I was waiting on a call regarding jsa. I had the same problem as most of you, they only rang for a messly 3 rings. I tryed to return the call and got the answer machine message saying the will contact me back. After tralling thro this site a man called jim surgested to phone this number 08000 55 66 88 which i did. this was the wright thing to do as i sorted out my meeting with the advisor  within seconds. no more worrys.

This is the UK department for Work and Transport. I called the number back but got a recorded message saying "You were called by the Department for Work and Transport but were unavailable. If we still need to talk to you, we will call again later".

Yes I'm also a JSA claimant. I tried the 0800 556688 number and got a recorded message saying I will be charged for the call and if that was okay to hang on and I would be connected. I was then cut off.
I tried from a landline just to make sure but got another recorded message saying the number I had dialed had not been recognised.
Sounds like they don't like people calling them back...

It is the Department for Work and Pensions

I have this calling me and I called the back and it goes to a voice mail switchboard saying the stereotypical "You were contacted by the department of work and pensions a member of our team will get back to you later" - but my question is how do you know that they are the department of work and pensions!?

It was so annoying, I was expecting their calls and they called me, BUT they rang me just for a mili second! I didnt even have a chance to answer it! I just grabed my phone when it started to ring and what did I see? You had one missed call. Unbelievable.

This is to do with Benefit claims. Applied for job seekers allowance yesterday and they tried to phone me this morning, sounds like i'm going to be earning my benefit's after all listening to everyone else's comments..lol

It is the DWP.  I had a missed call, looked them up on here and then rang back the number after establishing who it was.  The automated call explained that it was the DWP and that somebody would call me back.  They initially called at 13:05.  They called a second time at 14:00.

It was regarding a claim I made yesterday online for JSA.  They do ask for you by name and they do have security questions, but the helpful man, Geraint, that I spoke to, explained first that he was calling from DWP re the JSA claim before asking me any questions.  The questions were first line of address and post code, date of birth, National Insurance number and who I bank with.  The last is of no use to anybody trying to scam you, and the first three are all questions any government/financial agency will ask for security.  As for NI number, you've already given them all the information on the application.

The call took a total of a couple of minutes, just booking an appointment at my local Job Centre, explaining what documents I need to take with me and how to cancel the appointment should I need to.

He explained why the documents were relevant and what the process would be at the appointment.  He asked if I had any further questions then wished me all the best.

I for one am pleased with the service.

This number belongs to Jobcentre/DWP you can't call them back on this number.

Ring 0845 6003115 > Jobcentre Plus and ask to speak to management.  If you are fortunate as I was, you will get a Team Leader who in my case was very nice and helpful, as was the member of staff who passed me on to him.  Someone calling from the no. 0800 0232635 was extremely rude to me. I received an apology from the Team leader I spoke to on the 0845 number I've just supplied and as it was offered to me, I await the outcome of their investigation / their apology in writing.  I was very badly shaken up and crying, and I'm 48 years of age.  I can't take much more of the bullying and abuse.

I received a letter about an assessment and for some reason, as the letter explained, they are phoning people before sending out the questionaire one needs to complete >migration <.

Don't take any abuse.  Complain because we all need protection from some very nasty elements at large.

When I rang the number I've supplied above, I got through to Bangor.  I don't know if this is usual, or it's a national number which calls can end up anywhere around the country.  The Team Leader said they are using thousands of agencies.  Where does dwp get them from?  Straight from the hand of satan?  Oh no, that's right, they re-programme them > to kill.

they called me twice today at 8:17am and again at 9:35am.They literally rang for a second that's not enough time to pick up and answer a mobile!

I have just received a phone call from this number asking to speak to my son (it is DWP)  as he had made a claim online, her manner was very abusive, would not tell me who she was, kept saying my son was expecting the call (he cannot sit in all day waiting) I even asked her if it was about job seekers allowance, her answer was she cannot divulge that information, asked if she would like to leave a message said no, I asked if my son could ring her back, said no. then she abruptly put the phone down on me. These people really need to go back to their training ground and learn a bit more about manners and how to speak to people politely. I hope someone from DWP reads these forums and takes appropriate action but I don't suppose for one minute they will, next time they ring I will have a whistle ready to blast them out.

Why on earth would you want to blast a whistle down the phone to them, you stupid woman!? Why would you want to risk deafening someone who was calling to try and help your son? Sort yourself out.
