- RobI'm not sure where everyone is getting their info from on this but I required an engineer to attend my property last week on behalf of Satlite, I rang on the 28th August the gentleman I spoke to tried to assist me with a re-boot of my satellite box but unfortunately this did not work. However an engineer was at my property the following day, they check the box and advised that the hard drive was finished, so they replaced the box which was in excellent condition and I’ve had no issues since.

They are familiar with these people. - BettySat Lite took £150 from my account 16 Dec. 2010 after they said they were from Sky. Telephoned twice as have not got any paperwork and they said I was not on their system. What can I do to recover and cancel their insurance?
- Caller: Sat Lite Ensured
- John Boss| 3 repliesI was called in mid-March by this bunch and was persuaded to pay £100+ for a discounted insurance deal for my Sky system. As I knew I had Sky insurance I had thought it was from Sky themselves - especially as they knew all the details of the equipment and Sky services I had here. ( I gather that for competition reasons, Sky are obliged to supply this data to independent insurance/maintenance businesses).
I paid by credit card (Mastercard) and - as everyone else here - I received no paperwork at all. Due to family issues I did not even realise this until the end of May. Then I found the notes on here.
I have called today and they were very polite and instantly (rather too instantly) offered a refund by cheque which is very odd as any refund would normally done through a refund on the credit card. They kept saying they were FSA registered. (is there any way to check if this is true - and if they are claiming this when they are, is there anything that the FSA can do)?.
Anyway - I'll wait for the cheque - but with little hope it will actually arrive. What also ESPECIALLY alarmed me is that the member of the credit card Disputes Team that I dealt with said that as this is an ongoing agreement to supply a service - such as an insurance premium - the ONLY people who can cancel this agreement is the payee company - i.e. in this case Satlite. Even the card company cannot cancel the payments, and even if I close my card account I still retain the obligation to pay these charges if they are claimed from Mastercard unless SatLite cancel it.
This seems to mean that they can put through new charges on my card at any time in the future even though I have had it replaced with different security details and have told my card company about the problems and asked them to block new payments to this company.
This seems utterly frightening and think this is different to a Direct Debit. Again - any thoughts/insights about this? The card company did say however that if I could tell them I had tried to cancel the agreement and not succeeded they could act. However - how do I know if SatLite have actually cancelled the agreement and prove that to Mastercard?
Sorry for the long post. I'll update this thread if and when a cheque arrives (AND clears!). I realise this echoes many other situations - but the reference to being FSA authorised seems to be new - and I certainly had no insight into the BIG problem with cancelling credit-card paid renewing premiums.
Any thoughts/advice much appreciated. In my mind I have written off the original amount and put that down to experience any my own stupidity and gullibility!- Caller: SatLite

- Shameer Hossenbux replies to Hossenbux Family Victim SupportI am very delighted to announce that we have changed our company's name from Sat-Lite to Sampora Ltd. You guys will be amazed that we have changed our company name three times in past two years.
Another astonishing news is that we have appointed a new business partner Mr. Deen (The Bull Dog)
Mr Deen will help us take our Organised Crime Operations ooops.... i meant to say our newly named company to a next level of conning people. Mr Deen is a very outspoken (Rude) fellow who really cares about his reputation.
We are now FSA regulated. This was achieved by declaring false information and forged documents carefully designed by Mr. Jeremiah Homwe.
CRB checks is just a gimmick just to keep customers satisfied that we are not hiring criminals and street guys any more. But surely we still do without any change or fail.
I feel proud to have appeared so smart and cunning.

- Bex| 7 repliesBEWARE OF THIS COMPANY!!!!!!
My mum got a call from these guys last August. Gave her the impression they were from sky and pressured her into buying their so called warrenty (she didn't even need it as she'd only had sky 8 months). She then had second thoughts the day later & phoned sky to cancel who told them this company were nothing to do with them. She tried phoning Satlite several times and got no answer, so phoned her credit card company and cancelled her card.
She did eventually get through to Satlite and told them she had been 'mis-sold it' and wanted to cancel. They agreed to cancel her contract & said they would give her a refund. She never got one, but didn't bother pursuing it as it was only £6 for 1 months payment, she just put it down to a bad experience. She thought that was the end of it as she had cancelled her card so they couldn't get any more money off her. She never heard anything else from them - never recieved any paperwork/written communication from them what so ever....
Then a couple of weeks ago she gets a letter from a debt collectors (Capital Credit Management, West Malling, Kent) demanding £106 for payments owing on the warrenty she took out. She has phoned and written to them telling them she does not owe this debt, but since then she had 2 further letters threatening court action if she does not pay, in each letter the debt has gone up by £40. She is getting advice from Citezens Advice and Trading standards, they are trying to sort it out for her, but she is really worried that she is going to have to pay the debt.
I'm really furious about all this. She never told me what happened last year as she said she didn't want to worry me and thought she had sorted it out by herself. I just found out about it when this debt letter turned up. The problem is that she never actually wrote to Satlite to cancel (which, the law states you need to do to legally cancel a contract). She says she couldn't write to them as she never had an address for them. But if I'd have known I'd had googled them and got an address. I know they have broken the law too as they never sent her any documents or requests for payment which they're legally required to do, but they are claiming they have sent 'numerous requests for payment' so it's now her word against theirs and it seems the debt collectors are takig their word for it at the moment.
I urge anyone who has been conned by these people to WRITE and cancel - send it by recorded delivery so you know they get it. DON'T just cancel your credit card and leave it and DON'T just phone them. That is not enough in the eyes of the law.- Caller: Satlite

- Robert Good| 3 repliesIn December 2010 this company called a neighbour 81 years old saying they were Sky and proposing insurance cover for her Sky box. As she is elderly she asked them to call back when I was there. This they did. I spoke to someone called Sandeep who refused to give me his number so I could discuss it with my neighbour and call him back. I then told him in clear terms, in accordance with her wishes, my neighbour did not want Sky insurance and did not want to continue with her Sky box either as she was elderly and living on limited means. We were both led to understand it was part of Sky television.
I also wrote to them the same day, 15 December 2010, by email at admin@sat-lite.co.uk to confirm she did not want their contract and to refund any money that had been taken.
A few days later she told me her bank account at HSBC had been debited £17 by this company, using her debit card number. She was adamant she had not given them any card details and she had no idea where they had got this from. On my advice she went to her bank and told them it was a scam and they refunded her £17.
Some weeks later on 1 February 2011 her bank wrote to her to say Sat Lite had provided authentication of her consent, and sent a copy of a hand completed form of authorisation. They redebited her account accordingly. I was not fully aware of this because she did not want to trouble me again. I am a barrister and advise our Residents' Association of which she was a member..
Subsequently, on 8 August 2011, she received a letter from a firm called CAPITAL CREDIT MANAGEMENT threatening legal action to recover a 'debt' of £105 if not paid within 7 days.
"The contract was for an extended warranty which you agreed to on the 06/12/2010. Despite requests to bring your account up to date, you have failed to do so." The £105 "includes collection costs to date of £45.00 plus VAT."
She did not agree on that date or at all and they had have made no request at any time to "bring [her] account up to date.
What do I do? I propose to reply to the recent letter along the above lines.
I am also contemplating taking out a small claim against them to recover the £17 and 'resistence' costs to date.
I also telephoned Sky to complain about Sat Lite in December 2010 and, although they were aware of scams being carried out by this company and others at the same address in Sky's name, they told me the company had nothing to do with them and it was not their problem.
It is a matter of regret that people such as David Cameron lament declining moral standards but lift not a finger to bring to book such obvious criminals.
I will keep you informed of developments.
