hcl is actually doing some of bt's work for them and also have centres in the uk. Even though it is an indian call centre you may well get an english voice on the phone and they are legitimatly calling on behalf of bt.

I have been having problem with my phone and got in touch with my provider to fix it. They sent me a text to confirm when they will come and fix it and it has this number at the bottom to contact them if I need to change appointment. I then received 2 calls from this number today but did not answer.

It seems to be legitimate in my case O2/BT

I have just been called twice on my Mobile from this number - AT 6.47AM!!!!! (Do they not understand sleep!!)
Have no idea who it is but if like everyone says it is BT - why are they calling my T mobile phone!!! ??

Recieved this as a missed call 11/03/2011. wary of returning call.

I got called by this number but couldn't answer at the time. Looked it up and it seems from here that it is BT. We (business) have made 2 big complaints to BT this morning and will prob be contacted back by them at some point - was this BT trying to follow up the complaints or not? - they didn't even leave a message on the voicemail. They are a rubbish set up, aren't they.

just got a cal from this number, early in the morning, but i was sleeping so didn't pick it up,,,it was second time first time it was happened in December 2010, is it any call from recruiter company,,,?

My uncle works for BT and I can confirm, this is a number that is shown when you receive a call from them.

I had people calling me about an ad I placed, in fact two seperate people, called the number is BT, sounds like some people are getting free call's at bt's expense!

It's a generic BT number.
Didn't answer it but they left a voicemail, and the number in the voicemail is our business accounts manager at BT.

Call was about our account. Not a scam at all.

I just got a call from this number in response to a form I submitted on the BT website complaining about calls from another number (one of BT's partners called 2Touch who keep cold calling me).

This number is at least associated in some way with BT and may be a generic number as suggested by several other people in older posts.

I didn't pick up, but I had a message left on the answerphone telling me that I would be contacted about my complaint by e-mail. I'm asuming only BT complaints dept will have seen the form I submit on their website so it can only be them calling me.

Female who called said she worked for BT and that it was a marketing call regarding their website services (I assume that they wanted to promote my website or similar).  Refused to speak to her, but she seemed polite.

Firm over mis=sold insurance. They dont leave a message but keep calling til you answers.

I just got called by this number and they said that they wanted to call this number to ask if my line was working... I just said it blatently is as you just called me and I answered!

Funny story just happened to me. The number is a BT general number. My partner works for BT in Brentwood, UK, and when he calls from his desk phone, this is the number that comes up on the system.  Now on my work phone I can see other peoples' numbers when their phone rings and I noticed that the secretary on the team had a phone call, from this number. It was flashing on my screen and she was on the phone for a while. I got paranoid because I know that whenever my partner calls me, that's the number that comes up. I thought she was on the phone to him for about 20mins... freaked out. I called her right back when she hung up and she explained that she was talking to the BT conference centre regarding a conference call number they had provided. Phew. Lawd. BT need to sort this out - nearly gave me a heartattack that someone was being suspicious!
