They asked for my mum, didn't know the number personally so googled it.

Came up here, I know realise it was a work related phone call as she is a nurse.

I wish some of you idiots would read over the posts before submitting your own and clogging up useful information.

The number has called twice - oh sh**

Must try and answer it if they call again.  Got a hospital appointment for next week so could be about that.  Pants.

Just got a call from this number, googled it and came up this site don't know why they are phoning me. I'm from Edinburgh I've had this number a year now but suddenly getting these numbers calling me. Starting to get annoying really.

Hi, I have had this number come up on my mobile and they left a message saying my name and this is their name calling from the centralised booking line and to phone back on another number. I was not givin a dialling code so guessing it is for Edinburgh and to book a hospital appointment. I reckon previous posts are correct in it being a generic NHS caller ID.

Yes it is a generic NHS ID.  I got a call from the Sick Kids Hospital in Edinburgh about an appointment for our daughter and this was the number that came up on the display.

2 calls from this number to my business phone and personal mobile. No message no clue as to who it is. Calling back it just says it cannot accept incoming calls. An absolute time-waster and nuisance.

They called me last Thursday at 4.45pm and again today (a week later) just a few moments ago at 5.25pm. I missed both calls. I'm slightly worried as I don't have any appointments and can't see why they'd be phoning, has anyone else had any calls like this when they don't have an appointment - any idea what they could be for?

Nothing to do with NHS yet have had calls.

This number belongs to Net-Care sub contracted by the NHS Dont phone this number,as it doesn`t receive incomming calls.

This number keeps calling for quotes on minibus hire. WHY?????

it's only since 24/10/2009 that I have received calls from this number. I work in Lothian NHS Trust. These calls are irritating to say the least!

I beleive 08006783393 is a Featurenet number which is the service that outgoign calls for most og the NHS go through. It allows for free outgoing calls for the NHS.
When my office moved onto featurenet we were displaying this number until we got BT to sort it out.

We get a lot of calls from this number that is just static.

Had call from this number today at 1400hrs no idea who its is and I don not have any outstanding appointments for any health board and do not live anywhere near Glasgow, what a mystery.

This No is from the NHS/Greater Glasgow & Clyde, it does not receive incoming calls & if you have an answer machine they won't leave a msg unless you arrange it with them & that would be with ur G.P hospital consultant or whoever ur dealing with for the call back.

It will be the NHS but check that it isn't your local doctor.  I phoned my Doctor as I have the Norovirus and this is the number she phoned me back on.  She has phond me twice now on two separate days and this is the number that is coming up.

I got a call from this number and your all saying its the NHS but whoever it was didnt even speak english to me and i cannot speak another language so it wasnt as if i could understand what they were saying ... also i havent been to the hospital in years and i havent asked for an appointment so why would they call me? Hopefully wrong number and nothing important

They called me this morning at 5.30am but I was asleep, ran downstairs to answer phone but it had rang out by then. No message left and no idea why I would be called from the NHS at that time of the morning. Surely they could have left a message as this is very worrying!!

Keep getting calls from this number day and night. Doin my head in.
