPS and ex directory and have repeatedly asked to be removed from the database.

Same call.
Told him that "Mr O'Brien was killed last night, and I'm a policeman investigating his death, and who are you?? as it seems odd that he's being phoned hours after his death" etc...
They haven't phoned back.

This number has just rung me - I recognised the number as one I have picked up on 1471 when I have missed calls in the past! He sounded indian asked if Mr Regan lived here I told him no I had the wrong number - then asked me if I owned the house and what my name is - I told him I was not the person he was looking for and that I didnt have to tell him - he then told me he was from some kind of debt recovery and if they had the wrong number for Mr Regan he needed to update his records with the correct name!!! I told him on and on that I wasnt wanting to speak to him and as I wasnt the person he originally asked for then I dont need to speak to him or give him any further information. Ended up with me hanging up on him!!!

Pronounce surname wrong. Caller difficult to understand and very ignorant. Was told to go and .............. I eventually hung up as he would not shut up.

Been called tonnes of times this week - usually do not bother to answer it - did once and got silence did another and got the Indian Guy reading from a script I just put the phone down on the side - I could hear him yammering on for a while then the line went dead - Does anybody EVER talk to these people and give them their details? I suppose some must or they would stop - I too am registered with TPS but it does not seem to matter!

Have read most of the comments regarding the 0161241080 calls, and I think I may have stopped mine. The last time i told the Asian guy to listen to me for a moment. I told him that I had a football referee's whistle ready to sound down the 'phone the next time I saw the number come up and told him that this would almost certainly burst the recipients's eardrums. Haven't had any call since.

Very strange individual, he must have a screw loose somewhere and needs help.  It is not a child its a grown man.  I would like a psychiatrist's view on him.  He is probably a lonely person living with his parents with nothing else better to do, no job maybe just bored.  I wonder who is paying his phone bills?, maybe mummy or daddy, well maybe one day mummy or daddy will find out and then he will be in BIG trouble.

Busy mopping the kitchen floor when I received a call from this number earlier today... fortunately I have caller id and chose not to answer it. I rang 1571 a few minutes later to see if a message had been left but nothing.
When I tried to call the number back (to my own expense!) it said not recognised but rang first which makes me wonder if it's a recorded message.

After looking at this forum I am glad I didn't answer but how they've got my number I'll never know... Now I'll just wait to see if they call back and report back to this forum accordingly - there must be something we can do!

Usal sales nonsence, I have paid to have my line blocked from this sort of rubbish, but it still gets through!

Same issue as most on here except I had my phone number changed 7 days ago and today I get 3 calls from them again now calling themselves crystal debt advice. Lady caller stated company based in Leicester but she was ringing from south east Asia. They are using an Internet line so I assume it's skype. I registered my new number with TPS on day I knew what it was going to be, my old number also ref with them and x directory. I don't give landline out at all, literally have it for my parents to call me on and so I can ring 08 numbers which are excluded from my inclusive minutes on mobile. Beginning to think someone at TPS is selling numbers!!!! Have registered a complaint today and am off to buy a very loud whistle.

Got a call from this number about 10 minutes ago, was surprised taht I could actually 1471 it. Given what I have read on here I am expecting more.

I find either putting THEM on hold :o) and carrying on with whatecver I am doing seems to put off this type of caller. If not at least it gives me a bit of a laugh.

every day i get call frm this number, and they always ask for someone who doenst live here, i have been at this addres for 10 years! tell them they have the wrong number but they keep calling, god how annoying
