These guys are truly on a mission to catch unsuspecting phone users.  

They have called me at least six to eight  times over the last few days - times vary - but most often about now (05.50pm) - just as I am about to organise the evening meal.  

Tonight's caller got very short shift - not rudely but assertively.    Last night's caller tied to talk over me when I said I had visitors and was in the middle of cooking – wasn’t about to let me go so I put the phone down on him which did not sit easy with me but what else can you do to get rid of them.  They are like leeches.

on sunday 4th sept 11@ 11.02am & 11.03am received missed calls frm no 02088618682.when i was at a air show in northern ireland & took no notice of it .when they ring again @ 1.49pm. & when i got home i googled it & it came up as ipsos mori.i just wish this company wld get there act together & stop ring people because i"m geting pissed off wth it.

I am afraid they are correct, because your information is not passed onto other parties for contact, nor is sold, Market Research companies get round the TPS - this is because they are also not selling you anything themselves. they may however reward you for your time.

I believe this is to allow them to reach a representative sample of the UK.

I believe they do now buy in details from other companies where you will have opted into 3rd party marketing... My advice, watch which boxes you check or don't check when online or filling in any paperwork. You would be very surprised at which companies you trust, sell on your details for such campaigns.

If you ask politely they should suppress you from there file, without complaint.

Just remember, these are people who are trying to earn a living, and so are paying taxes.... There are much worse people in this world!!

My mother got a call from this number (dialling 1471 gave the number as 000442088618682, which equates to this number). They were doing market research about TV viewing. She gets a lot of nuisance calls from the insurance comapanies wanting to cover her Sky satellite equipment. They always seem to know about her current cover, but she will not listen when I point out that her insurers are giving out/leaking the information & continues to use their service. I suspect it is them who have given her details to Ipos-mori, who own this number. Ipos-mori state on their website that they use random dialling ( see http://www.ipsos-mori.com/contactus/approachedbyus/telephone.aspx#2 ), but it seems like too much of a coincidence that it is TV related again.

Its 14.9.11, 8.15PM, just had one of these nuisance calls, from lady asking if i would do TV survey, I said NO, lady asked why not, I said I do give out my details to ANYONE.Probably a scam.

I also have signed up with bt to stop this sort of call, it was working fine till a a couple of weeks ago now seem to be getting quite a few marketing and  other rubbish calls.We can stop spam emails why not spam phone calls.

This number has phoned me 3 times in the past week or so at different times - even at the weekend.  I have an answerphone but no message is left.  Dialled the number back and got voicemail saying it is IPSOS MORI so obviously doing a survey - but it is very intrusive.

This should be illegal, it is nothing short of harrassment.

Got a call at 8.30pm from a guy who said his name was Gavin.  Wanted me to take part in a survey about something.  Didn't catch anything else because his English was so bad.

Got a call from them on my mobile today (3/10/2011) - so they're stiull pestering us.  They hung up before I could answer.  I wasnt' sorry.

Yes, 2011 and this number keeps calling me once a week at very ungodly hours!
