As others have said. Withheld number. Confident Indian sounding guy called Simon and his manager Tanya. Given the phone number, and reference number. He wanted my card details to set up a direct debit account. I refused and searched for SAT LITE LIMITED. Luckily I found this site. Simon and Tanya should be Hung drawn and quartered for attempting such a scam in this present financial climate.

They are still at it; just had a call from mum telling me they'd called her. I don't THINK she gave any bank details...
One important question no one is asking here; Apart from one or two mistaken calls to people without Sky receivers, it seems these scammers know addresses, phone numbers and subscriber numbers. Where did they get that information? As far as I can see the only place with that data is SKY. Are SKY selling their customer lists? or is there someone (or more than one) in SKY's callcentre/datacentre who is stealing and selling data?
Would SKY like a little chat with the Data Commissioner?

Just so you all know there are loads of companies that offer cover for the Sky equipment.

You need to be clear when you say the word scam.

These companies ARE allowed to offer the service even with no connection to Sky.

If you do give your details wait for the paperwork and then contact them if you have any questions.

It is the same for any company that offers some sort of product.

I've never had a company call and "scam" me, all companies are genuine but will probably be independent.

Having read previous posts I can only comment on my experience. I was indeed called by Satlite themselves and agreed to do so on the condition that I could call them back myself.

The sales agent was happy to do so and provided their number.

I went to the bank and spoke to my branch manager. He was aware of the company and had spoken to them in the past in regards to another customer.

We called their Customer Services and I was put through to the Sales epartment where I setup a cover.

I have just received the warranty through the post and can say that after reading the details it is all in there as you would expect..engineers,callouts,cancellation period, renewal notice.

Nothing suspicious and all above board

just signed up to this company yesterday, needed my box looked at and had to find the number on here. called them to investigate all these scam posts and really questioned them. managed to talk my way into getting them to book an engineer visit after several 'excuses' about the warranty terms. must admit seems all above board but they are coming on friday so i will keep everyone posted on what happens. The first thing i will be doing is paying them a little personal visit if i have been lied to. thats for sure. mark d in london

I had a third call from this crowd today.  Everytime they phone I ask for paperwork up front as I will not pay over the phone to someone who initiates the call.  The third time I asked them for the phone number and address.  The address I was given was:  Satallite Ltd, Winsor House, Unit 1.3, 1270 London Road, Norbury, London SW16 4DH     Best of luck.

I took out a 3 year contract with these people and have not received any policy etc.  I phoned this number and spoke to a chap who assured me everything will be sorted.  I have paid £210 .00 for the 3 years.

This is a scam. Ask them what card you used for last year's insurance, they hang up. If you can be bothered keep them talking as long as you can.

I have spent a sleepless night, last night thanks to this company. They bullied me on the phone and frightened me. They have been taking payments from my debit card. I gave them the details just after I had Sky installed as they said they were from Sky. They said they are going to take a year's payment from me tomorrow. They refused to give me their phone number so my son could call them. I rang my bank and was told only Sat lite can cancel my payments as I gave them my card details. I told the caller last night that I was a pensioner but they still said I will have to pay. In the end I politely put the phone down as I was watching television. They kept trying to ring me several more times but I was too frightened to pick up the receiver. I think they have been ringing me again today.

Further to my messages I thought I would add. When I rang my debit card provider I only had to mention Sat Lite before the representative said "Don't tell me, they rang you and pretended to be from Sky!". Obviously they are well known in financial organisations!

Usually never get fall for this, but just happened to. Had a £60 offer - went for it. That evening my wife told me she had already got insurance with Sky. Called back immediately and cancelled.
They charged me the £60 and also credited it back to me... dunno about it being a scam or not, but they gave back the money at least .

I fell for this too, gave my details they took a payment, never recieved a call back or paperwork so I cancelled the payment, having tried to call the number they gave me, which went nowhere! Proper scam, they have contacted me several times since, saying that I owe them back payments and leaving messages to call back this number, which they don't seem to answer!

It's bull and I can't believe I fell for it!

I was called just before Christmas, at a very difficult time for me personally with a family bereavement shortly before.  I was persuaded to part with £240 but today I phoned them and indicated I had received no paperwork either electronically or by post.  Although they blamed the Christmas post, they seemed willing to refund my money so I just wait to see if it goes back onto my credit card.  If not, they will receive another call!!

Agreed. Whilst noting some unpalatable reported customer experiences I also received a cold call advising me that my satellite equipment insurance was due for renewal. I mistakenly paid £150 by debit card thinking they represented my existing company with a similar name. Having explained this to them I have received a full refund. They were courteous and efficient.
