Another of those calls where they hang up as soon as you answer

had a call to-day offering me a cheaper rate - saide it was talktalk ] and after a discussion i told her to phone back in an hour as i was sure my package was less than what she was offering.   She has just phoned back and said she had the info in front of her but i told her i was on acheaper raate than she said i was - told her thank  you and hung up,  i am going to get onto talkalk jst now and report this

I've also started getting calls from 08009886018 in the last couple of days, no message being left on my answer phone. Having read through the messages on this site, I've also notified Talk Talk direct and the TPS (as someone else suggested).

This number 08009886018 calls me several times a week - does not leave any message and hangs up if I manage to get to landline in time to answer it.  No idea who they are or what they want or how they have my number.  Do not want to call them back in case it costs me!

I keep missing this call, has anyone answered their questions with made up info to check if they have your details in front of them?

Had a telephone call from this number today.  They stated that they were from TalkTalk, wanted to confirm name, address etc asked me how the service had been and asked what router I was using.  I told them and was advised that I had an old type of router and would be better served with a more up-to-date one.  At this point I was cut off.  As I only had the router fitted 2 weeks ago by a TalkTalk engineer I was suspicious that this was a scam to get me to buy a new router, which presumably would have involved me giving my credit card details etc.

I the circumstances I contacted TalkTalk, gave them the number and asked if it was a genuine TalkTalk number.  After some delay whilst the Customer Services Rep. did a thorough check, he informed me that 08009886018 was DEFINATELY NOT a TalkTalk number and thanked me for reporting the incident.

IF SOMEBODY CONTACTS YOU FROM THIS NUMBER, HANG UP - IT'S A SCAM!!

Just had a call from some wog on this number. Got as far as confirming my name then hung up.

If this 08009886018 calls and I dont hang up after they do, will it bugger them up calling some other poor innocent for a while?

Very similar experience - foreign accent, "tariff review, few security questions etc"  She lost interest when I said I couldn't remember my home phone number (I can't, because I always give people my mobile number).  Seems like  a scam, probably to get a switch to another supplier.  On the other hand, if it is talktalk, someone needs to get a grip!

i just had a simular call someone saying they are from talktalk a indian guy, asked me if i was so in so then said he had a better deal plan to offer from talktalk, then he asked my fone number address and date of birth to comfirm, me a sucker i duno if talktalk asks these questions to prove who you are.. then he went through his deal saying i pay 24 off pound for my service and i said no i pay 18 odd then it went back and forth arguing about that then i said hold on i log into my account then i can tell you exacly how much then i told him, i said you can see that on your screens though so you know how much i pay for my service, he said no i dont see your account ... hmmmmmm now im thinking hes got my address my fone number and date of birth and my name what is he going to do with all this!!!!!!!!!
then he hung up after saying thanks for talking to talktalk..
is this apart of talktalk side company or someone scamming????

I was called today by this number, she said she was from Talk-talk. She was very difficult to understand but wanted me to verify my address. When I asked if she really was from talk talk she hung up (I was suspicious because of her English). I like the idea of giving false details to see if they pick up on it as someone suggested. Definitely a scam I reckon.

I received a call from this number saying they were TalkTalk, asking me to confirm a few security questions (address with postcode, phone number, date of birth) then offered me a cheap wireless router. Have contacted TalkTalk and they say it is definitely not them {quote :  This number is not a talktalk number, as our sales are not usually made this way, so please when they call again, ask them to remove you from whatever list it is that they have you on as it is cold calling.If you do wish to have a new router you can contact our sales team on 0800 049 9999 (free from your TalkTalk landline). They are around £30 this is true, but the router you mentioned is quite an old model compared to our new ones.}
Would suggest asking any 'TalkTalk' callers for your customer I.D. - can't see point in telling the police as nothing will be done.

Got 7, yes 7 calls from them today, left it for the answering machine, they left no message. When my husband came home from work (talk talk engineer!) they called again, he refused to give his d.o.b and asked why they were calling, "you have exceeded your downloads and there is a penalty" he told them he has never heard of anything like this and works for Talk Talk, "Chloe" then got her supervisor "Josh" who stated this was the case, my husband hung up. If and I mean if this is correct, Talk Talk would send a letter along with a bill. Call Talk Talk and verify with them....ALWAYS!

They always call at the same time of day, asking for the bill payer who is never here at that time.  I give them a time to call back and they never do.

Hung up when answered had one a few months ago same senario dont give any personal details at allif they ask for post code etc tell them if they are Talk Talk they already know who I am and my address if not tell them to go away and **** off.!!!

08009886018 is calling me on pretty much a daily basis. No-one there if you try and answer. Very annoying!

This is a talktalk sales call, don't entertain them!

I had this call yesterday from talktalk, confirming the phone number, dob, address . The accent I couldnt understand, I told her I havent got any clue what is the offer. She was saying I am getting loyalty offer for being with TalkTalk for a period of time. And I have 7 days to cancel this contract.
This looks like fishy , I'll call TalkTalk today to find out more.

at 11.23 this morning I received a call from this number saying she was from talktalk and I was entitled to a reduction in my calls. She asked for 1st line of my address to which I refused and asked them to give ME my account number and address. She stated she could not under the data protection act, I then "politely" cut her off and rang talktalk myself. Talk talk had no knowledge of the call or were it originated from....beware!!!
