- SalGalI too, was telephoned the other day by Homeguard, who clearly said they were taking over from Sky Direct as they were their engineers. He told me that as I had made no claims I would get a discount from the £6.50 fee I pay (it's actually £8.25) but we would have to pay £45 per quarter for the first twelve months, leaving the second and third year totally payment free!
He also had the first numbers of our bank account, although this wasn't the one I was paying my fee to Sky Direct from. I felt quite uneasy after the call, having given my details out for the direct debit and my husband rang up to clarify things straight afterwards and they told him the same as they'd told me.
Having looked them up they do seem like a bona fida company, but I certainly don't agree with their lying, deceitful way they got me to sign up to them, even telling me not to forget to cancel my other direct debit! If they were really taking over they would have had all my details surely?
If I cancel my dd now, I will probably have to change all the bank details which would cause chaos! I really do not know what to do now and only have a few days for the 'cooling off' period to end.- Caller: HomeGuard Direct

- IanThis company is taking money out my Mothers account for a product she does not have!
Suggest you do not ever sign up with these people--NB My Mum has dementia..- Caller: Home Direct

- Bella replies to Kimi| 1 replyI to was told the same story from homeguard and then phoned sky and they said it wasn't them so I cancelled my dd now they are saying they are taking me to the (CCJ)for £200+ would someone tell me what I should do please as I am a disabled pensioner should I go to see someone.
- The Mystery Man replies to BellaIf they miss sold to you ring them up and explain why you have cancelled your contract they should have recorded phone lines get them to listen to the sales call also a call to SKY wouldn’t hurt let them know what they are doing to their customers.
anyone dealing with this company I would suggest you ring them up before cancelling your Direct Debit/contract with them to avoid these letters of we will send people to collect money you owe us if you were 100% miss sold ring and get the call listened to then you have fighting grounds to cancel your contract and as I said before unless it’s an insurance company ringing you saying would you like to buy our product don’t listen and for heaven sakes everyone check your direct debts and insurance!!! Only you can stop scams genuine companies don’t sell in the way this website demonstrates if they say they are taking over etc. its going to be a SCAM! - admoss| 1 replyHomeguard provided me a good service and have sent me an engineer when i needed one in may 2012. Also they charge a lot less than sky protect (the so called sky approved company) who i was coverd with last year. i was paying 90 a year with sky protect until i was called by a homeguard rep last year offering it for 60.
This company have been fine for me, i think some people dont get the cooling off period, or just dont listen.- Call type: Telemarketer
- The Mystery Man replies to admosswell everyone is entitled to their own opinions on this company it’s not the case these days any way of people not listening everyone signing the same story of they told me they were taking over seems a little strange that and a lot of my mates have had calls from this company to expressing the same anger but yes some people are getting good service from many of these none insurance companies however the means of getting the customers/the law in general on warranty VS insurance in the first place is wrong if stories on this site are true it is just plain wrong end of the day people need to start getting their wits about them any company saying they are taking over, reducing the price or even are sky are not allowed to do so and will be a scam unless you are with an insurance company which should be underwritten where a company will most likely will take over if they go bust however far as I’m aware that’s done though post or original company informing you before the switch and will have FSA all over the document.
- Julie replies to JohnMy mother who is 74 also got a call the same as you she gets confused and agreed to get them off the phone. When I rang to cancel and complain they agreed to cancel it. After a month she got a nasty phone call saying she owed them £45 when she explained it was cancelled the caller became domineering she was very upset. Do not take this insurance on principle. They are preying on old people to get business.
- Clive Wilmot (clive_wilmot@mail.com)| 1 replyIf this company has rang you and claimed to be from Sky, or saying that they are merging with Sky, or whatever, you've been conned.
Sky only ever endorse one product which is their own Sky Protect. (www.skyprotect.com) The real Sky would NEVER ask for your bank details over the phone and only ever correspond by letter.
I've no idea how good this company actually are (let's be honest, the people who are 'happy' with the service wouldn't feel the need to come onto this website just to let everyone know!), but the ways in which people have been duped into believing that this company is actually Sky is ethically wrong and, very much so, ILLEGAL.
If you feel this company have claimed to be official Sky and you have given them bank details over the phone, OR you already have the Sky Protect plan and don't want to be paying for two services, contact your bank and cancel any payments. You should probably also contact them back on the freephone number and just tell them you have changed your mind about the service. Don't be aggressive or foul-mouthed about it - they will want to put up a fight.
Better still, if you were convinced that these were Sky only to later find out they are not, contact Action Fraud. (www.actionfraud.police.uk)
*** This doesn't just apply to THIS company, but to any company who calls, such as the ones listed below which will probably have some affiliation with each other somewhere down the line ***- Caller: Homeguard Direct / Digital Customer Care Ltd /

- Dave replies to greg reillyThis company Homeguard are requesting £30.00 for our cancelled contract. I cancelled within the customer timeframe and advise company. They are now stating that they have not received this letter. Cancellation is within the 14 days of quote. We didnt even have any contracts sent in post, so how can you ever have an agreement. Reading other correspondence Sky, I agree that this company is run by rogues. If this carries on then I will report to Authories over their bullying tactics.
- LolImagine if hgd has just expanded and been approved by the FSA (making them FSA registered) What a kick in the teeth for all you idiots that do not listen then claim you've been conned. Why don't you find something better to do with your spare time and bore off.
- HGD replies to markYou get a job rather then writing on here all day you idiot. That is there job lol? Are you [***] serious?
- Anon replies to aliceThis company is not dead, they have phone me up and I made sure I understood everything that was happening, I have a sky plus box and was paying £8.50 a month to sky protect who are underwritten by domestic and general who are a general insurer for all house hold electricals, I have been switched to a £45 quarterly plan just over the first year and the 2nd and 3rd year are payment free do I was saving £126, they are very helpful and kind over the phone
- HGD replies to jetsetaYou have to use the word sky as you are talking about sky equipment you idiot. If you listened the first line of the call is hello it's ..... Calling from homeguard regarding the breakdown cover on the sky television equiptment. Seriously do something productive with your life.
- anonI used to work for homeguard direct and they are a con. Yes homeguard direct might send you an engineer out but at the end of the day, homeguard are tricking old and vulnerable people into buying something that they do not need. It was a horrible place to work where you felt pressurised to sell something which you didnt want to so I left.
They will NEVER be FSA regulated, and most the positive comments on here are most probably fake. Trust me, I worked there, I know!!
I'm just warning everyone, so they dont get scammed and get told that homeguard are the "third party engineers" and they "cut out the middle man" sound familiar? Its a lie. Its a made up script and the reason they dont do monthly DD's is because they have to pay more so they try and make it sound better but its not!- Caller: Homeguard direct

- KarenThey caught me when I was home ill with a migraine I gave (stupidly) my bank details and thought oh well I will check it all when the paperwork comes - it never did, I forgot all about until they took £30 from my bank, immediately cancelled the direct debit and they got threatening court action call when they rang to say I owed them £30 cancellation fee as it was outside of the 7 day cooling off period, asked how was Isupposed to cancel anything when I had no paperwork to tell me where to cancel or where to call. Very unhelpful they gave me a link to Royal Mail franking service as proof of posting......... anyone can get that link, and because they had replies back from other people who were in the same mail merge as me they are deeming mine as delivered as it never came back to them as returned post. I deem it as it was never posted in the first place as it never went back to them. I will pay the £30 now as I getting very distressed by their arrogance and feell I have been well and truly scammed - please everyone be very careful before taking out any insurance from these people I would not trust them as far as I could throw a piano!!

- kathI got a phone call from these people telling me that i had given them my bank details and that they would intercept unwanted calls for an annual fee. When I asked for their head office I was given a non existant address in London and when pressed for a phone number they hung up. The person calling had a very affected accent possibly a call centre in India!
I assume if I had gone along with it they would have asked for a pin number.
Stay awake folks, these con artist shift and change like shadows- Caller: Homeguard
- AndyHardymy 84 year old father was contacted by Homeguard to give him 5 years cover on his sky box which he had recently taken on a trial period with sky. My Dad is rather confused with these numerous calls from companies to help the elderly in every which way they can dream up and con money out of them. Dad swears he did not give them his bank details, but i found from dad this company had taken the first £60 payment, he tried to cancell as his sky box had been returned as he was unable to understand how to get the chanels he wanted, but Homeguard then insisted on a £90 admin/ cancellation fee, I got Dads £60 back via his bank as a dubious company payment. Homeguard reponded with the threatening leter and persued the £90 cancellation fee plus the £60 they had once pocketed.
Today Dad gave me the letter threatening court action, their letter doesn't even have an address to write to?
i had previously phoned Homeguard, they said his origional call was recorded when I questioned the fact he hadn't given them his bank details, I replied good,i wand a copy, sorry we don't give copies out but you can have a transcript, i asked for a copy of the transcript from David , customer care Manager (7.6.12) not
recieved as yet . I await the court proceeding, I love court cases, I beat them every time with pure facts, that is of course IF they will even take my 84 year old Father to court. I will keep Watchdog and the Daily Mail finance man TONY HETHERINGTON. Andy Hardy- Caller: homeguard Direct Ltd
