Sorry Rod this does not work as I already have it, but are they a company who can see what you are doing on your computer as I had a call from this number today, a bank holiday and was asked if I am having trouble with my broadband. and anyway why should we pay to stop having nuisance calls to our land lines aren't BT making enough money and I am not on BT land line. just the rental?

Received a call  from and Indian sounding man saying he was from BT and asking us to put on  a computer as there was a virus in our broadband line and they needed to fix it. When asked why we needed to put a computer on to fix a problem on the line, the man said it was needed to fix it! He could not give us a reasonalble answer why we needed the computer on. When we asked if it was a scam he said he'd give us all his information and that he was calling from Cardiff. He didn't give any information and eventually hung up.

Had a call from this lot yesterday trying scam for bank, loan and credit card details claimed they could get me compensation for rate charges and claim money back for any agreements arranged prior to 1997, when I questioned the Asian gentleman and informed him I didn,t discuss any financial information over the phone, he got aggresive, after a lengthy discussion on fraud, cold calling, and bacically telling him he was lier and talking rubbish, he starting swearing and told me to F off twice.
After giving him as much back he eventially hung up.
Be carefull with this lot they are scamming for bank, credit card information, they also have programs to interigate your PC for same information.
Call both police and BT who will get the message one day and get this number blocked from source.

Yes just got the call from a man stating they were working for the Ministry of Justice and the Bank of England and I could get all my money back from loans taken out pre-1997.  What a load of rubbish.  He didn't like being questioned and eventually eneded the call.

just got a call from this number saying that they were my internet provider and trying to give me free for nine years norton spyware package. they didnt actually say who my internet provider was or how they got my number. when i told them that i dont have internet explorer, i actually use modzilla they went blank then hung up!. any one else having this at the moent?!

Received a call from this number on 1 April 2010. A man with a heavy East European accent did not identify himself, but said he was calling about our computer repair. I rang off.

I too have been plagued by calls from this same number who suggested they were from 'Technical Support For You' which doesn't seem to exist. I tried to gain further company details from the caller and how he had got my ex directory number but he was unable to answer correctly. I have registered this number with TPS and would suggest you do the same so enough complaints are registered and only then will further investigation & action take place.
Please read the TPS email response I received below and register (FOC) your number with them so you too can try to stop these annoying calls. (the calls seem to have stopped... for now!)

You may already be aware that TPS does not have the facilities to know which companies are calling you and therefore relies on the complainant to ascertain this information upon the receipt of an unsolicited direct marketing call.
Despite our best efforts TPS has not been able to ascertain valid contact and/or address details to raise this particular complaint.
Although we have been unable to raise this complaint against the offending company we have logged and will include details of this complaint in our regular report sent to the Information Commissioners Office (ICO) who are the government body responsible for enforcing the Privacy and Electronic (EC Directive) Communications Regulations 2003.
This will enable them to look at trends in complaints being made and where possible identify those organisations who are not complying with the regulations surrounding such calls. To complain about an unsolicited call made to a number registered with TPS please provide us with details of the call by completing a complaint form or by logging a complaint online at

The least information required for us to be able to process a complaint will be the company name and/or telephone number and the date & time of the call with an explanation of the element of direct marketing involved in the call. Any additional information i.e. name of caller, company address will help us investigate the complaint.

I have just had a call from this number and the man (who was very difficult to understand) said he was from BT technical support and I had a problem on my line.  He asked if I had a problem with my internet connection as he thought I had a virus which he needed to clear and he would be able to make my machine run faster.  Told him I had no idea as I was ironing.  He got quite cross and said "well the last time you used it then".  I said it seemed a little slow.  He then asked me to go infront of the machine and start putting in website details.  At this point I asked him how did I know where he was from and he very aggressively told me BT again.  Told him I wasn't even with BT and which point he shouted at me and I put the phone down.

Got a phone call from 07024122123 today claimed to be Virgin Media technical support and they were introducing a new remote service whereby they can fix slow connection etc.  I was stupid enough to give my debit card details but I have been onto my bank immediately and had the card stopped and a new one is being issued.  Advised bank not to pay out to any unusual debits etc in future as I will ring them if I have anything new going out of account.
This computer would not let the software get through and that is AVG9.
I am horrifed to hear that this is a scam.

I just got a call from this number telling me that they had detected a virus on my broadband and that my computer would be running slowly. I asked what right he had to be checking my phone line and he got quite agressive. Then I asked who he worked for and he said BT and told me to check my computer.
I phoned BT and they said that they had not made such a call and that my Broadband was fine.

A few minutes ago I was telephoned by a company who said they were PC Tech Support from Utility Warehouse.  They said that they had noticed my wireless internet connection had been cutting off which they thought was a result of viruses on my computer.  They wanted to check my computer for viruses and asked me to log into Teamviewer which, I know, would give them full access to my computer.  I asked them to prove they were from Utility Warehouse but they then said they only provided PC support to Utility Warehouse customers, so I asked for their address and all he would say was that they were in Cardiff.  I asked for their website and they gave two different ones, both false.  They also gave the Customer Care telephone as 0292 300 8585 and another telephone 0192 300 8585.

I have just reported this "impersonation" to Utility Warehouse who said they know about them but thought they had stopped doing it.  I then dialled 1471 on my phone and heard that the last phone number to dial me was 07024 122123 at 6.11pm.

they rang and becasue i am sick of people trying to sell me things i hung straight up.. They rang  back (an indian woman) and she was like you are very rude for hanging up the phone!! She was then asking about my computer and if it was working okay.. i was like yes, what are you trying to sell me.. and she was like nothing you keep your money safe, you are very rude person very rude.. i then asked for her name and to speak to her supervisor she was like my name is mrs.... in an indian accent and i dint understand so she called me a piece of [***] and because i still couldnt understand her she shouted down the phone you are a piece of [***] and hung up on me!

Received call from man, purporting to be from my broadband supplier, to tell me I had a virus on my computer. As I was suspicious, I questioned him, whereupon he became abusive then hung up. My Isp has no record of a call.

i got called twice yesterday and when i called the number it says out of service, and so i pressed one to get through to sales.
basically the guy told me they are con artists who try to tell you that if your computer freezes download something from a website to stop viruses, however what you are downloading is a virus

i told the woman today that there was nothing wrong with my internet and she said yes there is so i shouted do not phone a gain, lets see if they do

Got a call from this number about 20 minutes ago. They yawned down the phone then turned what sounded like a tv up. I tried to talk to them again, with no reply i put the phone down. When i went to check the number they were still on the other end of the phone. They hung up after about 15 minutes. Strange.

Said they were from virgin, knew all our details, we are with sky, they said we can have an account upgrade. We knew straight away it was dodgy, changing our number now, getting too many of these.

I'm being called on a daily basis by these people, they say they want to claim back credit card charges. I tell them that I've never paid any such charges but they won't take no for an answer and say they are going to send me some reclaim packs and I have to fill them in and return with a £1 cheque with each one. Asked me my date of birth which I didn't give them. I don't know how to get rid of them. Not English- hard to understand what they are saying.  It's clearly a scam to get my bank details. If the packs do arrive I'll take them to the police station.

just had call from this number.  Said his name was John (indian sounding man, not very good english), said he was from "the technical dept. ringing about your telephone and broadband line.  are you having problems with your line"  I said no, asked which company he was.  it went quiet. he hung up.  we're tps registered.  next time will let my 3yr old talk to him!!

hi everyone, I hate to say this but I think you will find it is not a company as such well at least not intended from a company.
I too have recieved these calls for a few years but the individual of the same number made an error, well a few to be honest, the biggest one which pointed out that it was not a company when they text my husband for work to be done at their home. The message sent was not what a customer would send, the language etc, since then of course the wally has tried phoning our landline and subsequently previously mobiles too.
Contact BT report it and have a months free trial of choose to refuse, also if you have noted down when the calls come and if you want what happens etc then pass this to the police. The calls will stop!
If you do answer however in the mean time can I suggest that you remind the caller that your number should of been removed from their database and if you are withheld then  they shuold not have your number and although they may think they are bothering you its actually their time their wasted and although your flattered they wish to waste it on you, you would like to decline from their unwanted interest in you. This actually leaves the caller a little dumb founded not to mention he/she then speaks in their own accent and voice, you then point out that you have listed their number and further action will be taken and of course remember your manors with a smile on your face wish them a good day!
Like I said it does stop but only if you follow my advice above, contact BT today whether you are with them or not and if you want to contact the police-only if you hacve a diary of events will this make any difference with the police though and dont do it on the emergency callers! Trust me theres always someone.
I sympathise with you all as the calls do drive you mad, and its frightening when your children take the calls and subsequently become afraid especially when they have had a traumatic past and have had to move due to violent harrassment to then have this....so I advice you all stop it now before it drives you nuts.
Good luck! Dont give your home number out to anyone you may not be sure of, it sounds common sense but we have all done it and wish we hadnt, as some people will use their places of work to harrass you as they seem to think it cant be traced back!! Ummmmmm

dont try to call it back its a con and you will be charged for it just report it to bt u can have your number changed dont log it with any company make sure bt have x directed it too
