I had a call off this number, with no-one on the other end, and when I hung up the phone it stays connected so you can't use the phone for about 10 mins. It's British Gas Debt Collections automated dialer, soon as I'm not with British Gas, nor have ever been their customer is concerning.
Call the number back, and get them to remove you from their system as I have just done.

This number has phoned over 10 times, today I answered after reading the comments on this website. This is a genuine call from British Gas calling to chase a Gas Bill that has just become due. I told the caller I'd seen on a website that 0161 332 6130 was a scam and I would not be give him payment details over  the phone. He was extremely rude & told me to call British Gas payment line today, if I didn't, he informed aggressively I'd be charged £64 for overdue charges. (My recent bill was £55 which he had details of) I asked where he was calling from, he repled India!! Given the unemployment in the UK (my graduate daughter is unable to find work) instead British Gas are paying people in India who are rude, agressive & difficult to understand to chase our bills, BG could try employing my daughter who is happy & bubbly & speaks clear English, I'm sure they would have a better success rate. I will be changing providers

i have got atleast 7 phone calls in the last few hours of today, if it is british gas then i have recently left them to go with n power and have paid my final bill with them so why do they want to keep contacting me and not answer when i answer my phone?

Had a call from them this morning, they left a really nasty message demanding full payment on my overdue account.

Unfortunately for them I'm not Mrs. Roberts, And have NEVER been with British Gas. I called them back on the 0161 number and all they could say was that it was a mistake on the system and they would correct my number. 30 seconds after hanging up, they rung again.

How can a company be so incompetent?

I do hope the people talking in difficult to understand accents aren't too offended by the fact that I won't give them my credit card number over the phone.

I'm paranoid like that.

Well I guess I'm gonna be the only one to admit that I do owe them money.

I missed the call but I have a payment plan set up with BG and having just looked, it seems my standing order messed up and didn't go out. So I guess they DO sometimes make genuine calls and they're just calling to chase it.
Still, calling me at 9.30pm is a little unnecessary.

The funniest thing about this whole thread of negative comments and hatred towards British Gas is that the 'intelligent' google ads have plastered British Gas adverts all over the page. Somehow I think the npower ad that's currently accompanying it might be proving a little better value for money.

British Gas collections, ringing on a phone number i've never provided to them in any way. Looks like they're updating their contact database with numbers you call from (i've called to pay a bill once from work).

I've asked them to remove the number and call my actual home number but they refuse, this must be illegal?

Yet another call from British Gas Collections. This makes about twenty in total.

Silent call after silent call after silent call... My number is ex directory and registered with the TPS - I'm not even a British Gas customer (if thats who it is)!!! This mornings early call got me out of bed - I'm not well, so was having a rest after being awake most of the night... I am not amused as they say...

I have had 5 calls from this number in the past week. Im a student, have never been involved in sorting out a gas company, and have no idea how they got my number. I live in a student house which doesnt use british gas, and my home family home doesnt use them either! mostly its just been no-one on the end but once the man on the end did say-you owe us money!

ive now blocked them and won't be using british gas

Recived several calls from this number over the past 3 days. one time they even left a Voice mail message, Automated of course. asking me to Ring the 0845 number to handle my account.

first off im not with british Gas and never have been (im on my first supplier) and thier calling my mobile number, my new one which i only got a month ago.....

Scam methinks. now to get the number blocked.

Received a call from this number, they let my phone ring twice and hung up.  Called the number back and it says thankyou for calling British Gas Collections.  When I contacted British Gas they said it wasn't them.  Just be aware of bogus callers, trying to get money out of you via your british gas account.

i got a call frm that number last nite and when i answered the phone they said they where frm british gas and told me i was in debt wit them, i told the guy that i weren't coz i was on a prepayment meter and i pay for wot i used, i asked for his name and he wudn't tell me all he kept saying was i'll phone you bck, told him not 2 bother ringing bck.
i phoned british gas myself and my account was up 2date i was in credit with them.

Just had a call I caught after missing a few. They knew my old address and a coule of other things but nothing convincing.  After having a rant at the poor chap from India about how I'd actually moved out of that flat over 8 months ago just to see if I could pull anything else out of him, he transferred me to the payments department and a girl based in Manchester.  She said I was actually due a credit of £15.  I still think it's a scam however - so gave work address instead (they have junk mail filtering in place)...will see what happens

i have been getting calls from this number about 5 times a day for the last trhee days. always silent... i say hello and then after a few seconds they hang up and i get the beeeeeeeeep noise.
I have flu, this is exceptionally annoying as it has woken me up several times. i am very fed up.

Received 3 calls so far today in the matter of an hour, didn't answer as I don't answer unknown numbers & I have caller ID on my phone. Now will answer now that I know it is British Gas. I do owe them money, £56 but as a lot of people here say its a scam I won't be paying by card, they can send me a bill & I will pay that way. They didn't leave a message either.

My mobile telephone has been called by 01613326130 several times over the last few months, and I don't believe there has ever been someone on the other line.

Today, I answered a call from them and for 2 minutes and 56 seconds I listened to British Gas' theme/hold music and announcements about new British Gas offers and thanking me for being on hold. I was determined to stay on the line to confront the person calling, but after 2 minutes and 56 seconds, they disconnected the call. They called. They hung up. I am VERY tired of this.
