It's lovely to know that people are so generous, especially at this time of year. Listen is a fundraising organisation that is employed by nearly 40 charities. It is effective for the charities because they return at least four pounds for every one Poumd the charity pays them, and they take nothing from the money you (or in your cases do not) pledge. I have been working for them for a long time, and no it is not cold calling. We only have your numbers because you gave us them, so to call it telemarketing is just wrong. You are not customers or clients, you are potential supporters of a charity. If you ignore the call you will be called back. So answer the call, be polite (yes the other person on the phone is doing a job and making a difference to all sorts of disadvantaged people who apparently none of you give a [***] about) and asked to be taken off the database. This will mean you will not be called and the charity or listen ever again in any form, post e mail or phone calls.
You should all be ashamed of yourselves. Merry Christmas.

Called me at least twice a month for two month after donating to Red Nose Day appeal. Totally wrong for charities to chase you after you made a donation. Ringing me in college and disturbing lessons, despite being told to stop contacting me they keep on harassing me

I have had numerous calls from 02076 197597 over the past few weeks. I donated by mobile to a charity a few weeks ago(I cannot remember which one) and since then I have had these calls. I didnt answer any of  them because I didnt recognise the number. I wish someone could tell me who is ringing. In future I am NOT donating any more to charity via my mobile, as I think it is linked to my charity donation

Completely agree that yes we donated so they have our numbers, but when being asked to stop contacting me and to remove me from the database about two months ago and still calling, that is pest calling. I along with many family members give to charity every month, UNICEF, WWF and various others. I dont appreciate the calls every so often asking for more money.

Frank..... He's right. Do some research.... realise you're wrong. So wrong! Then come back to us once you're a little bit more educated :) Listen are paid up front then raise over double what they are initially paid. If you actually knew anything about the details on your card you'd know theres nothing anyone can do with a sort code and account number. Those that think you can be scammed from giving those details out are frankly old fashioned idiots.... bit like you.

Donated to a charity via mobile probobly about 2 years ago and got a phone call not long after asking for a donation of £30 a month. No matter how many times I explained I could not afford it they were persistant and kept ringing. Now had about 6 calls today, everytime I ignore it I get a call from a withheld number immediately after. It's ridiculous.

Charities often employ companies such as Listen to make  these calls for them as they don't have enough people to be doing it themselves in house. It means that they can contact as many of their supporters as possible in what is the most cost effective way for them. Many people don't know but having their donations given by Direct Debit or through phone bills actually removes the administration costs for the charity, so that they can now use all of your hard earned and kindly donated money toward their good causes.

The people who work in these call centres are literally paid minimum wage, and the work they do is not commission based. If they want to earn anything like the money they need to pay their bills...they need to put the hours in. Charities make a deal with companies such as Listen and pay them a specific fee from their allocated fundraising budget - every charity has one - and to be honest its 100% successful for them as for every £1 they spend on paying the company they can expect to raise £4 in funding.

These call centres are often very misunderstood, and as they tend to use automatic dialer systems It really isnt the individual on the other end of the phone's fault if they have to call you back if you say you're not available. They're just following the rules that the charity sets for them for the campaign.

And as for calling on "behalf" of the charity, every telephone fundraiser goes through a strict training process, and is monitored by the charity on the calls they are making. Before they can call on behalf of any charity, they are expected to attend a comprehensive breifing on the work that they do.

    Annoyed
Those pricks keep cold calling me

Even if I wanted to donate, I just got so annoyed they will never see a penny from me again

Time for the charities who use them to be more sensitive to the people who support them

I have been called from this number to ask for money. They stated that it was as a result of donating to Soccer Aid last year. I told them not to ring me again and now the calls throughout the day have started again.

Charities are not scams.  It is the companies which make these calls and the "chuggers" in the street, who are a disgrace.  People want to help a particular cause and often do not realise that a large part of their donations, given in this way, are creamed off by these companies to pay you your £14 per hour.  Anyone reading your disgusting post will, hopefully, stop donating this way and give the money directly to the charity. Do enjoy your money, while it lasts, and don't bother thinking about how much good that money could have done if it hadn't been wasted on you.
