I tried to do it this way but soon found out that you have to be regulated by the Ministry of Justice therefore went back to Consortium as they are fully regulated and paid for their service. I was a bit sceptical at first but after seeing their success file it put my mind at ease. After seeing regular updates from Stephanie my claims expert I am more than happy with their service and definitely recommend consortium to people that are in financial difficulty like myself.

I'm slightly horrified to see some of these comments... Consortium Reclaim have saved me about £4500 with the UCA with my Barclaycard and MBNA. I was suffering from major financially difficulty, and struggling to make my payments back. The agent who helped me with my claim was fantastic, and very patient with my stories about these cards!  I was happy to put the fee on a credit card, as I knew for a fact I would be covered paying that method. I spoke to 2 members of staff and was sent an email before I made the payment- I really didn't want to wait days to receive a pack in the post. I phoned once for a progress on the case, and again, Customer Services was very helpful. I am so grateful to this Company for the help they have given me.
I would like to point out the people complaining have nothing negative to say apart from receiving calls... listen to these people. For me, it was the call I had been waiting for all year.

I keep getting calls from 0800 9878 240, they claim to clear your credit card bills because of something the bank failed to let customers know about, I said I wasn't interested and ask for them not to ring again, her response was " don't you want to save money". I told her that if I buy something on my credit card then I should be the one that pays for it and not try to get out of paying because of something the bank didn't tell me. I don't know who they are, but to go ahead with this I would have had to give her personal information, which I am sure some people will do if it means they don't have to pay their credit card bill, we are constantly hearing about people either parting with money or giving people personal information, if they are calling a lot of people, they will strike lucky sometime.

    Hi Pam

    Please see my previous post

    Hello all,

I work for Consortium Reclaim.  I can tell you, that it is just like working at any other call centre.  They do take things very seriously indeed, each call is monitored, regardless of whether the the customer goes ahead or not.  I have seen a number of staff being sacked for inappropriate use of words, or any hint of miselling.

For example, you cannot use the tern "No win no fee" when dealing with unenforcability of CA's, the reason is simple, the customers contractual minimum payments WILL increase, so there is a cost to the client.  However you can say it with regards to PPI claims.

And yes they do give refunds to customers.  They are also very good at what they do, we regularly have updates on succesfull claims, but they never mention the customers name, only the member of staff it relates to (data protection reasons).  We are not permitted to write down any credit card numbers, they must (if taken) be entered onto the secure computer server system.

For your information, the MOJ DO NOT say that a company should not take an up front fee, they simply say that the customer must be provided with the information before any payment can be taken, and that sending by email satisfied this requirement.  So i can assure you, before payment is taken the call is passed to Quality Control, they process the payment after the whole deal has been confirmed again with the customer.  In the case of UCA the customer also gets a 14 day grace period, yet another stipulation of the MOJ.

They are also moving to a brand new office, just across the road from where they are now and are increasing staff numbers 3 fold.  Now this does not strike me as the kind of company who are not serious about what they do, or are not in this for the long term.

I hope the above provides you with some comfort.  Put it this way, i have morals myself, and if they were in any way dodgy i would not work for them, i do not believe in conning people and would have nothing to do with that behaviour.

I processed a UCA the other day, and i actually told the customer they could indeed do this themseleves, but as they were a very busy couple i suggested that they might want to consider letting us do it, so they could carry on their business.  I gave them a few days to talk it over and write down any questions they may have.  They decided to go ahead and i hope they will be sucessfull in their claim.  Now i know for a fact that a large percentage of my colleagues do their business in the same way, and i dont see anything wrong with that sort of practice, do you??

Most of the people on this forum are complaining about being contacted so often, then let me assure you, all you need do is answer, let us know and we WILL remove you.  Duplicate records happen at times, this is the same for any company dealing with large ammounts of data.  It is not in the interest of any sales person to keep calling an uninterested party, that would just be counter productive, so we don't do it on purpose.  We use an automatic dialing system, and you cannot reasonably expect any sales person to remember any clients details, when they are calling hundreds of numbers daily.

The company may be genuine, unfortunately there are a lot who are not, you do have to be very careful, I am never interested in anyone who rings me as I have no idea if they are genuine or not. I have been contacted a number of times, on some occassions I have answered the telephone, but no one is at the other end, today there was, I am a polite person and I know this lady was doing her job, but in the end I did have to put the phone down on her as she I told her numerous times that I was not interested, but she kept saying "didn't I want to save money", well of course I want to save money, who doesn't, but I wasn't interested in doing what she wanted me to.

They've called me FOUR TIMES in 24 hours!! It's getting ridiculous now, next time I'll really tell them where to go, I don't care if it's a legitimate company or not, I'm not interested in their service and they do not get the flipping message!

Thankyou for that. It did cross my mind but I wasn't sure where to start, and we all know there aren't many financial people we can trust. So will feel much safer doing this myself.

    Thanks again

I wish they would stop ringing too because I don't want that he calls me every time

I am at work during the day, but it shows on the phone that they have called, they ring in the evening when I am home, it is getting ridiculous now. When I did speak to someone I told them I wasn't interested and could they make a note that I do not want any more calls, but still they keep calling, what gives these people the right to ring people when they clearly state they don't want any calls. I signed up to the telephone preference service a while ago, so should these people be ringing me.

I've just had a call from Consortium Reclaim on this number.

The woman explained that the call was in relation to my credit cards.

I asked which card in particular.

Her response was that they have been made aware that I have a credit card and signed a credit agreement which is unenforceable so they could reclaim money on my behalf.

I explained that I was registered with Telephone Preference services and by signing a credit agreement with a company doesn't give Consortium Reclaim the right to cold call me.

The response was that they were not selling me anything, but could reclaim money on my behalf.

I then said "so your services are free, as you are not selling me anything"

Call was then disconnected. i.e. they knew they wouldn't get a 'sale' from me.

As others have said, you can do what they offer completely free of charge, so my advice is to steer well clear of them.

Some have marked the call type as Debt collector, but this is incorrect as they are selling a service and are therefore a telemarketer.

I've received a phone call from Consortium Reclaim just now.  Didn't occur to me that we are on the TPS - I should have quicker but they caught me off guard.  They want to write off my debt too - unfortunately for them I've looked on the internet about them (as they want to call me back) and I've found this information.

They are sadly out of luck with me!

I'm off to MoneySavingExpert for information I can trust!!!
