I didn't call this number back so I can't confirm that it is part of the scam mentioned above. It does look similar though.

Pretty much the same as above.  The voice said "Hello, Hello"  Like he could not hear me. Sounds like part of the same scam to me. This has to be stopped.

I just wanted to add that if you do call this number back it is not genuine as it is a dead line. Have these sad beings got nothing better to do with their time. Obviously not. How very sad they have to resort to something so childish to pass their time.

Received a call about 5 minutes ago form 07049208705 Exactly the same (a man's voice saying "hello hello"). I did ring back........an answer machine picks up saying office hours are between such and such a time but cuts off before they say the name of the company. Thats why I looked for this page as it seemed a bit odd. I hope it hasn't cost me too much............I'm a bit worried now.... :(

These 070 numbers are not mobile numbers, they are a type of premium rate number.  Your Network take a share of your money before passing the rest on to the company that owns the numbers.  These types of fraud generate millions for the Networks.  That is why Ofcom turns a blind eye.

070 490 xxxxx and 070 492 xxxxx are supplied by this company

the above 'scam' appears to be organised fraud that 2communications Limited is profiting from.

Their 070 492 xxxxx numbers are also being used in a missed call/call back scam

Just had a call from 07049 210002 - as everyone else, just male saying 'hello, hello', as if bad line with static, then goes dead.  Did not recognise the voice.  Pleased I checked on this site before calling it back.  Appears to be a scam.

Just got a call from 07049 210056 - as others report a rather posh man's voice saying 'hello, hello' on a crackly line then cut off.

At 10:24 today I got a call from 07049205701 unfortunately I couldn't find my handset in time so I dialled 1471 and made a note of the caller's number.

At first glance it looked like a mobile number so I phoned the operator to make sure and she told me it would cost 4p/min to call this number, just out of curiousity I asked if there was a connection charge and at this point she told me it was 50p; so I sarcastically "thanked" her then for letting me know about the connection fee without me having to ask, she then got really snotty and ended the call.

What are BT and Ofcom doing to stop this? They want their [***] kicking!

Certainly BT are going to do nothing about this as someone pointed out they are making millions from these calls.

Later I phoned the operator on Virgin's landline service and after I convinced her it wasn't a mobile
number she eventually gave me the company name TELXL. I googled the name and found their website: http://www.telxl.com/en/default.aspx but they don't display their email address, they do allow you to fill out an online complaint form and provide details of how to get in touch with Ofcom.

I think I'll drop a line to BBC's Watchdog programme: watchdog@bbc.co.uk . I urge everyone else who has had one of these calls to do the same. We need to alert everyone, some people will ring these numbers thinking they are from people they know and when they don't get through may try again.

If someone calls me on from a mobile on my landline I'll call them back on my mobile because I have "free" minutes included in my contract but any calls to these scam numbers will cost extra; a LOT extra!
