- JonTipIts the Jobcentre JSA hotline calling with regards claims for Jobseekers Allowance. They call back up to 3 times and then stop which means so does your application for Benefit.

- Incompentence'R'us.Having read through most of the comments here, and experienced a similar situation to a lot of people, it makes my blood boil that I'M the one who is currently out of a job due to redundancy and the people who work at the jobcentre are actually employed. It defies belief!
I started a claim online on Saturday since I didn't want to deal with an hour long phone call - I hate taking calls from,or making calls to. people other than friends. It explained online they'd be intouch within the next two working days. So, either Monday or today. I specified on the form that I couldn't take a call on Monday. And then put my preference down as PM on a Tues.
However I decided to get up at 8.30am so I could wait for the call since I had a funny feeling they'd ignore my request. I've been sat by my phone all day, with the exception of when I went to the toilet for 2 minutes, and came out to see they'd called me at 10.30am. ARRGGHHH.
I've been waiting in all day because I knew they'd ask some details I'd need to have at hand.
Will they call me back? Do I have to sit in all day tomorrow again wondering if they'll call me, or is there anyway I can get intouch with them to get this bloody call out of the way?? - Paul H@Rand Hobart
Your post from 14 Dec is ridiculous. You mention courtesy, but clearly you have courtesy for no-one, since you go on to describe an employee as a 'thick tart'. Added to that, you also name the employee, violating her right to privacy under the DPA.
In a final notion of stupidity on your part, you say the following:-
'As for the DPA; you'd think the DWP would understand it and know that telling me who they were is not in contravention of the act.'
Actually, in this case it would have been a contravention. Why?, because you have no right to know it is the DWP calling, since you were not the intended recipient of the call. Even if it is your phone.- Caller: DWP
- StaceyMissed the call and no message was left so looked online...
- gelthis is a scam, people - i spoke to the benefits agency, and they are aware of someone using a dwp line to call people and ask for their details... dont give it to them. b******s

- Jim| 3 repliesJobcentrePlus will only call you twice. They're unable to leave a voicemail or identify themselves to a third party for Data Protection reasons.
If you do need to contact JobcentrePlus to complete your claim, just call 08000 55 66 88.
Being one of the said 'incompetent idiots', I can confirm this is correct... - bobertSame for me too, told them to call any time in the afternoon, they call at 8:15am :-/
How long does the call take in reality? (they claim ~ 40mins)
What do they ask exactly?
Lastly, how many times do they try to call in total?
Cheers - Jo| 1 replyIf they are going to call you at whatever time they like then why have the option of saying when you want to be called???
I requested call PM, they called at 8.45am -I don't think it should count as one of the two calls if they can't call you at a requested time! How on earth are you supposed to be confident they are dealing with your application correctly if they can't even tell the difference between AM and PM?!- Caller: DWP

department of work and pensions.
Well i was contacted this morning, by these muppets who asked for another person when i asked who was calling i was told they could not let me know because of the data protection. christ i thought must be serious. i rang the number back only to have a recorded message say the depatment of works and pensions rang and if they need to contact you again they will. so much for there data protection. bunch of muppets. lol - CliveIt's the DWP (Department for Work and Pensions). I made a claim online for Incapacity Benefit. They said that they would call within two working days for further information to substantiate my claim. I filled in the form online on the Friday and they called on the following Tuesday. Unfortunately I was out at the time. Would be helpful if they left an automated message.

- KoRnDOGSame thing here, requested a PM call, they rang me at 9:34 am. As i was not expecting to be called that early, i was not ready and could not get to the phone in time. Now this is going to affect how and when my claim is settled and i am sure that i will lose a few days benefit due their stupidity of not following their own instructions.

- jennikinsHad this number ring me twice. I missed them both. I told them to ring me on fri morning because im away all thursday. They ran Thurs afternoon. Such simple instructions! And didnt even leave a message so I can ring them. Its now fri afternoon and no call yet :-(

- DannyI was called today, I asked not to be called on Friday the 4th of June as my I was awaiting a phone charger. 1st attempt at contact and it was a total failure by them. The phone charger arrived about 1 hour ago.
The only positive was they actually called in the PM as I requested, yeah!
I had saved their number from a year or so ago so it is DWP. As everybody here knows =)- Caller: DWP
- sophieThey called me just nowww ... I never manage to get to my phone in timee! But I have an appointment up the job center todayy so why are they ringin me if it is themm?

- Riz| 1 replyI answered the call but they wouldnt tell me who they were untill i confirmed who I was, not prepaired to confirm anything untill i know who im speaking to.
- TamApplied last night saying CALL ANYTIME OTHER THAN FRIDAY (i.e today) got a call at 8:30am, which I didn't answer because of the 0800 number (Been applying for a crap load of jobs that have turned out to be scams that keep calling - everyone beware! REED has a lot of scam stuff on it!).
Followed what 'Jim' said on here and phoned 0800 0 55 66 88 expecting to be greeted by the usual robospaz followed by incompetence man but instead, faced 3 options, held the line twice and got put through to a very very very friendly and helpful lady after only a short wait with vivaldi's four seasons (which, as my cold extremities will tell you, was inappropriately 'spring' allegro! - such madness!!).
I thought I would post back on here because she told me everything I needed and i've got my big interview next tuesday - if only I could be saying this about one of the thousands of jobs I have been applying for!- Caller: DWP
- aprilgot a call early this morning to early to pick up just wanted to no who called and why
