Report a phone call from 08009878240 and help to identify who and why is calling from this number.
- Mrs Janice Whittaker| 10 repliesThis number phoned again today many times and the last time I told them I would report them for being such a nuisance. They want to know if you have a credit card because the agreement which you sign could be invalid but only if you have a balance on it which I never keep a balance on my credit card I clear it each month.
I wish they would stop ringing. I registered for marketing calls not to call my number over a year ago but it seems that this one does what it wants.- Caller: unknown
- Dud DPain in the Butt calls from these comedians on 08009878240. What are they trying to achieve, Answered once - never again - why do they persevere???
- moriarty replies to Mrs Janice Whittaker| 2 repliesWhen did they call? Did they speak with a welsh accent?
- CautiousSuz| 9 repliesThis number phoned me today, he spoke so fast I couldn't quite catch their details but got the impression that it would be good news for me if I had credit cards/loans taken out before 2007 as the Consumer Credit Act of 1974 had changed which invalidated any outstanding balance and I would not have to pay lender another penny back.
I managed to ask who they were and how they found my number, he said the company was called (something?) Consortium, Governance or Government(?) of Justice. They got my number from an online survey which I would have completed within the last 12 months that is how they get their information. He then pursued to get more information about my credit card which I managed to block with another question of "why do you need this information as I do not owe anything?" With that he told me that this would not effect me and was gone.
A very polite and professional sounding man but as I refuse to answer questions about myself over the phone he left with no info but could easily have got me won over with the you do not have to pay any outstanding balances!
Hope this helps other people as it sounded too good to be true and may be a scam to get your personal details. - Fiona replies to CautiousSuz| 1 replyI keep getting these people telephoning me and saying they can help me out on the balance of my credit card and they are sending me details. However, today I stupidly gave them the balance of my debt on my card and my date of birth and this is because they were going to send me details to my e-mail adress.
The phone just kept ringing every few minutes after this and nothing was ever said when I picked the phone up. I feel a bit scared now as they could do anything and I am already the victim of adress identity fraud. - Alex replies to FionaDid you receive the email and what did it say?
- Alex replies to CautiousSuzThe company is Consortium Reclaim and they are regulated by the ministry of justice dealing with credit agreements before April 07. There are many different errors of the (consumer credit act) that can be found on these agreements before april 07 which legally can render that debt unenforcable due to errors in the (consumer credit act). The courts can not enforceable that debt. Listening to all the information about this will open your eyes to what has been going on for so long at will really help.
- eaa1312| 2 repliesThey're doing my head in, they ring at least three times a day, I have an answer phone but they never leave a message, so I don't know what they want or who they are. I've had a lot of nasty calls in the past, so I make a point of not answering numbers I don't recognise unless they leave a message and tell me what they're ringing for. I think they're Consortium Reclaim (or something similar) however I cannot find them online. Does anyone know if they have a website?

- JacI have just had exactly the same message as Cautious Suz 22 July 2010. A chap called Nathaniel something (didn't catch surname!). After my questioning when he asked if I had only the one credit card, he put the phone down on me ... !!!
- Caller: Consortium Reclaim
- Cautious OAP| 1 replyI have been nearly won over with the chaps easy manner and even considered his offer, but the company, or the part of the company dealing with debt recovery has only been registered for a short time and the financial regulator says, companies are not supposed to ask for up front payment, which they are. I got contacted three times in one day and nearly fell for it. Take care, I have a feeling we are dealing with an elaborated scam, even though they are supposed to have backing from the department of justice. Anybody out there had a bad experience with this company or similar?

- Rebb1987| 1 replyi had the same call, i think it is a big scam they were asking me too many personal questions and when i finally gave in they wanted to take payment on my credit card to use their services, it was quite convincing but then i said i'd like to go away and think about it and on that they kept pushing and pushing for my card details to take payment...seemed so desperate they wernt considering what i was saying about reading some literature first.
in the end he were very rude just because i wouldnt allow payment on card
there are other companys out there registered with moj since 2007 that deal with unlawful debt that are far more considerate and reliable i'll just go with them
hope this helps- Caller: Consortium Reclaim
