i have a very good idea how they got started in the first place posing as another satellite firm using peoples details from a stolen database! Very dodgy indeed and they have no qualms about ripping old age pensioners off as long as they make money themselves. They are selfish money grabbing a holes who care about no one else but themselves! I have worked for satellite warranty firms and know people in the same circles as the guys who run it and I can tell you that it is as scam and they damn well know it, they just like to pretend they are reputable and out to help people haha... All they want is to line their own pockets! I stopped doing sat sales as it made me feel disgusted with myself even though I could make decent money. Let me tell you the guys that own these companies have made a lot of money from it and roll around like they are a big success but really they are just low life losers who couldnt cut it in a proper respectable career where u can look yourself in the eye each day without feeling like a piece of [***]! You know who you are... Just know this, money does nt make you successful when you'be done it by [***] people over and conning oaps out their pensions! Such a sad world we live in now where people are so consumed by money that they sacrifice their integrity and literally sell their soul to get it... Rant over! BTW I have a proper job now working with young people to help them turn their lives around... Not amazing money but I am happy and feel good in myself. I wonder if the guys who run this company can say the same...

Just visited my parents today & found out that last Fri 12th April 2013 my Dad paid £49.99 over the phone to this company for a years cover to stop nuisance calls! This seemed to me an awful lot of money and alarm bells started ringing so when I got home I looked into Homeguard Direct and have found THIS website!! And it seems my suspicions were right!! I am fuming to say the least, my Dad is 80yrs old and suffers from Parkinsons! I am going back there tomorrow as 'the paperwork' which the man said would be there within a couple of days still hasn't arrived so I will be on the phone to them! Will update after!

Very convincingly told me when I first answered my phone, that they were 'Telephone Direct Services' connected to BT. They give a service which blocks calls from Marketing Companies eg. double glazing, kitchens, bathrooms etc. They offered me a 3 year plan for £69 including extra 6 months free. Convinced it was a good plan, after Patricia explained all the benefits, I agreed, gave my card details (idiot me). She gave me a reference number, said paperwork will arrive in 5 working days, I have a 7 day cooling off period, then informed me my payment will show in my Bank Statement as Homeguard! OMG Ive had dealings with these people before (idiot me again), She said payment had gone through, couldnt be cancelled but the details of the 7 day cooling off period will be in paperwork. SCAM!

domestic and general sky protect is the only company endorsed by sky, it is illegal for any other company to state they are a part of sky. Domestic and general are allowed to say they are a part of sky, they use skys booking system and skys engineers so it is the same as getting a call out from sky but it isnt £65 up front. if a company claims to be from sky ask them to confirm your sky accoutn number only domestic and general sky department and sky themselves can do this.

I am currently insured by HGD and this is how that happened they called me and pretended to be my original insurance provider i was with and said that we needed to renew with them so we did for £120 for 3 years and then found out they were a different company. then later on 2.5 years later we  had an issue with one of my sky boxes in my house. I called them and they informed me that I did not insured the 3 sky boxes I had in my home but they said I informed them I had only one but that was not true as when they called i mention I had sky multi-room and had 3 sky boxes. anyway then they mentioned that due to one of the boxes being a HD box it was not covered by them and had to pay another £30. we paid again and then they said someone would come out and fix the box. they sent an engineer and came and said the problem was the tree outside and that the sky satellite dish needed to be moved higher he said he could not do it. I felt very annoyed as this was the first call out since switching to them and they couldn't do anything. further more we called sky and they said that the company is not recommended by them and sky gave us a different company to go with. we called them they came out and did what the other company couldn't. then HGD called and said that if we wanted to cancel we would have to pay an administration fee to do so which made no sense what so ever as we paid for the cover already and there engineer did nothing. I would say they are a con and tryt o get more money out of people every time they call.

You only need to read the posts on here to see this is a scam.  They are running the satellite repair scam and the nuisance call scam from the same number.  There is no service which can stop all nuisance calls.  They can be stopped by call blocking units or the BT6500 'phone.  How could they have "noticed" you are getting nuisance calls?  To do that they would have to be monitoring your 'phone, and they can't do that.  Just use your commonsense and decide whether you believe any of what you have been told.

Glad to have helped.  The problem is that nuisance calls need to be reported and who you report them to depends on the type of call.  I understand that the "Which" website has combined all the types of calls and where they should be reported to, so that might be worth checking.  I get round the problem of nuisance calls by having a BT6500 'phone.  You can put the numbers of friends, family etc on a VIP list and give them a different ring tone.  You can block International, Withheld and Unavailable numbers as well as 10 individual numbers. The 'phone doesn't ring and they can't leave a message. I tried it out by blocking my son's number and asking him to ring.  Apparently there is silence and then the message "your call is not accepted"..  Although 10 numbers doesn't seem a lot it seems that, after getting the message a couple of times, they stop 'phoning and they can be removed from the block.  I bought the 'phone in early March and now can go weeks without nuisance calls  Our only worry was our youngest son who lives in Australia, but got round it by him texting just before he rings and I can unblock the International calls.

Took a call on my home 'phone no last Thurs evening 08-08-13 from a lady called 'Sarah' who purported to be from a firm called DATA SECURITY. She said she was aware we were receiving a lot of spam 'phone calls (which we were) and that she knew that we were on 57 different firms data bases. She said she could get these spam 'phone calls stopped if I paid £15 per quarter, which I agreed to do.
Anyway, I thought about it over the week end, and on Mon 12/08/13, I ran the firm through Google, and it did not exist. I then ran the 'phone no-0800-6226710 through Google, and began to read the messages from other people who have apparantly been 'taken in'. I rang the no, a man answered and I asked to speak to Sarah. Conveniently she was not in work today? I then gave this man the address Sarah had given me and asked him to confirm the post code, which he was able to do so. I checked my credit card A/C, AND £15 had been withdrawn in 'Homeguard Direct's' name. NOT Data Security. I became uneasy, and immediately cancelled my Credit Card so that no more money can be taken frm my A/C.

It would help a lot of people if you would report this lot to Trading Standards and Action Fraud.  Action Fraud are very interested in the number of scam companies which operate is this small area of the South coast, in particular the fake satellite warranty/insurance companies.  Action Fraud think that these companies, although with different names, are all run by the same people as there is not enough money in it to warrant lots of different owners.  As I said in an earlier post, there is no way this lot would know whether you are getting a lot of scam/spam calls or not.  They would have to be monitoring your 'phone which, of course, they cannot do as, apart from anything else, it would be grossly illegal. (Unless, they work for GCHQ - lol)!

I worked for Secure Telephone Services / Homeguard Direct Data Security.

Training is poor so variations of the companies name are used by staff.
High Targets, minimum wage for staff. Forced to drop moral values to sell a service (Stopping cold calls) that hasn't been proved to work. Urged to prey on the vunerable.
    Very little data protection.
    Hard and Pushy Selling Techniques.

All I can say is .... Do Not Buy From Secure Telephone Services / Homeguard Direct Data Security !!!!!!

I to worked for homeguard direct data security. Its a full on scam.... they will tell you that you are on a random amount of calling lists and that they have the power and software to stop the calls. You part with either 69 pounds one off payment or 15 per quarter and that's it!!! The truth is they do nothing and that they hope your calls just stop. When you phone up and complain they will send out a call blocker that would cost you a tenner off amazon.. The head conman in is a Cameron robinson but his side kick is a guy called Clive liddiard who can be contacted on 08008496117..... give him a call and ask him......lol

    Ex-employee
I have worked for this company and advise everyone to avoid. from what I can gather they are not covered by anyone for any kind of insurance policy. another ex-employee who took out tv insurance with them has received a letter from tobell insurance services saying my cover insurance (one of their other names) is no longer being underwritten by them and the policy has now been expired due to this fact so at the moment they are selling insurance policies illegally. they also have many different products under a number of company names that claim to do all sorts. none of these products work and it is just a way for them to fleece the same people a number of times. they have recently been reported to the FSA so any one with a product from them, either as Homeguard Direct MyCover Insurance or Homeguard Direct Data security should really consider cancelling.
and yes before any one asks I was fired by them for not hitting target but this really is not a case of sour grapes. it is more a case of warning people what a rip off they are.
