Whats the scam? - Chris LanarkshireJust got a call from this number,it was an Indian sounding woman claiming to be from some debt collection agency who confirmed my name then told me that in the last 6 years I had mounted up several credit card bills...

I have never had a credit card in my life ! - Fiona GI had a call from an Indian counding gentleman advising that he was working for a company registered with the UK Justice Department. He said that he could claim back any charges for credit cars loan mortgages that I had from before 2007. I advised I have no loans and credit charges. He said he could get me mortgage charges back as I had remortgaged and I should be able to claim perhaps thousands back, with 8% interest on top. I was sceptical and he put me on to his "Supervisor" He also confirmed that he could get this money back and would send out information to my home address which he already had. He said that he would need to confirm my identity to my address and asked what the name on my bankcard was. I told him then he asked for my bankcard number. I told him that I was not prepared to give him this information over the phone. He spent at least 5 minutes trying to persude me that this was necessary.Eventually I told him I was terminating the conversation and got the number from 1471

- jmwHad a similar message as 10 Feb 2010 (I am ex-directory). Indian sounding man who said he was from Tiscali (my broadband provider until end of 2009). He told me I have a problem with my laptop and it's wireless connection (which I have and which I have previously reported to Tiscali, so that's a bit worrying). He said he sould sell me Norton software for £96 that would last 9 years and would sort all my problems out but he wanted me to open my laptop so that he could talk me through the problems then and there. He was very pushy but I said I couldn't make a decision then and there. He said he'd phone back in 30 mins. Meatime I phoned Tiscali who knew nothing about him. When he phoned back I didn't answer it but found a message signal so dialled 1571 and got straight through to him. He wanted to know if I had my laptop open and I said I'd spoken to Tiscali and they didn't know anything about him, so he said "Oh my god" and put the phone down. I have reported it to the police who told me about this site and suggested I tell Tiscali and Trading Standards, which I probably will, but it seems nothing is being done to stop these people.
