They do not get your phone number randomly.

It's a little bit strange that they got my number "randomly" the week after I agreed to do a paper based radio survey. At no point did they mention that the details I gave them would be used to harass me.

They said the details were to just ensure the survey I did was audit-able.

That's the last time I have anything to do with them.

You are having a laugh right? If you give away the names and addresses of thousands of people the ICO will do nothing Expecting them to help you when you receiving unwanted phone calls is a joke.

No they won't. Look at all the major data protection act breaches in the last 10 years. Many fines? No. The ICO is toothless and simply not worth wasting your time filling in the forms.

You shouldn't need to tell them to stop. I don't need to tell people to stop robbing my house for them to be in the wrong. This should not be opt-out. It should be opt-in.

The thing people should take away from this is that IPSOS Mori can not be trusted with your data. Simply don't fill in their surveys and hopefully they will go bust and the phone calls will stop.

Being called on a daily basis.  They hang up as soon as the ansaphone kicks in.

This number calls me about twice a week on my mobile. Don't know who it is, don't want to answer incase it is a premium rate scam. Can any one enlighten me

this number just rang my 77 year old mum's mobile number. How do they get her number, it only rang twice, then rung off

Just answer them and give them abuse, i had 5 calls in 2 days a few weeks ago, after answering twice and telling them to stop calling me they insisted on calling again, so i gave the lovely lady on the other end a tirade of abuse, and lo and behold no more calls. Seemples.

Have received calls from this number at least three times a day for the last month 02088618682.  Really is a nuisance

don't know how they got my grand daughters mobile number but they are now starting to upset her as she is only 13 years of age, they call all hours of the day and if she is in her bed they wake her.

I have been called by these people every day for the last week or so. I dont bother to answer it but have found out that its somesort of a research organisation. 'itselfmory' they call themselves. maybe they are trying to research how to piss people off !!!!!

It's for sone tv research I think she said. Said no last week bit, said no again and asked to be taken off the database. 'but why?' she said, 'we are just wanting surveyings, to be taken less than 3 minutes' so I said go on, as I'm stood outside waiting for someone to get out if a meeting like a dingbat. My condition was take me off if I answer the survey, so we'll see if she honours it. I was eligible for a full survey as my previous job was a 'skilled labourer'

I wasn't eligible I mean, so it lasted probably 90 seconds

Got called by these guys for the first time just now and looked up the number on here. I couldn't understand exactly what was being said because of the very poor mobile signal i get out here, but I'l keep a log of any more calls made.

The reason why these survey calls come in through tps is because they use "innocent" 0208 numbers- regular landline numbers from the London area. Tps can't tell the difference between a survey call or your long lost brother from London, so it has to let the call through.
Thats their main method- by using innocent landline numbers such as 020, 0161, 01942, etc

Phone rings, I answer, Silence........ Their phone bill, not mine :)

got a call from this unidentified number

I've had this number calling me but each time I have been out and there is no message left. I don't answer calls from "withheld" or from numbers I don't recognise so I won't be answering this one any way. I am ex-directory and  registered with the TPS. However,  this will only work with legitimate companies who follow the code of conduct of the TPS and these so-called "market research" businesses obviously have no morals or scruples so they are unlikely to adhere to any proper working practices. It follows, therefore, that they have ulterior motives in contacting people in such a way so they are clearly up to no good. If everybody answered only those calls they knew to be legitimate by using caller display these companies would soon be out of business. Anybody who calls me and leaves a legitimate message will get a callback as soon as possible. It's easy - problem solved!
