Caller claimed to be BT and wanted us to confirm our details. My wife said no, you rang us, it's up to you to prove who you are. He soon gave up.

Very worrying that these scammers can spoof a genuine 0800 number like this.

Strange this is supposed to be from BT  as they are not my provider

the number is BT. I didn't answer it. they left a voicemail and also sent a text message after. as I reported an issue with my service, an engineer had to be sent out as arranged. they were calling back as the issue is a fault on the line and an engineer is no longer needed. as the fault is outside and not inside the home.  genuine call

BT calling about missed bill payment, could hardly understand the women on the phone.

I answered 2 calls the other day from them, one at teatime, the other at 20.50, on my father`s phone.  I refused to give personal details as requested and demanded do know why they were calling so late supposedly regarding an account query. Told them to put it in writing!  Very worrying. Concerned that elderly folk receiving calls from this number claiming to be BT but asking for personal information.

Definitely a scam. Confirmed with BT. And reported to Action Fraud and My provider.These people are tenacious. Do not let them wear you down. Contact BT

I was called from 0800 0285 085 @ ~7.00pm 17.March.2017
I picked it up after 16 (double) rings. A foreign sounding woman asked me to confirm my Christian name.  I asked who it was twice but could not make out the answer.  I then said that I couldn't understand what they were saying (which was true), and rang off.
I am hearing impaired.  Additionally, I don't think my call quality isn't that good.  I am a BT customer.
The caller wasn't anyone I knew.

caller purports to be from BT, to discuss your account. Problem is, I don't and have never had a BT account.

Called 9.35am. No message, I ignored it. If this is BT then they should leave a message.

Write to Gavin Patterson, a short letter BT plc 81 Newgate St. London ECiA 7AJ.?

Called us today, saying they are bt and wanted our account number, we we refused they told us to call 150 for info then hung up

Dont call any of these numbers back. That is the scam.  The call will be to a premium cost line and could cost you a fortune..

I have had many calls from this number. I don't answer. My latest one was this morning, Good Friday. They never give up do they? Well, they'll have a long wait because I won't answer the phone to them - ever. I'm not even with BT so maybe a scam to get me to switch to them. No thanks, too much trouble with them in the past.

Just reported this number above. I now notice they have made numerous calls to an old mobile phone I keep in the car in case of emergencies. Goodness knows where they got that number from. This is a 13 year old phone I haven't used for about 5 years. I thought it would be useful to keep in the car in case of emergencies and it does still work. Very strange.

Called to ask why I had cancelled second direct debit, which shouldn't have been set up. I had indeed cancelled it two days before. Scary how they knew, if it was a scam. As I had been having mega problems with BT for months, they got a piece of my mind. They hung up and probably regreted calling me! I then called BT, with a number I've had for years and was told that the call was a scam, along with the second DD that had been set up, however when I was put through to India again to check that they hadn't taken the second DD, I was told it wasn't a scam and they are going to refund me! Confused!

We had a BT broadband fault and rang to report it, 24 hours later had a call from this number to arrange an engineers visit, the 8am until 1pm schedule has just passed. I wish they would ring again so that I can have a go at them.

An oriental lady said she was from BT and asked for my my name, address etc. I refused and said I'd ring then back as they could be Sabine ringing from anywhere. I checked number and
