Since I registered with TPS I now get about a call per day from these.  In total between this and 02075161472 I get 5 calls per day.
I am sure it is because i  registeted with TPS.

Had a call this morning from this number who advised that they had been authorised by my bank to call me.  Of course that was the end of the conversation for me but nonetheless I shall be having a word with the HSBC on Monday!

However, if this company is not authorised then stop harassing people and go and get yourself a proper job!

I too have had a call today from this GF...? on behalf of HSBC (thought I was safe answering the phone on a Sunday!) and they knew I had been into my local branch recently, Big brother watching? I immediately rang HSBC (spoke to someone in foreign parts to register a complaint.  The bank will contact me in 5 days because they don't work on Sundays, what a surprise!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If it is GfK NOP may I suggest that you check their current Company and Group structure through the internet.      It used to be that their Directors hated being called at home each time the Company called you.       Even more than that they hated complaints made to their Group chiefs in Switzerland(?)     Don't complain; do something.

There are reliable phones available that let you filter calls.

Got a call from this number claiming to be a survey on behalf of HSBC.  They knew my name and the date and time of my last visit to a local branch.  Was on my guard but I answered a few questions about staffing levels and wasn't asked anything personal or about my account, pin etc.

Just received a further call from this number but did not answer; On a previous call I answered it and pointed out to the gentleman !!! that we were registered with TPS and that both he, his line manager and the company could be fined and / or receive a prison sentence for failing to take notice ........ he simply laughed and hung up.

Was called by GKNOP on a Sunday.  I am ex-directory and on the TPS list. They were open about who they were and said they just wanted by opinions - so I asked opinions on what? The caller said "the state of the economy".  I said I was very busy- which was true - and she asked when she could call back so I said "tomorrow",.  I am not going to go out of my way to keep the appointment, but I appreciate they have a job to do and if it not too intrusive I will answer their questions as long as it doesn't take more than 10 minutes.  When I dialled 1471 it came up as "caller withheld their number" .  I generally don't answer withheld numbers but I didn't have my glasses on!!

The internet is great for finding information.   The Directors of this organisation dislike receiving business call at home just as much as anyone else.    Seek and ye shall find.         Even more so do they like their Swiss HQ team receiving complaints about UK performance.

    Called 9/2/14.
Interesting that they should change the last digit of a number, because a couple of days ago a got a call from 0207 890 9051.
Didn't answer either time and have blocked both.
I don't suppose what the nice lady told you was true (I have an uncommon number for a remote part of Scotland, and I can hardly imagine anyone in London trawling through our local directory.) I think it says more about how they devise their own numbers.
    Expect calls from 0207 890 9053 soon ?

    RESPONSE TO MY EMAIL:

Thank you for your enquiry with regards the Telephone Preference Service (TPS).  You were concerned that you had been contacted by telephone as you are registered to the TPS.

The purpose of the TPS is to screen unsolicited direct marketing calls.  Market research is not, under the current UK Data Protection Act 1998, classed as direct marketing; therefore, there is no legal requirement to screen market research samples against the preferences services when conducting market research.  The reason for this exemption is that market research meets the conditions:

    a)      that the data are not processed to support measures or decisions with respect to particular individuals, and

    b)      that the data are not processed in such a way that substantial damage or substantial distress is, or is likely to be, caused to any data subject.

Section 33, Paragraph 1, UK Data Protection Act 1998

GfK NOP is bound by the Market Research Society’s (MRS) Code of Conduct, the emphasis of which is on respondent confidentiality; in addition, we take our obligations under the UK Data Protection Act very seriously.  If you require further information on the application of the data protection requirements within market research you can view the MRS Society’s own guidelines “The Data Protection Act and Market Research” available on their website at: http://www.mrs.org.uk/standards/dp.htm#dpa98.

Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused. I will add your number to our 'do not call' list which will prevent you from receiving further calls from our company.

    Very Kind Regards

    Lindsey Betteridge

Make your complaint to the Market Research Society, details at https://www.mrs.org.uk/    Then, if you feel really cross, contact their Swiss Head Office.      That really upsets the London people.
