Came home to find a message on my machine from this number.  Just some guy whistling in the background then he hung up.

This number IS Talktalk - having Googled it myself today I found it mentioned on the Talktalk forum, with a moderator offering to feedback complaints about hang-up calls and take a complainant off the marketing system if they wished.

Still a pain if you're not a talktalk customer, or if you get a silent call, but I'm confident it really is Talktalk. I also had this call about upgrades etc.

I have just contacted TalkTalk Customer Services having been called by this number.  They confirm that it IS an official TalkTalk number.  As with previous callers, annoyingly they have not left a voicemail message, and when you call the number back you get a recorded TalkTalk message saying "Don't worry, we'll call back later."  When they do get through they'll get a piece of my mind!

I have had lots of call from this number offering a better deal then they hang up or say the lines breaking up and they will phone me back. I phoned talk talk on 08704441820 opt 2 then opt 3 they denied any knowledge of this so everybody should phone this number and make sure they do something about it

Told me i was a valued customer and they wanted to save me money. Made me confirm all my details then hung up. Just rang talk talk to find out if it was them and they have nothing on their side showing that a member of talk talk tried to contact me. Told him if anyone starts altering my account arrangments I would like to be contact as a follow up precautioin on my landline and they said they are unable to help. Had a similar thing with SKY about 3 months ago and they turned ESPN and Sky Sports on my package for me. Keep an eye on your account people. These little turds are obviously on the take somehow!!!

i have received the same calls and have researched into it as much as i can the number is an opal telecom limited company, im not sure what they are trying to acheive but i have been given a website by talktalk where you can report this incident the website is; www.tpsonline.org.uk if enough people report this number to them they might actually do something about it! i would urge all of you that have had this problem to please take the time to report the incident to this website and hopefully stop these scumbag fraudsters! please please report this and also spread the information to everyone and anyone else willing to help. noone seems to be bothered enough to do something about it but as we are the consumers we can make a change if there are enough of us. thank you

PS. i would also urge all of you to contact talktalk as i did and report it to them and give them the telephone number, all they did for me was record the incident and give me the previous website but hopefully if enough of you report it they might try to do something! please please help this cause by doing as i have suggested as im sure if a majority of people report it they will have to follow it up. lets stop these scumbag fraudsters together.

Had a call from this number 18.30 today, said it was talktalk asked for me by name, asked if i was the bill payer then hung up when i said i was, i am already a talktalk customer.

Had the same phone call today and gave the lady my details as requested name phone number, dob and address, which i cant see that they can get any money out of me from these details.

Has anybody thought that TALKTALK may have had there accounts hacked or have a dodgy person working for them as it is funny that these people know that we are all TALKTALK customers.

And yes they offered me the same £26.00 a month package which i only pay £16.00 and she argued that i was wrong and she had the information infront of her.  When i again said ok whatever well no im not interested. She hung up!!!!!!!!

Only problem is most people dont have caller display, therefore have already answered the phone and divulged information before they know its a dodgy call.

What can we do about this.??

Just had a call from "Peter from Talk Talk" on 0800 988 6018 - sounded like he was in India both from quality of line and accent! He asked me to confirm my first line of address and postcode, telephone number and dob so I gave him those details but I mumbled them really quickly - if he had them on screen he could confirm them but I very much doubt he could have correctly noted them down from the way I said them.

He told me I could save money if I call mobiles from my landline, I told him I'd have to be an idiot to do that because I have a mobile phone contract with free minutes anytime to any number. He told me I could save money on international calls, I told him I don't know anyone abroad and have never made an international call in my life. He then said that for only £26 a month... at which point I interrupted him and told him I didn't want to pay any more than I was already paying. He said Thankyou and then hung up on me. I'm registered with TPS, which has cut nuisance calls like these to around 3 a day. Fed up with them.

I too have been called many times by this number. I returned their call when I saw the number on the phone's screen, and the recorded message says that I have missed a call from TalkTalk and that "it's nothing to worry about". They will call another time. Not sure what to make of this. Maybe it's from TalkTalk? They don't try to hide the number. Any thoughts?

I have had these phone calls from an Indian person, I gave no details when they say they are from TalkTalk.

I am a TalkTalk customer and I deal with them direct on a proven number.

These scammers are beyond comprehension.

Thisnumber has just called me.  Didnt speak right away so i held on an and English accent said ' hello,  hello.   Needles to say i didnt answer but did ring them back and the said it was the Talk Talk Group and they will call me back - nothing to worry about.   Im not worried but wiukll kid them along next time they phone if i have nothing better to do

just got a call from that number too and thought it was talktalk. Gave the man my first line of address and postcode .. then he asked questions re outside UK calls etc. I'm on international package anyway .. very strange. He quoted wrong monthly payment of mine which I corrected. He then just hung up.
But: I called talktalk and after being sent from customer services to sales team and back I was told that this number is a talktalk sales number.
So we shouldn't worry.
And I did complain that they mustn't just hang up on their customers ...

pretty much the same as the other posts and annoying too!
