Report a phone call from 01612412080 and help to identify who and why is calling from this number.
- DazJust taken a call from this number and was given the silent treatment. If you're reading this whoever you are just do us all a favour and F.O.A.D.
- LucieWe have just had the same thing, we've had several calls from this number usually about half six and always an indian sounding man. He asks for mister ward/wood i explained there is no one at this address and that we are they only people who have ever lived at this address so their details are wrong. We have requested they remove us from their list, we put the phone down on him today and when i reconnected to dial 1471 he was still on the line tlking away. I asked him to end the call and he just laughed at me.
- ClaireI've been having calls from this number as well over the last few days. If I pick up it is silent, and if I don't, they don't leave a message. Have also been getting calls from an Indian gentleman claiming to be from Government Debt Advice, and asking for personal details.
Have been getting calls from 0301 as well, which BT advise me are from overseas, so there is nothing that BT or British suppliers can do to stop them.
In this case, though, there is a British phone number. If you are with BT, you can get a service called Choose To Refuse, where you can specify specific phone numbers that you want to block from calling you. - A.B.Just had a missed call from them then just as i was looking up the number here they called back a man with a foreign accent told me he's fromn the Debt Advisory Service I have had countless calls from them before and told them repeatedly that I don't need their services they are really grating on me now
- Caller: Debt Advisory Service
- same here...We keep getting calls asking for a Mary Dunne (who doesn't live here) from people claiming to be the debt advice bureau. Having looked at the debt advice bureau website they are aware that they are being used as a cover for nuisance calls and have a complaints page regarding this, although how trust worthy it is god knows.
A gentleman with an Indian accent calls most of the time but today it was a lady who could barely speak english.
Again calling back it is either engaged or has a number not recognised message but given that it rings first I suspect that may just be an answerphone. - Stephen RoseThis number appears to be replacing the previous 0301 https://whocallsme.com/Phone-Number.aspx/0301 which itself was a replacement for 01163 680044, https://whocallsme.com/Phone-Number.aspx/01163680044 Apparently all VoIP numbers. The transition is the same, with the old number fading out and the new number taking over.
However, the same spiel is being used. The origin of the call appears to be the same. The trading names being claimed appear to be the same. They include: Credit Council Bureau; Debt Management Bureau; Debt Advisory Bureau; Debt Advisory Board; Debt Advice Agency; Debts Direct; Money Manager; Money Management; The Debt Managers, and; Debt Advice Bureau.
As has been established on these boards, not least by those who have received serial calls with different company names claimed at different times, it is not Debt Advice Bureau Online making any calls. When we became aware of what was going on we put a form to the site - http://www.debtadvicebureau.org.uk/ - so victims could help us try and garner some info on who may be behind the calls, on call traits, etc. We've now had several hundred forms.
It has been reported to us that if you actually bite at what they are selling, it must happen, then you are passed on to someone else ... believed to be another firm altogether.
Since most call recipients indicate they are pedaling IVAs, someone wanting to set some sort of honey trap might be able to ascertain the actual U.K. company these people are generating leads for. The IVA paperwork would certainly have to include the details of the Insolvency Practitioners paying these offshore cold callers.
Until they are stopped, call blocking by your provider or a third party device, such as TrueCall, seems the most effective solution. As the caller if you can speak to the supervisor still seems to get them to hang up.
Finally, if you're getting calls, keep a record. Report it to TPS, ICO and anyone else you can think of. Post info here. Share your experiences with us at the bureau if you want. If you can record calls, do so. - s.kearnsThe reason there is no answer is beause it calls numbers randomly to find out when calls are answered then a salesman calls back. Simple thing to do is if you recogdise this number dont answer it and after a while they get fed up and do not call again.
- Mr FJust got a call from this number yesterday, had a new telephone number installed, activated yesterday with "apparently" X-listed and TPS.. At least that's what the BT person said.. ha!
I made my first call on the new line yesterday (to the council) and seconds later i received a call from this guy (heavy indian accent) saying that he works for the government on a debt advice bureau. Wouldn't take not interested for an answer, could not understand that I have no debt and still continued to rudely talk over no matter what I said. I then gave him 2 words first starting with "F" and the next "OFF" and he finally gave up !
Where do they get my number from ? And how is it that they knew the line was active? My thoughts are that BT are sharing information or somebody from an exchange is capturing & sharing this information (either with or without BT's knowledge)!!! - FScottish sounding woman called on 30th Sept about 5pm, mentioned Debt services so I told her to [***] off as my number is registered with TPS and hung up.
Unbelievably she called back three times threatening me for using bad language, even saying that I would be visited today to be prosecuted!
I asked to speak to her boss which she refused. Number is unobtainable. - AnnoyedThey have called me a few times - at my direct line work number so I am very annoyed and confused as to how they have that number as I am very careful as to who I give this to !
- kentishmanJust had a call, Indian fella, got the name wrong, wanted "Mr McDonald" which ain't me. he then hung up!
- me67these so and so's rang 3 times in 10 mins, didn't recognise the number so i don't answer and after reading the above comments i'm glad i didn't.be smart don't answer!!!!
- ms clarkHave had numerous calls from this number, the most recent today. Indian man asking for Mrs Dunne! When told he has the wrong number starts arguing back. The more i insist he is clling the wrong number the more agitated and abusive he becomes. Finally ending with him swearing me retaliating loudly and slaming the phine down.
- Mr CGuess I was lucky then that my home phone died before I could pick up this call! At least I know from this forum not to pick up if/when it rings again.
Thanks guys! - RickJust got a call from this number and if it happens again I will be getting in touch with Gamma and if they show any signs of not being interested and stop these idiots from being a nuisance I will take them to task. I would advise anyone NOT to call back as they will probably get charged a high price for the call.

- EdThis number rang my house twice over last couple of days. When I answered an indian sounding male stared rambling on about writing off my debts. I stopped him and asked who he was he said he was from Bettabuys and asked to confirm my postcode, was I the home owner etc. I started asking who he was and how he got my number. After a long silence he hung up. I tried to dial the number back but they must have an answering message which says "you have dialled an incorrect number, please check the number and redial".
Obviously some scum trying to rip people off.- Caller: Bettabuys
- anastasia sullivanthis number keeps calling inquiring about my debt problems he says he is working for the government?!
- Caller: governement
- Mr Fedupfromfinchley. This number either hangs up because the computer power dialler has passed on the operator to somebody unfortunate enough to respond a second or two before you do. So it hangs up on your answered call. Or the operator panics and hangs up if they hear a voice that sounds as though its assertive or uncommunicative.
They claim to be a government sponsored, government initiated or even government run agency. They can do that because despite the UK landline number ID (another loophole that needs closing)they are boys and girls with a job to do calling from India, they have a script, so the 'government sponsored' [***] can not be challenged legally as they are offshore, non EU. The UK based companies running this scam are dishonest - why else cover their tracks? Close them down along with all the other, 0800 callers from ambulance chasers to unauthorised debt collectors to phoney debt consolidation vultures.- Caller: Debt Advice Bureau
- cazjust changed my number.so bl...y sick of them all.why cant anyone do anything.
- Caller: 01612412080
- DaveRDebt Advisory rang today: new number for them, asking to talk to my late wife. Last time, on the 030 number I contacted OfCom and things went quiet. Will take the same route again, but in the meantime I have marked the number appropriately on my phone :-)
