Got a call from these guys today, the phone rang twice and hung up.

Have received two calls from D & B with an automated message.  Don't know what they want and didn't hold on to find out.  Am subscriber to TPS so this should not happen.

Was out when I got a call from this number.  Reading these posts, I'm glad!  I've had a lot of calls in the past purporting to be from Dun & Bradstreet though: why would they need to call at all?  I've dealt with those in the past by restricting any information to that freely available on my website and would certainly never share bank information.

Just had a missed call from this number on my mobile - I have had no past dealings with Dun & Bradstreet.

Automated Service saying they are checking the telephone number registered with them (?) Who?

I just got the automated message on my answer phone about my phone number being verified (verified for what?).  The beginning of the message was cut off so I couldn't hear it all.

Got a call today; automated message about verifying this telephone number. I didn't have to take action but if I wanted to know more I could ring number... (I hung up)

Stop calling!

Following the unwanted  automated message I I rang 01628 492000 and spoke to an adviser. They put me through to customer services (option 3) and I told them to remove me from the list. Time will tell whether it's done.

Received 2 calls from this number yesterday - the first the caller rang off as soon as the phone was picked up (very annoying!), the second I think I missed. Now aware of who it is (D&B or Indian call centre reps and they will get the usual run-around from me if I have time which is wonderful sport. Or I will just ask them to hang on a min while I "check something" and just leave the phone unattended. Another favourite is my 'Bulls**t' toy which announces various forms of the message at top volume.

Just got a call from this number saying it was an automated call just to verify numbers on their database.  I am annoyed that I answered it as I have juct confirmed my number exists.
I am now awaiting the barrage of nuisance calls

Silent call pests do not ring them back just report them.

I missed a call too-called the no which says that it was D&B & mentions the website, howver the nature of their questions-mentioned by others-leaves a lot to be desired!

Just had a call, it was an automated message saying they were just verifying that this was a working telephone number!

Oh god, stand by for a flood of tele-marketing calls!!

I've had the automated message for the first time today, on my TPS registered house phone, I run a small business and want nothing to do with anyone who phones me apart from customers. Having read the above posts I can see that D&B have p##sed quite a few of us business owners off, not the brightest idea for a company who's customers are businesses!

I never divulge any informaion over the phone and always ask politely that my number be taken off their list, I've noticed that seems to have reduce the number of unsolicited calls I get, I know it can be tempting to hit them with a torrent of abuse, try being nice first though. If someone was particulary rude to me I'd take pleasure in keeping their number ON the list. Having said that, I feel like I want to punish companies who phone me without my permission, if I get any hassle from Dunn and Bradstreet (or any other company) I will use these types of sites to find out about them, then use a cheap and unregistered pay as you go phone to harrass them, preferably using their freephone numbers (using 0800buster so it doesn't cost me anything).

I don't know why companies act in such ways, it's like folk advertising aggresively- if it was a good product or service they'd have plenty of work, it shows desperation in my opinion.

Anyway, enough procrastinating for me, back to work.

Thanks to everyone who has written above too, it helps to know there are other feeling the same annoyance with these telephone irritants.

Remember these companies have phone lines themselves and if enough of us get p##sed off enough we could bring them down- lots of people using phoneboxes and unregistered pay as you go phones could use up their time and cost them money.

If you're really annoyed you could dial the offending company's number (ideally their 0800 number) each time you walk past a phonebox, just leave the receiver off the hook and enjoy the moment!

They waste our time, we waste theirs.

After reading the comments above I have now place Dunn and Bradstreet on my blacklist of companies, ones to never give a penny to.

Just received a call from this number when I was out, no message left.  I know that D&B do supply information to a lot of sources, including many of the free directory sites, so if they have incorrect details of your company/organisation then it can feed through into these other sites,

Why should I pay to call your (0870) customer services number to stop you breaking the law?
It's about time you stopped calling people whose phones are registered with the TPS.

Just because you use an offshore call centre does not mean you are not liable.
I shall be writing to my MP to get this nonsense stopped once and for all.
You have no right to "verify' my phone is active, and then sell my private and personal details to other companies.

Fecking anoying when I'm TPS registered. Gonna take a dump in a Jiffy bag and post it to them...

If you have a business, they will call to see the number is still active.  They wont sell to you.  they provide business reports on sole traders/ non ltd, and need to ensure their data is correct.
