Report a phone call from 02088199744 and help to identify who and why is calling from this number.
- Martin replies to alan morrisYup, they called me too. I was immediately suspicious but acted dumb and played along while Googling "EVENTVWR". This confirmed my suspicion.
I kept the woman talking for about 10 minutes before telling her there was someone at the door and put the phone down on the desk. After another 10 minutes "on hold" she had hung up.
But she called me back. I asked for the postal address and registered number of the company - she gave me the website address www.click2fixs.com.
After a bit more playing along I asked her to "do something for me" - open her search engine and search for "EVENTVWR SCAM" (each letter spelled out individually). Not surprisingly she hung up!
I am saddened to see that they are scamming elderly and vunerable people and I totally agree that this kind of action is damaging the reputation of Indian call centres. I am not racist but I do not trust any call I receive with a foreign accent for just this reason. - lesandrenaYes they caught me. I thought I was receiving a call from BT I had been speaking to them several days earlier regarding lost wireless connection and thought it was the same person

- Dave ChisholmI recieved a phone call from click2fix 1st October 2010 from a 'Daniel' reporting my computer was running slow which was correct, I was asked to go to the Start menu to check for faults and warnings which there were numerous they said they would fix it for a nominal fee of between £25 of £70. I was asked to access the internet and go to click2fix.org where I allowed them remote access to my computer.
They talked me through what was happening it took a few hours and then then offered a 1 2 or 3 year service which included the clean up. I took the 1 year at £70 poUnds and paid by debIt card.
They seemed a professional group - I have pasted their reports as it was happening on remote call up.
I have since cancelled the card payment.

- SteamI just spent 27 minutes and 33 seconds speaking to a lovely fella with an incredibly strong Indian accent called Danny Murphy who was telling me he'd fix my computer which is "infected by the internet"
there was no way I'd believed his speil, and figured I'd string him along for as long as possible. The way I see it, as long as he was talking to me, he wasn't scamming some poor innocent old lady who wasn't as internet-savvy as I am. I'd set a goal of 20 minutes but once I got that I figured I could go the full half hour.
So near and yet so far!- Caller: www.click2fixs.com
- Maryloo replies to SandraMy mother (in her 80's) was also just called today by Click2Fiks and they put the fear of God into her.... She is an excellent computer user and an intelligent lady, but they frighten people who don't know too much about viruses or infections. An aggressive indian man called "Daniel" said he was from London Support Connections and that my mother's computer was one of hundreds in the area that was highly infected and that she immediately needed to go to her computer and follow his instructions. She was told to enter Click2Fiks into Google to go their website. She then followed what he told her all the way to entering some code, after being shown a number of "red" and "amber" alerts.... She then became suspicious and asked what it would all cost her! He said about £45 up to £75 but not now. She then called me and I told her to hang up. I then called them back and the number is legitimate 02088199744 and I spoke to "Daniel" who then tried to spin me the same very aggressive long yarn.
I told him it was bullsh*** and hung up.
This IS A SCAM.
Don't use them at all. - JohnOn 18th October, I had a similar experience to that described by Alan Morris on 25 Sept 2010. I was asked to follow the same instructions he was given. Having clicked on "clock" I was asked to give the colour of the "page file usage history line". When I replied "yellow", I was told that my computer could be "saved" by their Technical Department.
The technical contact was "Andrew Williamson" (but Andrew spoke with an Indian accent) who gave the 0208 number and e-mail address www.click2fixs.com.
There is a pertinent article on the Guardian website: www.guardian.co.uk. The article - dated 18 July, 2010 - deals with 'virus phone scams from call centres in India'.
Can the police / Fraud Squad be notified about the extent of this scam so that vulnerable people are not exploited in future?
Could the free Telephone Preference Service be extended to protect us against these unwanted calls from foreign call centres / callers?- Caller: click2fixs
- BSame call recieved this morning as above from Andrew (Andy) Williamson but every time I tried to confirm who they were he dodged my questions which made me more suspicious, I told him that I wanted to check that his company was legitimate and I would call him back if I was satisfied that it was. Low and behold when I googled it I found this site and to no great surprise it looks like a scam! Dirty rotten scoundrels. Well they didn't get my money. Hang up, don't let them waste your time.

- jmcSame call twice today. The guy 'Rex Williams' from 'Online Support Services' rang to say my computer had a virus and his 'qualified technician' was so concerned about my computer they just had to call and tell me about it.. what a nice person!
Despite me informing him of my profession (software engineer) and me telling him he was lying, he continued to tell me my computer was at risk..
He didn't seem too impressed when I asked for his name and company details so I could report him to the police.. he gave the company address as 16, St. Johns Street, London and the phone number as 02088199744.
Under no circumstances entertain these jokers..- Caller: click2fixs.com
- JMRS33My 74year old mother has been a victim of this click2fixs scam and lost £72. They cold called her and persuaded her she had a PC virus that they could fix. She allowed them access to her PC and paid the money. All of this despite having a very techie grandson on a permanent call. She called him the day after and he has arranged for her to stop her bank card and report this to the police.

- GidMy 72 year old mother fell for this yesterday....by the time i got round to her house, they had already gained remote access, it was like dealing with Dick Turpin. I was about as rude as you can get, but felt we were being held to ransom as he admitted that if we refused to pay, they would not finish the work they were carrying out and would hand the case straight to there legal department. Usually i would tell them to 'bring it on' however as my mum is highly reliant on her computer i felt we had no option but to see it through. It took 3 hours to sort out as when it came to paying my mum was so stressed, she got her payment details wrong, and we got referred to Visa's fraud dept! we kept going round in circles while the Foreign cyber terrorist got more and more irate as indeed did i!.
This was like being robbed at knife point, i wish my mum had called me earlier, before she had granted remote access ( which she swears she didn't agree to..) if called HANG UP!
This was the first time i had seen my mum weep since my dad died 7 years ago.- Caller: click2fixs

- Ginger Newby replies to joThis is not a specific campaign targeted at TalkTalk customers but will affect customers from a wide range of ISPs as it is a general outbound cold calling exercise where the company in question (apparently called Click2Fix) calls to entice people to pay for computer services by convincing them they need to have some additional security installed or an upgrade to their system to fix a virus. As most homes have PCs there is a good chance of their getting through to some-one who will have a PC and may be interested in what they are offering. . TalkTalk would never contact customers to ask for upfront payment to fix a fault and would re-iterate the need for everyone to be vigilant regarding cold calls.
- lorraine lawsonI know nothing about computers and these people phoned me and reassured me they were legite! I;ve been conned out of £185.00 which i could little afford. Iso angry and upset. To anyone out there dont listen to them and hang up.

- LaurieThis is clearly a scam.
Same as many in the blogs before they have contacted my wife a couple of times and she advised that her husband was the computer buff and the caller gave her the phone number 020 8819 9744 and asked that we should contact them and ask for James Watts. We never called...
However, they are quite persitent and they called again tonight and after explaing that 59 computers in our area have been infected etc etc etc.....an engineer came on the line and I asked him the name of the infection, it is now called bonaires. He said that it affects the windows operating system, when I told him I had a mac he hung up!!- Caller: www.click2fixs.com
- MSJust had the call, very suspicious from the start, especially when they handed me over to the supervisor by just passing the phone across a desk!!
I stuck with it until they wanted to remotely log on to my computer! I told them I wasn't happy with that and that I would call them if I had a problem and they just hung up!! Charming!
Don't touch them with a barge pole!!!- Caller: click2fix
- RachUnfortunately, I was one of the people who fell for it and allowed them remote access to the computer. After 20mins of having access to the family computer, I suddenly realised it was a scam and turned off the internet. I am wondering will they now have credit card details and passwords, and is the computer infected with viruses or spyware etc?? Feel like a right idiot. But at least i didn't give them any money..
- HilaryWas called by this number yesterday. I spoke to an Indian -accented lady called "Gracie Williams" and said I was registered with TPS so shouldn't be getting cold calls. She said I was mistaken, it wasn't a cold call, they were providing a service. I was very suspicious, but began the process to see what would happen - finally pretending I did not know my husband's administrator password to get rid of her. She gave me her phone number (as above) and company's name and asked me to ring back when I had spoken to my husband. When I told my husband about it he was horrified and said he was surprised I had not read about this scam in the paper as there had been a lot of reports about it recently. I am horrified to read these comments and find people have been conned out of such large amounts of money.

- carolgot a call from "alex". same experience as other people. we are technically ineot and so allowed them remote access to our lap topbecause when questioned they said they were the technical support for our provider sky. after a few minutes of them having remote access we pulled the plug suspecting this was not right. they got no bank details or money but we are now very worried about what they did get access to.
